Since WinG first appeared back around Windows 3.x, Microsoft has been courting game developers.

Apple had the same chances back then, and chose to put together a half-hearted effort during MacOS 8.5, and dropped that too soon. Then, they picked OpenGL for Mac OS X and not much else.

Intel hasn't done anything to deserve praise for games on Windows. They just know that they're being attacked from all sides and they're going to become a niche player.

I only play WoW. I play on an M1 Mac mini and get 99 to 107 FPS with sync off. Heat is not an issue. Don't have to water cool it. If I want to move it I can. It plays better and cooler than any other intel based Mac that I've owned. I have only one beef with the M1 Mac. Actually that beef is more with MOTU than apple.

Funny thing is they are comparing to a macbook pro WITH INTEL processor inside.

I actually own a windows pc for the only reason that I play games with it. I would prefer macOS for everything else but I end up working on windows as well due to its superiority in gaming. I hope apple will wake up in this sector and stop proposing that we all use the fisherprice arcade subscription

Well, gaming on Macs sucks in general even though the machines are beasts when it comes to productivity.

Do you mean than your current PC? Because a PC with the new 3000 series Nvidia cards look beautiful on an OLED and can offer a better experience, though at 3x the cost ;) Enjoy that series x, amazing with Game Pass!
Gave up on PCs and PC building in 2012 when I got my first iMac. Had the Series X since launch day, and just upgraded my 55" LG OLED to the CX 65".... arrives Friday. Can't wait ;)

Intel need to **** until they have chips that run with full performance when NOT on mains power rather than dialling them back even when high performance mode is enabled. They likely do this to meet their battery time figures. And let’s not even mention the fan noise.

I have a gaming laptop, Xbox Series X, PS5 and switch. None of which have intel chips. The gaming laptop is loud AF and everything else is near silent, makes playing on the gaming laptop undesirable. For everything non gaming I use my M1 Air and iPad Pro.

Intel is saying that a new Nvidia card is better than an older AMD one? Who woulda thunk... except that has nothing to do with Intel. They're also saying that their newer CPU beats their own older CPU... I SHOULD HOPE SO! That's the bare minimum. But with Rocket Lake, Intel has struggled to do even that, so I guess for them that would be an accomplishment to brag about. But yes, Windows (not Intel) beats Mac for gaming.

With Apple making up a small percentage of Intel's sales and revenue, as well as still being an Intel customer (who they have openly said they hope to win back for foundry) this doesn't make much sense. You have to wonder if someone high up at Intel loves Macs and and is pissed that Apple left because now they can't use them anymore. Or maybe I'm overthinking this. Maybe Ryan Shrout just truly believes that the best angle for Intel's marketing department to take is "Apple's crazy ex-girlfriend".

No Intel. It is Windows that has much better gaming experience MacOS, not you. Unfortunately Intel, you are the one hindering that experience unlike AMD
I actually have a story about this, back in the way I was a die hard Intel fan, then with an intel motherboard and processor I was having dolby 5.1 issues with ITunes using Windows. I cannot stress this enough but I ended Up Just casually emailing Tim Cook(his email is public if you know where to look) about this issue because I could not get 5.1 surround channels through itunes and although he never replied his secretary’s re directed it to the right and proper channels.

Fast forward on going sessions with tier 2 support, escalating to senior supports and finally engaging with Apple Engineers that actually bought the same exact setup to replicate the same issue after like 4 months, Apple came to the conclusion that Intel was preventing and restricting the 5.1 which at the time I was using optical outputs by the way unless you used their Realtek software. That sold me to AmD ever since and have not looked back, and Hey what do you know the moment I bought my AMD compatible motherboard and processor the issue never came back up EVER!!! Hahaha

Poor timing on Intel's behalf. WWDC is next week, I bet Apple will have a subtle yet strong stab at this in their keynote. Intel must be really afraid of M2.

Since intel doesn't make or sell PC laptops or desktops, you gotta know they are very concerned about their sustained viability. Yes the news media will be focused on hints and demos of what Apple shows off at WWDC in slight less then 7 days time.

Well, yeah. This is one of things that will always be true, may as well market with it I guess.

The issue for Intel is that they’re losing market share to AMD as well.

Intel actually stating real facts for once 😄. Of course PC's will be much better than any macs for gaming.

Everybody please, clap for Intel. After millions of dollars in market research, they came to the conclusion that Macs aren’t really for gaming.

Give it up for these cutting edge thinkers. Bravo Intel.

It really is no wonder why AMD is dunking on these people sideways right now.

But just you wait, Intel. Apple is coming with a whopper gaming machine and a gaming Apple TV.

At this point Intel wants to die. :D
pretty sure that will come - key roadblock for Apple seems that they currently have better use for the fast ARM chips in other machines - so the gaming ATV will have to wait a year or so. So Intel - enjoy the ride while it lasts ...

If only I could play Trails in the Sky 1-3 on Mac. That would be WONDERFUL. Even the Macbook Air would have MORE than enough performance for it, its a Direct X 8 title that was ported to Direct X 9. This is all I am using my Windows PC for these days. My 2020 desktop with an older GPU is overkill for these games, and I would prefer to play it on my Mac.

I mean they're not wrong. I used to be a casual gamer but I chose Mac due to everything else (I highly prefer the OS and the lack of a need to keep reinstalling Windows every year or so). One thing I feel I missed out on is gaming. Valve did release a bunch of games for Mac but then Apple went 64 bit only making these games incompatible. So there never really was a reliable way to play games on Mac other than through Bootcamp. And even then I have no idea why Mac GPUs are so bad at gaming. For whatever reason Apple just ignores the fact that people like to play games on computers, regardless of their OS preference. It's not like only Windows people like to play games, everyone does. Mac people just prefer Mac to Windows and put up with the lack of gaming. Quite a shame really.
