wow wow wow SERIOUSLY???!

okay maybe I need to wait an hour for it to reload but my status still says "Backordered" WTF ????? so who should be crying now? All you guys already say "shipping September" or something and i have nothing!!! It's okay I can wait. I just want SL before school starts so I can reorganize n stuff.
 
Just got off the phone with Apple and here's what I've found out:

Apparently they're shipping the (U.S.) UTD discs through USPS and missed the deadline for shipping yesterday. They're estimating that they'll arrive on Tuesday.

I'm a little perturbed, but it's not from getting the discs "late", it's from being told incorrect information over and over.

I'm heading to Europe tomorrow (for three weeks). I went to the online chat on Monday and asked specifically if I would receive the UTD disc on Friday. If not, I was going to order the full retail version instead so that I could install Snow Leopard on my MacBook before I left. I was told repeatedly by Brian that the disc would arrive on time.

When it didn't arrive today, I went back to the chat line and Chris told me that because my order still showed "Not Yet Shipped" that I could call and cancel it. I asked him if he could double-check the status before I waited on hold for fifteen minutes and he said there was no need to as that was the most up-to-date information.

Of course, I call, they tell me it was Prepared for Shipment yesterday and they couldn't cancel it.

My problem here is that I trusted my excellent customer experience with Apple too much and assumed that they had told me correct information (both times). If this was Comcast or AT&T, I would have called several times to get a good sample size of information and try to determine what I should do from there.

I'm not upset at not getting the disc, I'm upset that I was twice given incorrect information from a company who has always had excellent customer service in the past.
 
Ordered mine on July 3rd. Finally got an e-mail today saying it shipped yesterday with an expected Delivery Date of September 1.

Weird that people who ordered by this past Wednesday night could get theirs by today.

Oh well...
 
Here's Apple's response to those who actually DESERVE Snow Leopard TODAY who bought a new Mac since announcement of Up To Date... F@CK YOU and your $10!

I get an email today saying my SL disk went out via Postal Mail today. And everyone that ordered SL for $29 GOT IT TODAY.

So screw ME who paid $2k for a new computer!!! And praise to the person that spent $29 for SL.

How wrong is this??? I am really sick of Apple's *****! It never ends... FU if we already have your money! FU if you spent $2k. FU FU FU...

I hope Apple's sales DROP. I hope SL is a flop. I hope Apple loses money next year. Then it will be forced to start giving a crap about its customers again. It didn't used to be this way. Apple now has an FU attitude from sales, to support, to shipping products, to etc. They just don't care if they already got my money...

I hope Windows 7 rebounds Microsoft and makes Apple need to compete! Honestly, this situation has gotten this bad because Apple is arrogant and cocky! It has too much money, and too many fanboys like ME!

I am really frustrated with Apple. I think its build quality has gone to crap. I think its customer service is worse than EVER. I think it's going to take some failures and downturn for Apple for it to realize how wrong it has been treating its core customers!

UTD SL copies should have been NUMBER ONE PRIORITY! We should have got them before available in the store! This is really shame on Apple...

I ordered the $29 version earlier this week. and mine actually went on backorder and i live in california. i cancelled it. went to the store today and it took me 2 min to get.

It's a matter of principle! Actually, I got a FedEx package with Snow Leopard TODAY! AND I was originally confused, but my Mom had known it was coming out and pre-ordered it for me as a gift for giving her a new computer.

But the point is Apple should have thought enough of its customers who bought $1000 plus systems (in my case $2000) and promised them SL. It doesn't matter that they didn't promise UTD customers they would receive it today... it's a matter of principle, Apple gets its money and forgets about you. Apple can get $29 from someone else and treats them like royalty!

And Snow Leopard is somewhat of a joke too... no default 64-bit kernel! No drivers for people that bought Macs within the last three years that are 64-bit capable! It's an all around attitude of arrogance and disrespect for money already spent. More than that, it's a decision meant to try to get MORE SALES! I believe Apple priced it at $29 to entice people to get it then realize they couldn't get 64-bit kernel and would decide to upgrade to a new model Mac. I really believe that is why they did this with both the drivers and kernel! Look at all the people complaining or wondering why their Mac will not boot into 64-bit kernel! It doesn't matter that the apps are 64-bit...

