More evidence of Apple's decline. Hilarious how all the pieces point toward this.

Maybe they'll pull their act together before it's too late. Bad sales would definitely help them get their head out of "the cloud." :apple:

What pieces are these which are hilariously pointing towards the decline of Apple?

The speakers can't be symmetrical because there's only one.
One is the speaker, one is the microphone.
Just like on every other iPhone.

I guess I was referring to the bottom grills being asymmetrical. The 4/4S grills on the bottom both are the same size and I really like the mesh aluminum look they have. These alleged new iPhone speaker/mic grills are horrible. It looks like something you'd find in a child's toy. It doesn't look elegant at all. Perhaps I'm biased since I think the 4/4s models are by far the best looking iPhones released. I think theyre the best looking phones on the market period.

I see people all over the internet bitching and moaning over it. Apple has never been one to introduce drastic hardware redesigns every few years just for the sake of it, they consistently iterate and improve existing designs. If someone quickly comes up with a redesign sooner, like with the 4, they'll use it, but they're not going to get caught in the pissing contest that is Android hardware.

Apple is Porsche and Android phones are Kia.

Back then Apple had the market to themselves as Android couldn't get their head out of their a**. Now Android and Samsung are much more formidable competition. Market share and sales are showing that to be true. Apple has to step up their game.

All these people moaning that the phone is ugly and don't want it are the same ones that'll clog up Apple's pre-order site or stand in line on release day.

So I really used to like my 2006 911, but once I saw the redesigned Hyundai Genesis coupe, I thought, why put up with a boring design that isn't much different than what Porsche create decades before.

I get it that tech and cars are different, but I think this day and age of immediate gratification and rapid change is creating a whole group of people with what I consider questionable taste, if I can consider them to have taste at all. Maybe taste isn't the right word, but appreciation for the better things in life.

I'm assuming the comparison was sarcastic...

If so, I agree, and I think your comparison is right on the money. Sure, the Hyundai Genesis is a downright great looking car, no debate there. But the 911 is a Porsche. The two vehicles aren't even remotely similar. One oozes class and quality. The other is a Hyundai. One has a reputation for reliability and top notch support. The other is a Hyundai.

Perhaps the example is extreme, but the principle is the same.

I think it looks pretty darn good. Very very close resemblance to the 4/4S, but at the same time, I think the design of the 4 is amazing: simple, complete and aesthetically flawless. The bottom would take getting used to with the different port and speaker cutout design, but if this truly is the iPhone, I think it looks great.

With that said, I don't think that I will be upgrading, as my 4S contract isn't up until November 2013, but I cant wait to see what the 5 will be.

Making the grills the same size when the components behind them are similarly sized makes sense.
I'm therefore hoping that we're getting a much bigger, better speaker.
:D

Probably b.s. leaks

These are probably just leaks to throw us off from the final golden product they release. Secrecy is a big deal and they're "doubling down" according to Tim Cook, so how could we have this same shell leaked way before launch. I still think the final version will be something different looking. The metal backing looks out of place and even worse/discolored on the white iPhone. I don't think they would change it just for the sake of calling it a new redesign. It must be functional. Ohh maybe they will put the gorgeous glowing apple logo that shines through the case and figure out a way for it not to kill our batteries :)

At first when it was just an early rumor that this phone would look like this, the blind followers said:
It's hideous, A longer phone? Ewww, no thanks!, There's no way Apple would design something this ugly, It's Fake!, it's just a rumor so let's just hope and wait.

Now that the rumors seem to be very possible true, the folllowers as expected have changed their tune:
Beautiful, it's growing on me! Can't wait for my extra row of icons! This makes total sense! Sexxxxxy!!!

In regards to the die hards, your opinion doesn't matter. You know this, I know this, we all know this. It doesn't matter how the next iphone looks like. You will buy ANYTHING Apple puts out. The design of the next iphone is only important to customers who are willing to buy Anything out there regardless of OS/manufacturer. For the customer that wants a new phone that looks like a new phone, thy will leave.
Personally, I think all these leaks are fake. The phone looks way to similar to the 4S, and it's just plain FUGLY!!! I honestly want Apple to put out a kickass design, because I don't want the Android big dogs to become comfortable and stop innovating and leading the smartphone industry as they currently are.

This looks good. If Steve Jobs were introducing it, it would be great. When apple announces it later this year it will be very good.

Is that anodized aluminum colored blue? Is it possible Apple will offer the iPhone 5 in colors? That would be quite a few SKUs.

No, I still think it's stupid that they just elongated the 4S.

I know I shouldn't be, but I'm always surprised by comments like"Geez, this design is so plain... I was expecting a more radical design..."

So, a cube? Or an orb? Maybe triangular? :D

I think we're kinda stuck with a rectangle. The only things that can change are dimensions and materials. And even then, the range of change is still limited.

I think there is a happy medium between the current design and an orb or cube. This leak is not a design change. They just slapped a two tone paint job on the old iphone and called it new. Is everyone forgetting the jump from iPhone to iPhone 3G? Or from iPhone 3G to iPhone 4 (radical redesign)?

I am HOPING Tim was correct when he said Apple was doubling down on security... but I am thinking what we are now seeing was what was SUPPOSED to be the iPhone 4S - but was pulled back due to reported hardware issues. So Apple scrambled and put out what we know as the iPhone 4S which was basically a 4 with Siri and a better camera/chip. Easy update for them.

The product timeline has been pushed back now and what we were hoping to see as a completely redesigned iPhone 5 probably won't come out until next year.

No, I still think it's stupid that they just elongated the 4S.

First, there is nothing wrong with the 4S design; it is the most popular iPhone ever sold. Second, the larger screen will overwhelmingly be welcomed. Third, you are finding fault before discovering what's within the extra 1/2".

If you didn't go to Android when the iPhone 4S looked exactly like the iPhone 4.... why would you go when the next iPhone will actually be different?

I wish it'd only been two years at this design. June 24, 2010 and we are potentially looking at October 2013 before the band is revised!
