How can you live in Calgary then?! :p That's an awesome shot. What part of the city are you in?

Haha, I spend most of the winter hopping from chinook to chinook. I'm just downtown, a couple blocks away from the Ship & Anchor (mmmm, summer patio!). Whereabouts are you?

And thanks! Yours was way sharper, though. I was trying out manual focus, but I think I hit the mesh behind the ice :D.

Similar composition to a few I posted earlier this month (or maybe tail end of last month). I took this one after today's blizzard. Lots more snow sticking to everything.

Snow that hasn't melted in a couple of days is a real rare event in Atlanta. We're just not equipped to handle snow that stays around this long. It won't really start to melt until this weekend.

Burrard St. Bridge and the Vancouver Skyline

The Burrard St. Bridge and the downtown Vancouver skyline are layered in front of the snow capped North Shore Mountains December 28, 2010. I shot this photo awhile back but wanted an updated version now that there was snow on the mountains. One of my personal favs for sure.

Nikon D80 with 70-200mm 2.8 VRII.

^^^^ Beautiful! I'd like to try something like this myself. Where did you take this from? The Granville St. Bridge? I'm guessing this is about an hour after sunset or so? Settings? (Exposure looks very long). Thanks for the inspiration!

HEy!! Was this photo in a calender by Natural Colour Productions? It looks exactly the same as the one I saw at London Drugs! haha.

Here is mine for today... More Sandhill Cranes.

Nice! I'm up in Patterson/Strathcona/Coach Hill/whatever the devil the kids call it nowadays :p I love that area!

Your picture was lovely :D

Just wanted to share my 2 cents...
I'm learning to use my first reflex (Canon 60D) so the shot is not perfect, but still I'm very proud of it ;)
I was studying for exams, and was so sick of it. So I've decided to play with light: set up my "studio" in 10 mins, and after a few (wrong) shots, got this!
No PP except the watermark!

PS: little trick for candles light...blowing on them while shooting ;)

Nice shot! But there's a satellite / plane right above the mountain! My eyes just stick on it!

Nice! Brentwood is a nice place.

I live near...uh...Schooner's...LOL.

Nice, I actually used to live right around both those areas. I lived in Patterson when I first moved to Calgary, like 8 years ago, and I was up next to the University in Brentwood last year.

Here's mine for today. An admittedly pedestrian (zing!) attempt at street photography.

That's a very cool photo. That would be a fun view to use to experiment with blending multiple exposures, i.e.: properly expose the foreground, then use spot metering with a second exposure to bring up the mountains, then layer them in photoshop and blend the layers.