First off just wondering. Why do YOU need 64 bit? (I know what 64 bit is, I'm asking why you personally need it). Second off. This whole update was meant to get people on the most updated technology. They dropped PowerPC support, etc.

To be fair, it is insane how poorly UTD was handled. I couldn't cancel it a week ago because it was "preparing for shipment" but it didn't ship until today? This isn't worth switching over but it it was incompetently handled.

UTD order placed July 7, scheduled for delivery on Sept 2. Appreciate the inexpensive upgrade but being prioritized behind recent retail orders is just bad business.

Seriously, you are more than a bit manic/depressive and you don't have a clue how 64 bit works in SL.

You DON'T NEED the 64 bit kernel. Get it? All your apps will run fine in 64 bit even if you boot with the 64 bit kernel. And if you really need a 64 bit kernel just to feel good you can boot most current machine holding the 6 and 4 keys, or editing a plist file, or using the nvram command. I've been using SL for months as part of the beta seeding and I can boot my MBP just fine with a 64 bit kernel. It defaults to 32 bit so whiney people won't complain when Fusion or Parallels stop working since they don't have 64 bit kernel extensions yet.

And yes, I paid for an up to date upgrade and a family pack. My family pack arrived today and the update to date hasn't shipped yet. Get over it. It's $9.95.
 
I guess I will just have to wait a couple of days before canceling my "backorder" SERIOUSLY APPLE? WTF? I <3  (iPod Touch, MacBook Pro 17", etc.) but this is making me mad.

sure it ends or it can end for you. stop buying their products, pure and simple. then from that moment on, Apple can't piss you off and you'll be on with your life.

sheez...... next thing you'll know is we'll start seeing riots breaking out from some people not getting their SL disks today. :rolleyes:
 
umm.... can i ask why it such a big deal to have it NOW?

you have survived your whole life with out SL so i'm sure you can wait a few more days.

Because people who ordered it a few days ago have it today. People who ordered a month or more ago (I placed my UTD order on Aug. 1) are still waiting.

If Apple couldn't fill all of the orders such that they'd be received today, I can't see any reason why they couldn't / shouldn't fulfill them in the order they were placed. THAT'S the reason so many are upset.
 
Just to update the statistics.
Los Angeles (Westwood) here.

UTD ordered on Jun 21st.

This afternoon (Aug 28th) I got the email stating that the disc was shipped YESTERDAY (Aug 27th) via US Postal Service.

That's good because even if it's not trackable, US Postal Service delivers on Saturday (Fedex doesn't) so I've got chances to get it tomorrow.
Even if Apple says that it "Delivers by Sept., 1st."

1 day of delay is not such this big deal...
 
Even though I wouldn't go as far as Scottsdale does in venting his rage (mine is supposed to arrive by Sept 3 - this is after I bought a new Mac Pro and ACD from Apple in July and I'm not that bothered waiting an extra week) I have some sympathy with his point. Surely, if Apple wants to appeal to new customers who have every reason to shy away in the months leading up to a new OS release, they should treat them with priority. These customers are handing over thousands of dollars for the hardware and have every right to at least get the new OS on the day of release if not before. Customer loyalty etc. is something that Apple should get right...
 
I agree that Apple should have shipped updates with more priority than they obviously have. But it doesn't make SL a joke as was implied.
 
The 10.6 release is so bug filled that doing the update just before going out of the country is just asking for a headache. I agree they should ship it when released but my advice would be to hold the install until after the trip.
 
Go have a cry you fanboys, it'll come soon enough. I'm happy to wait, a few bugs should be fixed in about a week. You people are so sad. I bought a new Mac which I love and my UTD didn't arrive on Friday, I could care less!
