OMG, when I read this and then took a look at the poster I was dead shocked!! Scottsdale??
. You're usually a very calm person and patient with the Macbook Air line syndrome, ha ha. I agree with you about how you feel. Yes, if Apple was going to make any customers a priority it should've been the UTD customers since we all bought new computers recently. I feel the same way, I bought a 13" MBP and my UTD disc isn't arriving till tuesday while I get to sit here and read about others in their glory of installing and using SL.I use my Macbook Pro for work and I wanted to get it set up over the weekend and ready to go for monday morning so it will not interrupt my work week. It sets me back about 4+ hours getting my computer set up the way I need it.
One thing, although I do agree with your feelings about this I don't wish for Apple sales to die and for Snow Leopard to be a flop as you wish it to be, it helps no one. If things for Apple go as bad as you want them to be we are all gonna be back on Windows and Microsoft wins, which is something I can't live with it, seriously.

I don't get the outrage. Did you not read the terms and conditions of your Snow Leopard Up-to-Date order? I'm not sure why this even comes up every time Apple offers an up to date program.
Direct from Apple's 10.6 Snow Leopard up-to-date page, which you agreed to:
Upon receipt of your completed order form and the required payment, the upgrades from inventory in stock will be shipped within 24 hours via U.S. mail (U.S. postal delivery typically takes 3 to 7 working days). Canadian orders may require additional delivery time due to customs processing. Expected product availability: September 2009.
Apple reserves the right to extend the product availability date and the shipment date for any orders under this program at Apples sole discretion, upon notice to you.
Apple reserves the right to change the terms of this offer at any time without notice.

Well, my order status updated TODAY (8/28) to say it was shipped YESTERDAY (8/27) after saying "Not yet shipped" yesterday and this morning.
I was told by 2 different Apple reps that my UTD disc order would arrive on (8/28). I don't see how that can happen if they ship it via US Postal Service. My order status currently list Delivery Date as 9/1.
I wouldn't trust even this though. My credit card hasn't been charged yet, so either Apple plans on giving me my UTD for free, or hasn't shipped it yet.

Actually, Scottsdale just shouted his social status, "I am a no-life and live in my mom's basement, if I don't have cutting edge I will die!". I know it's not fair, and it sucks, etc. I also ordered the UTD for $9.95. Apple isn't perfect, we all know that. Just because it didn't arrive today doesn't mean you'll die. Let's calm down and really analyze the situation:
1. $29 gives you the retail package. Apple mass produced 5+ mil copies of these (analyst on MF front page news estimated 5 mil).
2. UTD is different from retail package.
I'm guessing Apple focused on making the retail packages first. That's why non-UTD got theirs before we did. Just like the refurbished products. Apple always releases the retail versions and then the refurbished. What we see here is something similar.
But technically Apple DID deliver their promise. When UTD was available for pre-order, it estimated a September ship date. We all thought late September. What we got was August 28th, with UTDs arriving from a range of September 1 - 11 (some people who ordered late). So what are we whining about?

Second dumbest thing I've read in this thread. Bug filled? Jeez. There's always issues but Snow Leopard is far more stable and refined than the initial Leopard release.
Ordered my up-to-date via the print out a form and post it in and pay with PayPal method. Just had it shoved through my door in the UK by Royal Mail. It was sent 1st Class so must have been shipped yesterday.
My shipping status is still 'not yet shipped' so, anyone still waiting in earnest for theirs, I wouldn't trust the status too much.

Mine came through today aswell, except mine said it was shipped on wednesday... mine was shipped as standard/2nd class.
Eh, what? The user was going to install 10.6 just before going out of the country. Perhaps he actually needs to have a fully working computer and not be a betatester himself.

iphone teathering has problems
vpn software must be reinstalled
apple's own cisco vpn function don't do connection over udp
textsize on external monitor is broken so using a projector for presentations has problems

forgetting to bring old 10.5 install disc

Pretty big ones if you are out of the country and must connect.
i'm also backordered. borrowed my co-worker's copy upgrade my laptop while i wait for my 2 copies in mail. all i'm after is the exchange support and the new quicktime. i can wait for those for my home machines. but ya i guess many are upset because of the "principal" or just high expectations for apple

Haha It's okay at least i's SANE and can handle waiting. IT'S JUST SNOW LEOPARD GUYS COME ON. Some people don't even have Macs. Lets all pay our respects with people and their Vista/ Windows 7. NOT. haha FTW!

Just checked my Saturday mail today and nope, no apple stuff came.
Man, i still can believe what a stupid decision apple made for us who ordered the UTD.
They wait until the last day (28th) to ship out and then they use regular mail for it.

My status inquiry still says backordered. Order date is 6/29/09. I had to fax mine and my card hasn't been charged yet. Is that a common symptom here?
They've clearly screwed something up. I'm maybe willing to forgive a few days if they ship it by mail instead of fedex, but for me to be backordered when I ordered that long ago and people who ordered a week ago are getting theirs is pretty bad.
And for all you people telling us to chill out and asking why we want to upgrade so soon, you're on the wrong forum. Maybe we don't NEED to update and we don't NEED 64 bit, but we want it, they promised it, and we paid for it, so we're going to bitch about it. It's the American way.

I came with the booklet and a SL "Upgrade" dvd white w/ the snow leopard pic on it. no apple stickers At this time I am thinking about holding off with it and waiting to install it for the moment.

I remember when I was paying the $9.95, Apple gave a September timeframe. Somehow, we are bitching about not receiving it on August 28th. It doesn't matter that other people got it first, we were promised a September timeframe which we got.

I was backordered as of yesterday as well. My order date is 7/17/2009 and I had to mail my order form hardcopy via snail mail.
I just checked, and voila! - Order status is now "Shipped" with a ship date of 8/30/2009. Woo hoo!
My arrival says Sept. 2nd for my UTD disk. Still getting it in early Sept like Apple said. Also I have been able to stay up on any issues, so I can avoid them. I use my macbook pro for work and other real world apps, so not having a OS on launch day hasn't affected me. When did we become so whiney?
