I guess even Apple didn't consider Clovertown an upgrade.[/size]
Nope! It was an addition to the lineup. There was no change to any of the Mac Pros that Apple started selling in August of 2006.

Haven't we said that since April now?Nope! It was an addition to the lineup. There was no change to any of the Mac Pros that Apple started selling in August of 2006.

AHHHHH!
I cant believe it!
That actually updated the macbooks before the macpros!!
Geez, that stinks, the macbooks didnt even really need it (especially compared to the macpros). I hope this means that the macpro updates are just around the corner.....
...or maybe they'll update the rest of the line up before the macpros...
gotta love apple![]()

I don't think it will be a silent update. There are too many things that need refreshed. I think Apple will crow about it when they finally announce it. I expect the new chips, updated min RAM, new video options, increased baseline storage as the minimum. Hopefully eSATA, an HD optical drive option, and built in RAID, too.
I just wish someone from one of the rumor sites would take this on as an assignment and dig out some facts. There isn't another item on the Apple lineup that hasn't been refreshed in the last few months that I can think of.

Product Mac Pro Recommendation: Don't Buy - Updates soon
I will definitely follow this advise, Mr. Buyer's guide

See, I will follow it too, but what scares me is what it says under the Xserve. 452 (Avg = 309). MacPro is well over 400 days as well.
If my quick math is correct, Mac Pro is at 467 days and ticking.Well over double the average listed in the MR buyer's guide, but that average would be slightly skewed since they do indeed count April as an update, which I disagree with, but there it is.
See, I will follow it too, but what scares me is what it says under the Xserve. 452 (Avg = 309) ... I don't want the MacPro to go over that long, but in theory it already has since MacRumors is considering April 2007 as an update. MacPro is well over 400 days as well.
I'm hoping they make an update soon as well, and would like to see an entry level machine around $2000.
There really is a gap between the iMac and Mac Pro.
It just occurred to me that no-one has mentioned the possibility of a MacPro redesign? The iMacs - started out life as a G5 and then got the intel chips then got a redesign, there's rumors everywhere about the MacMini getting a facelift (MacNano or whatever) so why not the MacPro? With the recent 'glass and aluminium' trend I'd personally love to see how that might look in a workstation.
Wow, looks like Apple did consider this an update to the Pro.what the heck??? 11/01/07???

MacBook Pro (late 2007)???????

Well even at $2000 you would still need to purchase an LCD. I'd like to see something come along that offers more expandability than an iMac, but perhaps with a consumer level CPU. Even an iMac type configuration in a tower style case. There can't be an entry level MacPro at $2000, that's way too close to the iMac prices. Why would someone even consider buying an iMac then, when they could purchase a MacPro 4x faster for the same price? It'll stay with the traditional price range, $2499 for mid-range. Or maybe $2399.
Also, you don't have a brother, Brian Mosher, do you? lol
