My understanding is that a sub account is an entirely new/separate account. So it would be an individual line.

So how would this work as far as billing ? I'm trying to find a cost effective way to add one more family member to my nationwide share plan, but if the new AOL line is treated as an individual separate account, it may not benefit me.

then the bad radios
That is a Samsung issue, not a Nexus issue. I got a Note3 and the radios were just as bad as the GNex. For some reason people complained about them more with the GNex. The Note3 is no better than the GNex in that regard.

and the horrible battery life
That was a function of the bad radios and ICS/JB not being very efficient operating systems. All of the 4G LTE phones except the Maxx back then were pretty awful in terms of battery life.

I just seem to think Verizon will update their turbo first. both moto phones yes but one an exclusive to Verizon and is it weird you can pre order the nexus the day after the turbo is announced and probably released. im sure Verizon said let our early adopters get our exclusive before we have that available.
The Moto X got updates faster than any other phone on Verizon, including the Droid series.

Lol my fiance still hates me for that gnex as well. Oh how I don't miss that things. I honestly haven't looked much at the Turbo because I'm not a big fan of all the crap they used to put on top of vanilla Android. Does Moto still do that with the Droid line of phones? I heard its a beast of a phone but not much past that.
Motoblur is dead.

Moto X is pure vanilla android plus, the plus being always listening, active notifications, assist and touchless controls - all very useful features.

----------

You can't activate it through Verizon CS or the VZW website but if you take an active SIM card and put it into a device, it will activate and work just fine 100% guaranteed.
thank you. I will use your SIM card trick to get iPhones off of lines b/f I get rid of the iPhones.

----------

Say I AOL a line from someone, can I move that line to a sub account if it will put me over 5 lines on my family share, or do you have to max at at 5 before you can move to a sub account?
You can have a family share and an individual line in your main account w/o making a subaccount. You cannot have more than 5 lines on a legacy family share plan no exceptions so the 6th line would be an individual line with its own minutes.

Won't hear one complaint from me about Motoblur being gone. I'm going to have to see how this Nexus feels in the hand. Also it looks like Otterbox didn't make a case for the last two Nexus devices. That alone may keep me from buying one as I have to have a case/holster for it.

I have a couple questions regarding the UDP. I have a verizon off contract iphone 5.

1. Can the AOL process involve starting a new contract get the sim activated on this iphone 5 with the UDP line

2. Can I later move the UDP line to a different phone, say a galaxy s4?

I have this one for my moto x and love it - you can get them for cheap on amazon.

http://www.pure-gear.com/shop-by-device/motorola/case-kickstand-holster-motorola-moto-x.html

I hope they make one for the Nexus 6.

I had one of those, I think it was for the gnex. It wasn't bad but not as good as the otterbox. I think I'm going to wait this release out and see what accessories come out for the Nexus. I'm also going to see how I feel about the Turbo's screen.

Now all we need is Verizon to have another one of their "glitches" where we can upgrade and keep UDP or even better add lines with UDP. :D;)

Phones are not off contract or on contract. Lines are. Phones are either active on a Verizon line or not active on a Verizon line. So is the iP5 you have not currently active on a Verizon line?

1. Can the AOL process involve starting a new contract get the sim activated on this iphone 5 with the UDP line
You need a Verizon phone for any line you AOL, so yes, the AOL rep will activate the iP5 on the line for you using the SIM card that is in it if it has a SIM card in it.

2. Can I later move the UDP line to a different phone, say a galaxy s4?
You don't move lines, you move devices. Yes, you can put another Verizon device on the line.

People handing out lines should have their email addresses in their profiles.

Here is another option that was just posted on SDs.

Thanks JulesJam

Ah that's you? Give me a day. I have two lines tied up that I have already authorized for someone last week. They still haven't taken them over. I really don't want to call back in and tell them nevermind put it in this name. Is that ok?

yes I agree about the Sammy radios. I had a gnote 2 and constantly had to toggle 3g 4g to get 4g to work. and your correct about the moto x updates they got it super quick thought I read bought the maxx getting not long after but I could be wrong.

ive always been a fan of moto phones since I had the droid x and im on the fence of getting a nexus for a back up cause I keep looking at the one with the blue back with silver nexus lettering and following in love with it but im just concerned bout vzw control. I remember Verizon was able to sneak a little vzw bloat on to that poor galaxy nexus. haha

people taking wayyyy to long on ebay to accept lines. I don't get it its so simple. my first 2 flew with no issues and were gone and off my account in 24hrs or less and my last one I feel like I have to go knock on his door and wake him up.

Fine by me. Another question on the UDP. I use my mobile quite a bit in rather remote areas, with 3G only towers. Does anyone know the extent of the throttling? Does it take it down to 1x level speeds?

You only get throttled if you have a 3G device on the line AFAIK.

Optimizing Our Network. Our Network Optimization practices for customers with 3G devices on unlimited data plans ensure that you can count on the reliable network you expect. To optimize our network, we manage data connection speeds for a small subset of customers – those who are in the top 5% of data users and have 3G devices on unlimited data plans – and only in places and at times when the network is experiencing high demand. This ensures that all customers have the best data experience possible.

95% of our data customers are not impacted. Those who are in the top 5% who have 3G devices on unlimited data plans may experience managed data speeds when connected to a cell site experiencing high demand after reaching certain data-usage levels in a bill cycle. These high data users will feel the smallest possible impact and only experience reduced data speeds when necessary for us to optimize data network traffic in that area.

So I chatted with Verizon about an UDP AOL to my family share plan. She confirmed UDP will remain and the new AOL line can be moved to a sub account. She said it will not be treated as an individual line on the sub account. It will share the minutes as all my other lines of my primary family share and will be $9.99 line access and $30 smartphone charge.

This sound legit?

Also, would the total account bill remain the same per month when you create a sub or will it now treat the line as an individual plan? All lines are part of a family share plan. Really appreciate all the help and information from you guys, much more knowledgeable than their own reps lol.

I have had a more everything plan for a while. When I AOL'ed my UDP line I specifically told the customer service rep to place the UDP line on a new sub account & to not change anything (minutes, text & unlimited data). Once the new sub account was set up I registered it online & now I have a separate login for it. The new UDP on the new sub account is treated as an individual plan.

Nope - can't have more than 5 lines on a NationWide family share plan. No exceptions. No subaccount trickery can get out of that limitation.

The last thing I would want to put on an already gigantic phone is a bulky otterbox case.

Is the activation fee associated with the line or the device?

If I start my contract with a ip5 on the new UDP:

1. I pay activation fee, monthly charges, fee, taxes, etc.

2. If I switch to another device that needs a different sized SIM, can I switch devices without incurring a new activation fee, and can I have verizon send my a appropriate sim for the new device?

Line - it is paid by the person who AOLs the line to you, not you.

You don't pay the activation fee for the line .

2. If I switch to another device that needs a different sized SIM, can I switch devices without incurring a new activation fee,
There is no fee for switching devices.

and can I have verizon send my a appropriate sim for the new device?
yes, it is free.

Thanks JulesJam. You are very helpful!
Avoid Verizon corporate stores - they will do everything they can to switch you off of UDP. Interact with Verizon through the phone reps only.

Ha. the unbelievable just happened ...credit department rep issued a refund on my deposits. Said I shouldn't have had to pay them since I'm authorized 10 lines. And didn't have to pay one this morning picking up another plus!!!
