Ha. the unbelievable just happened ...credit department rep issued a refund on my deposits. Said I shouldn't have had to pay them since I'm authorized 10 lines. And didn't have to pay one this morning picking up another plus!!!
Is there a direct phone number for credit dept or do you just ask to be transferred to them?

what exactly is involved in creating a sub account?? I know I need to call the aol line but once I aol every line does it just close out?? I already reached the max of 3 on my nationwide individual line and would like a couple more but don't know whats involved really

Between the Nexus and the Turbo, I'd go for the Turbo because of the smaller size and huge battery. Especially if it's the souped up Moto X we all hope it is.

No. There was a prompt during store pick up today to call a number so the apple rep called it and the verizon rep said initially that I would need to pay a $125 deposit but then asked to speak to me and verified how many deposits I had to pay in the past and then said I shouldn't have had to pay that since I was authorized 10 lines. loving verizon for so many reasons!!!

Nope - can't have more than 5 lines on a NationWide family share plan. No exceptions. No subaccount trickery can get out of that limitation.

The last thing I would want to put on an already gigantic phone is a bulky otterbox case.

I don't like putting them in the cases. But I have to have a holster to carry it at work. And I like the protection because as soon as I take it out of a case I'm bound to destroy it.

Verizon claims the SIM card ICCIDs get kicked out of their system eventually if they are inactive. Never has happened to me. I have reactivated SIM cards over 1 year old no issues.

PSA - the GIGANTIC Nexus goes on pre-order on the 29th through the playstore. I need to flip 2 more iPhone6+ to get it.

Thanks for the response.

That Nexus looks mighty nice. Great construction. I'm currently on a GS5, but I might sell it for the Nexus. Of course, I'm going to wait for the reviews to come in first. I'm definitely not a bleeding edge user.

I'm a sucker for a thin phone and the Turbo seems a bit to thick. Not sure about the Nexus. Previews seem to indicate that it is pretty thin.

Avoid Verizon corporate stores - they will do everything they can to switch you off of UDP. Interact with Verizon through the phone reps only.

On that note, can you switch devices from the web only? (and if I need a new sim, do I have to go into a verizon store or can I do that from the web too?)

Turbo doesn't have an unlockable bootloader.

If you are only looking at the hardware of a device, you will NEVER understand the appeal of a Nexus.

Call and they mail them to you for free. Or you can buy them from Verizon Authorized Retailers.

One guy on slick deals went into a Verizon corporate store to do a device change and when he left, he was switched off of his UDP. Anytime a Verizon rep is looking at your account, you need to log on and check that they didn't eff with your UDP. Doesn't happen all the time, but it has happened enough times that I won't set foot in a Verizon corporate store.

Just learned about AOL of UDP and am trying to catch up on all the details. Can someone tell me if I can do an AOL to a MIFI? It's the only unused device I currently have available, or do I have to start with a smartphone?

just AOL the line. Then log online and put the MiFi on the line yourself.

You will not get a Verizon rep to put a MIFI device on a phone line for you. Do not call Verizon about your account with a MIFI device on your phone line. Put a smartphone on it. People have had reps take away their UDP for that and then they had to file Inactive Pricing Requests to get it back.

What plan do you have in your main account?

I have the MORE everything currently, but am renting a UPD line that has my MIFI on it (rural, only unlimited option).

So I can just do the AOL without assigning a device to it at the time? And then use a deactivated Verizon SIM i have available to add the MIFI online? Any benefit one way or the other of doing an AOL to a sub account or a new account in the wife's name?

Thanks for the information, and while I don't have PMs available yet I should be reachable through email for anyone interested.

You need to create a subaccount or the new line will be merged into your ME plan.

I have no idea what this even means.

Open a subaccount for the UDP line and tell the rep to suspend the line with billing. Then register for online access to the subaccount and unsuspend the line and put the MiFi on it.

Yes.

No, unless once you get the UDP line you want to turn it into a UDP line factory.

