Credit authorization declined was the error on the second phone. If I hadn't canceled my line this morning, this would be the 6th line on that family share plan. Do you think that is what the problem is - that the cancellation didn't fully process yet? The other line is gone from my account. This would make the number of phones on my account 9 but would be 10 if I had not canceled one this morning.
Or is it b/c I tried to do 2 new lines in 1 day?
Effer made me open the phone and activate it. He would not budge on that.

did you try "this is a gift"? I've had one that opened the phone. So he can activate.... but we only got through 3rd step, and that was it....
That's odd. All of my purchases were very easy. As soon as they finish scanning and I sign for it. They handed me the phone and I'm out the door. Most of the time they don't even offer me a bag.
Yes, but he wouldn't budge. I wouldn't let him at first and said no, none of the other reps make you do it and he asked their names and said they aren't supposed to do that. He absolutely would not let me take that phone. He said if you want to take this phone out of this store it has to be activated.

only one place. i tried "no one else ever did." As Jules pointed out, he also said that is the policy, everyone is doing it wrong. It has to be activated before I leave the store. I also pointed out that it is "activated" as soon as he scanned. He didnt care. He is the only one ever.

Credit department says I am authorized to add a line and Verizon doesn't know why I got that error at Apple.
They said to have Apple call the Verizon activations team. Um, no, I think I will pass on that, lol!
I will try a p/u one more time but if it doesn't work, then I will cancel it.
not only he opened mine, he took the whole plastic wrap off.... i usually just take the bottom off, he took it all off.... =(

i think it may be that you just returned the phone. didnt someone here once said, the supply is still short, you just returned a phone that will not be in circulation.... they probably dont like you very much right now...
Mine, too! He had some knife thing and started to open the plastic with it and I said "Stop" I don't want you doing that, if you insist, I will do it. I told him I didn't want him touching my phone. He was not happy.
The error wasn't from Apple though it was from Verizon. Then it's your property. Take it & leave. Tell the "Genius" that you'll call PD right then & there from your cell & file on them when an officer arrives if he doesn't hand you the phone.
Apple stores must be hiring the same fools that want $15 per hour to flip burgers.
BB and all of the other 3rd party retailers won't let you leave with an unactivated phone. It has to do with how they get paid by Verizon. And it is why all of the upgrade methods at 3rd party retailers are ship to home only except 4ever method.
Now having said that, for new lines at apple I believe the scan activation does the trick b/c it creates the new line and they get credit for that. But idk. The bottom line is I was going to activate the phone anyhow b/c I have to take the SIM card out of the phone to sell it and once you do, then it is not sealed.

I even offered to show the rep in MyVerizon how the line had showed up after the scan activation and he told me that he was the expert and he had to see Verizon on the status bar of the phone b/f I could leave with the phone, lol!

last year they never sold the Verzon Note 3 dev ed so hopefully it will be better this year b/c if you can't get touchwiz off of the Note 4, it is not worth having.not sure Nexus 6 or Note 4 developer edition. or may be
