Just got off of the phone with a rep and she said the 30 minute loyalty plan does not include free Verizon mobile to mobile minutes nor is it free nights and weekends.

She had to check to see if you could add a data plan and when she did she was told yes as long as it was a $30/mo minimum plan.

Hopefully they wouldn't notice that UDP is only $29.99/mo.

----------

F#$k, it's a 1 year contract apparently, one of these lines were set to go off contract at the end of November. Now the contract end date on both is Sept 2015.
That sucks for you, but are you saying that you can get them to convert a 2 year NW contract to a 1 year Loyalty contract and keep UDP? That would be FANTASTIC!!!!

The downside would be no subsidized upgrades, though.

----------

He called me back to let me know his bill will be under $50 because Verizon offered to change from 450 min for $39, down to 30 min for $15! I did a Google search and couldn't find anything about it. I called Verizon and they let me have it with a 1 year commitment.
So does it convert the contract length from 2 years to 1 year?

That would seem to be the case. Both of these lines were added to get the subsidized price for smartphones in 2012 & 2013. The smartphones were transferred to our grandfathered UDP plans, and we put dumb phones on these lines. I just noticed that the contract extended for 1 year from the time this sub account was created.

I have 5 lines on the 700 Nationwide Talk & Text Shared 700 plan, 1 line with UDP off contract, and 2 other lines off contract. The goal is to add UDP to the two lines not under contract. I have ported one number to Page Plus and it is activated there and shows up on my Page Plus login. But that number still shows on my Verizon account as "This device is suspended."

1) How long does it take before this line does not show on My Verizon ?

2) I assume that I have to wait until it disappears from My Verizon to place my porting order on Apple. Correct ?

3) Can I start this process with the 2nd line now, or should I wait until the first one is completed?

Thanks in advance.

1. After 24/48 hrs that you transferred out to page plus, call Verizon to have them cancel or terminate the line and then you are free to port back in the number from page plus for your desired line. You can do this in one call to Verizon as I did. You must already have the UDP line in your account already to port back in.

2. You should place your order to apple ASAP to create your UDP line. It doesn't matter what number you get with this order. You are going to port back in anyway from your page plus line.

3. You can create the lines now to have them ready to go. Unless you have extra phones laying around you will port in and out of page plus one by one until all your lines have the UDP with your desired phone #. That's how I did my lines. One spare phone and one line at a time.

The only thing I would be worried about with an iPad or MiFi device on the line is calling Verizon - I would definitely switch a phone to the line b/f doing that.

Although they should be treating 4G LTE tablets no differently than phones, you never know what a rep will do and then trying to undo the mess would result in unwanted scrutiny of your account.

As for MiFis - I am not sure that the block C license restrictions protect those.

I currently have a single line UDL Nationwide 300 minutes w/ $10 1000 text. I don't see the unlimited option. Do I need to change any part of my plan to see the option and add a line?

Can someone assist me with my question?
I really want to add another line to my single line account but don't see the unlimited option. TIA

JulianeV, thank you for taking the time to reply and provide your knowledge.

Since I have 5 lines on my share plan, I need my number ported to Pageplus to disappear from Verizon so that I can add a new line (with UDP). I thought 5 lines was the maximum on the share plan. I do not have a subaccount set up and I think lines on a subaccount would have to have another share plan and incur that cost. Since that is not my end game goal, I'd rather not go there.

On the Apple site, you have an option to port an existing number or to get a new phone number. I thought the only way to keep my number was to port it (now from Pageplus). Why would I not do this in one step when I order the new line? If the UDP line was already on my account, I didn't think you could change the number without losing UDP.

I am a newbie to number porting so your help is appreciated. I am hoping to never call Verizon, but may have to to get the suspended device removed.

Friend of mine went to pick up an order placed online and something interesting happened..

Upon checking out, he got to the screen on the rep's device where you choose the 700 min unlimited text blah blah, which is fine, but after that, the part when you choose data, it only showed 300mb, 1gb, 2gb etc.. but no iPhone Unlmited

Anyways I told him to just pick the 300mb and we'll just do the tmo dance.

Got home, checked his account and it showed up the new number with unlimited data :D

Not sure if it's a fluke or not but just sharing.. Hopefully no one does this and the data turns out not to be unlimited. So it could be one of those YMMV or the store has updated their system.. ah well.

