Found on a busy walkway at U of T in downtown Toronto. These things are miniscule. Half a centimetre in diameter at most. Sometimes you just have to stop and look. :)

Stunning. What was your shooting location? Tilden Park?

(you lucked out with the weather over the weekend - temps were way above normal)

Thanks, Cliff3. No, not Tilden; as far as I know, most of that park offers views to the east (i.e. the opposite direction). I was on a hill right above the campus. And yes, the weather was incredible last weekend. I spent a very memorable day sailing in 80-degree weather on the bay, which was relatively empty thanks to the Super Bowl.

Some may say the ring shadow in the book idea has been overdone. It's one of those really popular ideas like the candy under the water droplets: if you've seen one, you've seen most. However, I think you've managed to pull off an extra-special version here--the best one I've seen, anyway.

Thanks Ish :)

I'd love to go on a shoot with you all one day, now imagine that :)

It was quite a place to be, around about here: 43°30'31.63"S 170° 5'55.56"E ;)

I had no idea New Zealand was so diverse. Now putting it on my destination wish list...

Excellent job of capturing the northern lights. I really like the silhouettes of the trees here.

Nisqually Estuary Boardwalk Trail.

This boardwalk just opened Feb. 1. It extends a full mile out into the Nisqually River Estuary. It has bird blinds and covered observation stations. Very cool.

I'm a sucker for stone houses like this. I find this shot to be very evocative. Not sure of what, but evocative. Can I ask, where was it taken, and what do you call this type of building in your area--i.e., stone? flagstone?
Greg

It's the infamous church at Lake Tekapo, NZ - I'm no expert in construction so I am unable to help you there sorry
Stone is a popular material, plenty of front retaining walls to properties built like this around there because it's so abundant.
I'll post a full shot of it tomorrow.

This is one I took of my girlfriend the other night. I just got some Aperture plug-ins and I've been goofing around with the filters. What do you think? Too much?

I'm wondering if this pic would have been better if the twenty minutes had been spent when shooting the pic - maybe to find a more compatible, less 'busy' background - than in editing...

Its a candid shot :p cant be that fussy ;)

Yay or nay?
I've been having mixed feelings about my HDR photos lately.
This is a 3 shot hand held HDR while walking my dog (he's near the bottom)

It's great to see fantastic photos from around this neck of the woods... gets me thinking of where to go and what to shoot.

This is a fabulous boardwalk and a nice golden hour photo... I'm going to have to make a trip down there this spring for a shoot.

I was thinking that the last few days would have been great to get out and capture some good lighting... glad you did! Awesome shot!

Sounds fun! The original comment was, of course, made as a compliment rather than thinking of it as a practical proposition. Shame though!

Love this!! :D

If anyone's tired of my Caribbean beach shots... let me know :p

I'll keep quiet if you'll let me carry your camera bag! ;)
