Castleford Weir

The Old Flour Mill at Castleford. The light was rubbish that day, so I HDR'd and vignetted it to add a little atmosphere.

I've been lovin' the hood ornaments you've posted lately, but can't figure this one out at all. What does it go to?

Haha! It's a car horn :D

It's on a 1926 Daimler that belonged to the Maharaja of Rewa. The horns are supposed to be boa constrictors, and there's one on each fender.

:eek:look very close and you will see an ugly earwig eyeing the little bug on the flower:eek:I hate those bugs

x2. Wish you'd provide a little narative on the hood ornaments. One that looked like a Pontiac but I know it wasn't. Another was interesting, the archer astride????? The explanation of the snakes that are horns was interesting. Who'd a known? Keep those auto pics coming;) Cheers

Dang, you guys are going to make me work, eh? The first photo is from a 1933 Pierce-Arrow Silver Arrow (link to descriptive page: http://www.supercars.net/cars/1439.html). The second hood ornament is a Lalique and is named 'Victiore', also known as Spirit of the Wind'. It is mounted on a 1938 Packard Model 1608, Kellner Torpedo-Cabriolet 5.

I got this in the mail today, unsolicited, from Woot!. They're trying to get me to order something and sent me a Valentine's "gift". The monkey has a shriek box and can be launched for quite a distance using the rubber tubing it has for arms.

Ahhhhh, the old Packard Model 1608.....I was this close:) Really, thanks for the info.

I finally have some new material to show. I finally decided to head to the park about a mile from my house where the horses are kept. I will be back. Often. Today I went with the intention of trying to get some sunset shots, but I ended up just getting shots of the horses. They were super friendly and came right up to me.

I wish I could get that little noise at ISO 1600 :p Nice picture!

And, another one from me, nothing special, but I liked the result:

The island to the horizon is probably Anacapa 15 miles away, and on the top far-right of the pic is one of (in)famous oil rigs of Santa Barbara.

This is fantastic! Wonderful job.

"Ugly" and "bug" don't go together in the same sentence. :D

This is one of my University's landmarks. This shot was an exercise in both using the 10-20mm (my least used lens) and in post-processing. Three handheld exposures, processed in Photomatix Pro for a (hopefully subtle) HDR image, and later tweaked in Lightroom to get a vintage look.

Here's a crappy photo of mine...

Well I like it. I was trying the same thing last week in Stanley Park but my results were flakey. I just couldn't get the moss right in my attempts.

Here is one of my other forest shots though. I was trying to capture the contrast of the sunlight to the shaded areas.

Thanks! My old Rebel XT would have laughed at me using ISO 1600. I just got my T2i a couple months ago and that has been the biggest difference for me. I can finally shoot in some low light conditions without a ton of noise.

Here is another.

Rain can be good fun for photos!

Tonight was the photography you do, when something newsworthy happens.

I got the photos I wanted, the camera got wet too - but I decided to stick around into darkness and scored some other photos that I quite liked, such as the one above.