That doesn't work if you are adding a line. It only works if you are switching carriers and are a new customer. If you try to use it, IIRC you end up with a phone that won't activate b/c the line won't create, Verizon gets involved and you end up with a 2GB plan.

Port to page plus, wait for the line to cancel, call if it doesn't cancel and then add a new UDP line. Then port the number back to the new UDP line.

----------

Change it to 700 nationwide family plan? That could work.
Yes, a single line 700 min FS plan with payg texts worked for me.

I just took over a line that has A UDP, but want to buy an iPhone 6 plus, what's the best way to purchase the phone? Also can I suspend the service til I get a phone? Another question, what is the best way to port my current ATT phone number to this plan?

In that case then yes you would have to do it the way you are planning. I forgot you are already on the nationwide plan. To get that suspended line out you will have to call Verizon. I usually just call technical support.

If you are OK paying full price and sales tax, I asked at the Apple Store and was told that they will sell full priced Verizon phones to anyone - you don't have to have a Verizon account. Check to see if you can do it online.

Other than that, ebay and swappa.

Also can I suspend the service til I get a phone?
Not if it has a PDI on the line but if there is a device left on the line from the person sending you the line, yes.

Another question, what is the best way to port my current ATT phone number to this plan?
Through Verizon directly from ATT to the Verizon line once you get the Verizon line. There is no need for you to use GV or a prepaid carrier. But you need the Verizon line first.

comb through ebay or swappa… or turn on your pm, I'm sure there are people here who can hook you up. It all depends on how much work you want to do yourself, or buy everything in one shot.

porting from att to verizon, can all be done over the phone…..

What is "suspended without billing"? Thanks.
You can suspend any line on Verizon w/o billing or w/billing. Without billing you don't get billed but your contract and upgrade dates are extended by 1 day for each day the line is suspended w/o billing. You can do that for up to 90 days in a row then the line automatically unsuspends. Then you can do it for another 90 days b/f you have to start paying on the line.

You cannot suspend a line w/o billing that has a PDI on it. Verizon audits lines that have PDIs on them and if they see it suspended w/o billing idk what they will do but at the very least, they will see you have a brand spankin' new UDP line. I wouldn't want Verizon reps looking at my brand spankin' new UDP line.

I have engaged in more SIM card trickery!

I have the same iP5s on 3 lines at once - 2 lines are suspended w/o billing and the other one is active. The iP5s was activated on each of the 3 lines using a different SIM card and the SIM cards are each associated only with 1 line. Before activating the iP5s on a new line, I suspended all other lines the iP5s was activated on.

Idk what would happen if I unsuspend 1 of the suspended lines such that the same phone was on 2 active lines at once. But for now I can tell you that you can activate the same phone on 3 different lines using 3 different SIM cards as long as only 1 line remains active.

I will keep you posted as to how much more SIM card trickery I can get away with, lol! Actually though, this is not really SIM card trickery as I used a different SIM card every time. So never was the same SIM card associated with 2 phones at once. What I have is the same phone associated with 3 different SIM cards but only 1 SIM card active at a time.

I thought I read earlier in this thread that if you pick up in store you can just have them scan it in and take it home to activate it yourself. Is that not the case?

It worked for 6 out of the 7 I have done so far. For 1 of the 7 the jerk apple rep refused to let me leave with an unactivated iPhone.

I am confused - if you order online for in-store p/u, you pick the data plan when you ordered online. When you get to the store, they just scan activate the line.

The only time you pick the data plan in-store is when you do a new UDP line order in-store.

Lots of people can't activate the phones when they choose ship to home. Some can but it is hit or miss. Apple engineers have been able to fix the problem for some people but not all.

You also can order a new UDP line in-store.

Once the inventory/demand mismatch clears up, the ship to home may be more reliable.

Thanks. I thought it was okay to ship to home with add a line too. The store is about three hours away so I may try something else.

Wondering if anyone had success ordering from apple after a failed attempt at ship to home (add a line) and not being able to activate the phone? I do not recall anyone returning to report success.

Is it still a problem with AOL on the weekends? I may have to take the the AOL route.

Thanks

Ship to home is going to remain a problem until the supply starts to approach the demand.