If you live in a very rural area where people rent UDP lines you could probably hand these 2 year UDP line contracts out like candy on Halloween.

One of the lines I recently gave away was to someone that was doing that. He rents out Mifi with UDP lines for $150/month. I wonder how much those Mifi's are to buy?

There are different models and some are more expensive then others. Verizon has the newer models on their website.

Thanks Jules, very helpful information.

So I wonder how you would set that up. I guess you would need some sort of business account to do more then a few. Even still if you got the cheapest plan @700 min for $70+$30 for additional lines+$150 for data= $250/month. If you had all rented out you'd bring in at his prices $750/month.

That's a pretty good profit every month. The question is how hard would it be to get an account with 5 Mifi devices on it with UDP?

So if you are going to join forces with us to achieve our noble goal of bringing affordable iPhones and Verizon UDP lines to the masses, you should open an account in your wife's name to maximize the number of lines since you already have a ME plan in your account.

Also, to add new UDP lines, you will likely need to convert an individual line to a single line Family Share if the line comes to you as an individual line. But if the person who is AOLing it to you has it as part of a family share plan, it will come to you as a single line family share already.

Hello just sharing what I did for my subaccount.

I called the AOL Dept. to accept the UDP line. I told them that I wanted to receive this line as a subaccount AND that I wanted to maintain the line as it was and to not change any features that came with the plan. The lady who processed it was very good and helpful. She knew what she was doing and when she saw it was unlimited data line she understood my request even better. She was able to put this line in a subaccount and it maintained the Nationwide Family share status so that was sweet because I'm now working on my family member lines.

She also took the info of my iPhone. This iPhone was attached to another line in my primary ME plan. There were no issues doing that. After I accepted the email with the terms and conditions the line activated on my phone previously used for the ME. I had to give her 2 numbers available to me on the phone settings. The IMEI and the one long number which I suppose is the SIM Id.

Idk, I have a real job that I am going back to soon, lol! Figure it all out for us and then let us know.

BTW - reselling Verizon's service is grounds for terminating your Verizon account. There is no arguing that.

But what if its an extra account that I don't care if its terminated? ;)

What phone is on your ME line?

Yes, the ICCID number is the SIM card number.

It would need to be in someone else's name. Your fiance would do.

Already done and done. I have a real job too, lucky for me I'm at it now and currently not too busy that I can't plot these evil schemes. :)

What happens if an account is terminated? You just lose your service correct? What happens if you're under contract?

Jules no phone is attached to that line at the moment. It just says 4G Smartphone PDI.

I told her that I didn't want to cancel the line because I was going to get another phone for that line. But really I may just cancel it after I port my number out to Google.

I was just too afraid they would screw up the UDP if I asked her to port out my number to the new UDP line.

Yes, you are no longer a Verizon customer.

What happens if you're under contract?
There is no way they can charge you the etf, but they can terminate the contract for reselling their service.

Ah, so it is a 4G smartphone placeholder device ID!!!!! Perfect! They eliminated dummy ESNs but they can put a 4G smartphone placeholder device id on your line.

This is what people need to ask for b/f they AOL a line to someone else - ask the AOL reps to put the 4G Smartphone PDI on the line.

I was just too afraid they would screw up the UDP if I asked her to port out my number to the new UDP line.
If you want to terminate a line, porting to page plus is faster but you need a device to do it.

Turbo doesn't have an unlockable bootloader.

If you are only looking at the hardware of a device, you will NEVER understand the appeal of a Nexus.

I've had Nexus phones before. I know exactly why they're desirable. I also have had more than enough Android phones to know that most of them can be rooted and unlocked to do exactly what you need them to do. Some take more work than others, most take more work than a Nexus, but it's disingenuous to suggest that the Nexus line is the only line of Android phone usable with the mobile hotspot function for UDP.

Therefore I think it's quite valid to compare the hardware of the phones, because "how easy is it to root" isn't the only thing a person should consider when buying a new phone.
