Update - you cannot suspend a line without billing that has a PDI on it. Also, if someone has a PDI on a line, they need to put a phone on it quickly b/c if they exceed the allowed time, they will trigger an internal review and that will prompt a call from Verizon to get a phone on the line. If you don't, they can cancel the line.

I can't get anyone to quote me that 14 days is the time frame that will trigger the review.

What is a PDI?

from what i gather from previous posts PDI = Provisional Device ID. aka a temporary device placeholder for your line while you get a real device to put on the line.

I have for the last year or more had 2 sims I switched back and forth on one phone without one problem, I even used IMEI numbers from phones I got rid of a long time ago to activate sim cards and than used them on phones, I always thought this was norm

So you have 2 lines with active SIM cards but only 1 phone b/t the 2 lines?

As long as the phones with those IMEI numbers aren't currently active on another Verizon line you can do that.

So my ship to home order has been a fiasco. The phone still will not activate! I've tried everything I know, even trying to activate it on a non-UDP line. I have a return authorization from apple to ship it back tomorrow, but before I do does anyone have any last "hail mary's" I could try? The line is active on my account, but the phone will not activate. Is there any concern calling Verizon at this point to see if they could push it through?

Can you take a screen shot of what you see in Verizon online and post it with blacking out your personal info?

whatever sim I am not using I put in my ipad air and it shows as a non Verizon device because my ipad is ATT , but have used both sims in iphone and ipad and vice versa for well over a year

OK, well then you do have a device on every line. I say phone, but it is really device not phone.

And yes, LTE only devices are different from phones in that you can get away with activating a non-whitelisted LTE only device but you cannot get away with that with a phone b/c of the CDMA component - only whitelisted phones can get on the Verizon network.

but some days I will put the sim I use on the ipad in the phone if I want to carry that number for the day and not put the sim I took out of the phone in anything

This is actually not true anymore.

The iPhone 6/6 Plus are true world phones. In past iPhones, the CDMA radio on the GSM models were shut off.

All radios are now active on all devices. Verizon won't "activate" a device that isn't whitelisted, but as I've said before, if you put a sim in an unlocked iPhone 6/6Plus, it will work!

The reason is that part of the FCC regulations say that customers must be able to use their SIM card in whichever device they choose. :D:D

Correct - this means that you have the phone on 2 lines at once, entirely possible - this is what I do.

Yes, that is what Marky does. You effectively have the same phone on 2 lines.

So the "a phone cannot be on 2 lines at one time" rule does not hold for Verizon 4G LTE phones if you have 2 SIM cards already active on 2 different lines.

The already active part is important. Where you would get in trouble is if someone who bought the iPhone did not have an already active nano SIM card to pop into the iPhone and had to try to get Verizon to activate a new nano SIM card in the iPhone while the phone was still active on a Verizon UDP line owned by someone else.

Ah, OK that is what has changed. The GSM phones have the Verizon and Sprint CDMA binaries now. In the past they didn't.

OK so if I buy my relatives on ATT an unlocked GSM iPhone 6, once their contracts on ATT end and they come over to Verizon, they can still use those unlocked GSM phones as long as I have already activated SIM cards for them to use?

When you first log in it should show you all of your lines with little pictures of the phones that are on the lines.

I think this is what you are looking for. The 2nd line in is the one I cannot get the phone to activate on. I'm extremely frustrated

Have you tried

activating through wifi
activating with another sim
bringing into apple store
activating through iTunes

what error are you getting?

Precisely! (From what I've read, no first hand experience...)

That picture is showing that the SIM card in the phone did activate. When you say the phone won't activate, do you mean the phone won't work?

Also, if the SIM activates that means your phone was able to connect to the network so the radios work.

I've done all of those. Spent a couple of hours in the Apple store and they were stumped. iTunes just says "Your request couldn't be processed". I just get a "could not reach the activation server error."

I think I may have just figured it out, but it still isn't activated. I pulled up the original order in the Apple Store app and the first estimated ship date was Oct 23rd. That's different from the email I received which said the 20th. I'm wondering if I just need to wait until the 23rd and see if the activation window opens up. Since I already have a return authorization, I could just hold the phone for another 36 hours and see what happens. If it doesn't activate on the 23rd then off to FedEx we go.

Apple wouldn't just replace the phone..? Especially if you already had your line on your account, obviously the phone is defective. Should just schedule a Genius Appointment to get the phone swapped out . Sucks, because you probably want to sell the phone though.

Different phone...the phone I'm trying to activate is a 6 for my wife. The 6+ is mine. I think it has to do with the activation window. I have an email saying it was estimated to arrive the 20th, but when I looked back at the original order in the Apple Store app it says expected to ship the 23rd. I think I just have to wait another couple of days and see if the activation window opens up. If it doesn't I'll just use the return shipping label.

No, actually want to keep this one. It was a surprise gift for my wife, actually arrived on her birthday a week ago and it's just sitting here.

The Apple store has been no help whatsoever....

All of the lines in that picture you posted have been fully activated.

Did you set up a genius appointment? Or just walk in? Just tell them flat out that you want a working phone that you can put your sim card in. Get it all fixed right there easy.
