Worked Hard

This sunset didn't produce as much color as I was hoping for because of the approaching clouds in the distance. But, there was enough to make this lake scene interesting.

Nice shot from Sydney!

I'm not too far from there at the moment. And it's even more dreary today, don't go anywhere without an umbrella today.

Another photo from my archive:

650mm, 1/2000sec, F/7.1

I was happy to photograph that - it's not going to be seen ever again. :( Beautiful to watch.

I just got back from shooting some birds. I was really disappointed to see so many photographers with MEGA LONG lenses walking all over the vegetation and following the Snowy Owls that migrated down to the area. There are HUGE signs that clearly say to STAY OFF the area and stick to the trail and use your lens but no one other then myself obeys by the rules. They spend 8000 dollars or more for a piece of glass and 500 or more on TC converters yet they still need to get closer? WTF!!!

Anyways, excuse my rant but no one listens to me as I'm just a little kid :(

Here is my in flight photo of a Northern Harrier?

I was trying to capture a Short Earned Owl but it didn't fly by close enough for me to snap a photo of it. The Harriers love to wiz right by all the spectators. I guess they are use to it as they are constantly there all year round.

I was playing around with water drop shots yesterday, and this was one of the ones I got:

I'll probably try some different shots of water in the coming days.

^^ Yes, and a good flight photo, too. The light patch on the rump and the disk of feathers around the face are identifying features. That disk of feathers is like an owls. They have very sharp hearing. There was a pair of them buzzing the Nisqually Delta the last time I was out there, but I couldn't get a shot.

Mine for today. Worked this a bit in PhotoShop to give it a painterly look.

EXIF Summary: 1/400s f/6.3 ISO200 Sigma 120-400@400mm

This is one of my friends. I got all creepy and stuck my lens in her face (haha), but before she did anything about it I had already taken the picture. Muahahahaha!

I like this shot...it feels cold, crisp and clean...at first I thought it was snow on the ground...maybe the lack of warmth in the sunset adds to the coldness feeling? Great shot

I've not tried them myself, but I have read from those that do splash photography professionally that to properly show off a water splash you should light the background and not the splash itself directly. I can't tell if you did that or not in this one, but I just wanted to share the tip.

It wasn't that warm there, either. I had finished running around the lake (a bit over 8 mile trail) and was still a bit warm from the run, but I was cooling off pretty quick. I had to run back to my car to get my jacket in the middle of taking pictures. I met a couple of nice guys who lived nearby and photographed around the park a lot.

Today I'll decorate this forum for the holidays. This guy's house and yard is one of the ultra-decorated with all kinds of lights and plastic Christmas stuff displayed. I spent over an hour wandering around his yard taking photos of everything there (with his permission). He's very interested in seeing the shots I got, too. This is the first one I processed, and it is probably going to be my favorite just from the subject.

Been awhile since I posted anything here, I'll try to fix that.

Here is a snap from a night out with the guys. Hope all is well with everyone, and you all have a Merry Christmas!

Awoke this morning to minus zero temps and morning fog clinging to the valley floor. This week has been hectic with work and I was rushing out to get an early start when I spied this view from my living room. I grabbed my camera, stepped out onto the deck and snapped this photo. It's not even in the same ballpark as Ms. P's fog photos, but what the heck...
