If the next iphone looks anything like this, I will NOT buy it. What's the point of making a 9 pin dock connector and jamming a bunch of things around it? The speakers are asymmetrical! The 2 tone back is horrific!!!

Please let this be a fake!!

: mind blown :

Do you hear yourself? This is the problem with allowing Apple to get away with anything they want. If these designs are accurate, then they have not innovated, yet we'll stretch the term "innovation" so that we can keep calling them the most innovate tech company in the world.

So because they don't totally change the iPhone external design at least every two years they aren't innovating. Suppose you'll say the same about the iPad when it looks the same next year. Suppose you basically say that about iOS and Mac OS since the UI hasn't been radically changed in years.

That's my point. These must be fake designs, otherwise Apple would be issuing cease-and-desist letters to all of these companies regarding their leaks. They would be sending letters to Macrumors and whoever is hosting these photos.

Incorrect. If they sent a C & D, it would legitimize the photos/renders. By ignoring it as they have and always will do, it leaves us wondering.

I can't understand why these mock-ups keep getting posted as the real thing and people believe it.

I'd love to believe that this isn't the new iPhone as much as you do. But the rumors have been totally consistent and there hasn't been anything else AT ALL to hint at some other mystery device out there. We would have seen something by now I would think. So either TC has quadrupled down on secrecy and not a single component has leaked, OR this is the new iPhone. I'm leading towards the latter. I'd be willing to bet any amount of $$$ there is no totally different iPhone hiding out there. Get used to these photos. You're going to see a lot of people carrying them around come october.

I don't know why everyone is expecting it to be so radically different? I think Apple have now found a compact and good design and they will be sticking with it for a while.

Look at the Laptops. The Macbook pro has been the same since late 2008. Even the new retina macbook is the same, it's just thinner with different screen no disk drive but the design is essentially the same.

This is the same for the new iPhone, while we don't know if this is a true design or not all the rumours over the past months have pointed to a design similar to the iPhone 4 and onwards. I think everyone is just expecting some significant changes as the phone market has been evolving so much in the past decade.

Screen a bit bigger and wider please.
We're not like in the says when my computer monitor was like 9".

<SARCASM>
Oh wait there's an idea....

Lets release the next iMac with a screen size of the original mac!

Fantastic. If you want a bigger screen, go buy an ipad.
</SARCASM>

That's the analogy so many use here in these threads.

You fan-boys just don't get it. I love apple too, but I am becoming so disillusioned.

I'm simply hoping this stretched phone is the cheap model that was being rumored.

Maybe there's a flagship model in the wings. One can only hope.

Noise-cancelling microphone?

That's what I was thinking also, but why put that in between the camera and the flash?

Maybe they wanted to keep the top bezel pristine and it doesn't make sense to place it at the bottom next to the speaker/other microphone. Then, I guess in between the camera and flash might make sense as its sufficiently far away from the speaker and they are already drilling 2 holes in that area, a third's not going to make it any worse from the "perfection" perspective?

Your logic is based on the assumption that most people who use the iPhone are men but in reality women use the phone as well and most of them would not have a pocket.

To be fair. All the women I know with iPhone put theirs in a special pocket in their purses with the top down. But I never see anyone with the headphone cord going out of the purses anyway.

Look at how the backplate, the antennaband and the antenna 'spots' get all together. I like that - but it's not a big difference compared to the iPhone 4 (from 2010).

And look at how the camera lens sits awkwardly in the band and not parallel to the radius (as the iPhone 4/S does). That isn't Apple design, if it is then Steve Jobs was more involved than we thought with the detail.

Its macRUMORS that you have come to, do we need to tell you that this isnt official???
Um not everything posted on this site is a rumor. How hard would it be to say "Photos of Rumored Next-Generation iPhone Enclosure Leaked"? Using the word "completed" gives the impression it's a finished product. We don't really know what this is.

To everyone saying this looks too much lik a 4/S, I'll see you in line on launch day! :p

Well when its ios that you prefer over android we dont have much choice, yes ill buy it, yes i would like something a bit more modern than this. but no i wont be in line, pre ordering is much better idea.

I really like the current design, so this just builds on it. If its true i do like the move to metal on the back instead of glass. Less prone to shattering. i hope its thinner too.

You're right... this is no shattering new design.

I'm not expecting a radical new design. But part leaks on obscure Asian websites that then show up on BGR or wherever to me deserve to be called rumors. We never once saw part leaks of the rMBP. And Tim Cook said Apple is doubling down on security. So I have a very hard time believing Appe is intentionally leaking parts of an unfinished product. How does that benefit them?

Computer leaks never happen. Except for specs. The 3G, 3GS, 4 and 4S have all leaked prior to release.

iPods and iPhones usually leak most likely because they're small and are Apple's best selling products, so they need to be produced in bulk months before they go on sale.

Just because Tim says they're doubling down on secrecy doesn't mean there won't be leaks. They're inevitable sometimes. Maybe his plans for doubling down didn't go into effect when he released that statement.

Apple isn't intentionally leaking anything, they're manufacturers overseas are. Not everything can be controlled that easily.

I think most people would be happy if they would make a 33% thinner 4-4.3" iPhone with the same aspect ratio, based on the design of the 4 series, with no material changes. Like this:

But why would anyone want a taller phone which materials look like a giant step backward from the 4S?

I agree

I feel the same

Personally, I feel like the iPhone 4/4s is the pinnacle of product design. The aesthetic of the device is amazing–clean lines all around, beautiful finish. This design improves upon that. Hell, just the addition of LTE is going to make my day-to-day so much better.

The only thing that I feel like COULD be changed is that the phone could have a rounded back to be more comfortable in the hand, but then it wouldn't be so 'slabbily sexy'.

I love this design and would be fine with it being like this indefinitely.

J

I feel the same way, I love iPhone 4 & 4s and would be happy with a quad core processor, LTE and just update innards. I don't care if the screen is bigger or if it's going to be, make it a small increase as to not make it Kindle tablet size like all the new Gallaxy's & Samsungs. I want it to fit in my pocket instead of a back pack. When I need a bigger screen I'll use my iPad or MacBook Pro!

Call me a conservative old fart, but there are 3 thinks I really don't like about it.

1) different screen ratio
2) small dock connector
3) headphone jack on the bottom

But the overall design is very nice.

Regardless, THIS was the most beautiful iPhone concept ever. I really wish it got in production...

Yes! This is a beautiful design!

I'll be honest, the 3D renders looked a lot sexier than the "real" one. As someone else pointed out, there seems to be a gap (or uneven level) between the aluminum and glass parts of the back -- but this may be because it was assembled by iLab and not Apple's official partners. If, however, that gap exists in the real version also, the days of Apple perfection will have ended and would be time to sell my AAPL.

But I don't hate this design. The two-tone design on the back will take some time getting used to, but based on these leaked renderings, I still think the iPhone 4/4S design is much better than this. But that's just my opinion. And I'll still be buying this one.

And that small hole between the cameral lens and the flash is back. I'm intrigued as to what that could be.[/QUOT

Probably the focus assist light
