Photos of Complete Next-Generation iPhone Enclosure Leaked

If this is honestly the new design, which I highly doubt, it's seems obvious Apple have sacked Jony and not told us. This is NOT one of Jony's designs. He does NOT have so many asymmetrical details.
I'm guessing Apple have finally worked out a strategy of re-directing the public rumor mill. Apple have spoken on several occasions on how they wished they could keep their products much more under wraps as they head towards production, noting it is very hard when you have another company assembling for you, especially when that company has close to 1/2 a million employees.

But hey it could be. Remember how disappointed people were when iPhone 4s was announced, everyone was hoping for a new form factor. That was a pretty good indications of their customers desires.

I just find it hilarious that Apple is unwilling to make their phone a little wider. 4.3" would make the new iphone an S3 killer.
 
Besides the expected.....
  • 4G;
  • slightly longer, but not wider, display (which those of us who text one-handed will appreciate);
  • slightly better camera;
  • hotspot;
  • and possible quad-core A6...

...does anyone have any other ideas what may get baked into it? While I appreciate its (now) iconic design, aesthetically at least, the changes are not so dramatic as to make me want to trade in my 4S.


Ok. Who am I kidding. I'll probably buy it. :rolleyes:

Please be joking with a controlled leak. This nonsense is offensive to all of humanity that embarrasses technology and want to move in to the future with it. This tiny stupid screen is holding back the wishes of the people.

Watch us run. Don't believe that people will just buy anything you barf up just because you are Apple. Some will, but we all know that all you care about is money and you will LOOSE market share with this repeat of the past 2 phones. And less market share is less money

Mark our words "THIS PHONE IS A FAILURE" and it will represent a huge shift to the competition

People have been saying that since the iPhone 3G. Yet Apple still raked in billions last quarter.

Too many "Experts" in this thread and many have no idea what they're talking about. I'm seriously glad none of you run or even work for Apple.

I reckon the 4S was a last minute thing as this phone was not ready for launch hence the later launch date.

And I disagree because we seen leaks of the 4, new iPad and they were all right.
The only people who dont believe this are people who still have a faint hope of a major redesign.

I reckon this will launch and there will be no iPad minis. iPod touch might move to a 4" with a small dock connector too.

It's still unclear to me why the most important thing to some people is how it looks. What specific design would be better? I ask because I am truly interested in what people think would improve this design.
 
Personally, I don't mind it.

What I would appreciate is a new Mac Pro and a dedicated display line-up that is more than a stripped down 27" iMac LED LCD with cables too short to reach my Mac Pro.

C'mon Apple, desktops aren't dead and iOS isn't the future. I can't edit/render HD movies and work on an i7 iMac or MacBook Pro, no matter how well equipped (and forget iPad's, those are for consuming, hardly for producing unless you want to type on a tiny screen in an app with less features than "Text Edit").

"Embarrasses technology"? "Embraces" perhaps? Loving the "royal we" as well: personally I'm not convinced you're speaking for the majority, although you're clearly convinced otherwise. Apple clearly have a winning formula at present, and while of course they and their customers will want that formula to evolve, I don't understand why you feel they would be likely to, or indeed should, stray radically from a design that has done them proud.

bigger screen...longer and wider. 4.3" would have been nice. Would allow space for a bigger battery as well.

Are you kidding or do you not read the comments?

People want a bigger screen ...WIDER , not just Tall.

Tall does nothing for anyone.

We want iOS on the Galaxy S3

We want a dedicated button for SIRI

We want Super Amoled.

This is more of the same. And we can already get it. Its a HUGE Bummer

Seems very lazy of Apple, it almost feels like that in order for them to be able to continue talking up their "Retina" claims they make the phone longer and keep the same DPI rather than taking a small drop in DPI and making a proportionally bigger and more functional screen.

I've been a huge fan of the iPhone since the 3G and it feels surreal that I'm considering just upgrading to a 4S or even moving to an Android phone. That's how much I dislike this design.

My guess is that they prefer to keep the horizontal resolution the same, for app compatibility. But the vertical one would break the compatibility anyways, unless the apps run in a 'window', still only 960 pixels. Would look strange.

Would be better if Apple sticked to a more standard resolution like 1280x720. But they went another path, and now they are stuck with it.
 
Nothing about this design sez "have sex with me" So, I'll wait for the next one. They've gotten my money for every iPhone model but I'm not that crazy about this one. It reminds me of an LG G2X that I own and I hate that phone, tall skinny screen nonsense. I'll sit this one out...
 
A lot of Apples innovations have lead to smaller and more powerful devices. Why would we expect a new significantly larger device?! Apple would be following and copying instead of leading. If you want to carry a rediculously large phone in your pocket, buy an android device and move along. The large android phones look rediculous. Looks like your using an iPad to make a call!! LMAO!!

I'll have to agree.

This will be the third iphone in a row to share this main design ... something that gets really old fast in the mobile phone space. Samsung, with their insultive commercials about iPhone crowds, lineups, and AppleGeeks did one thing right ... "How will anyone know I got a new iPhone?!?". As funny as that sounds, you'd be amazed just how much that'll influence consumers.

Now with the Olympics and Samsung pushing their products on the worldwide view (also on TV's that they make with WiFi and internet access) .... many Apple users will consider the need for ATV and a slight bump in iOS SW along with equal slight bump in hardware.

1. iOS seem to only show us a few features, I still think that there is a LOT more we don't know until Apple iPhone 5 is released!!

2. I'm PRAYING this is the new iPod Touch, not the iPhone. Will I upgrade? Sure ... if ONLY for 2 things: Larger 4" minimum screen & LTE support (for HotSpot use).

So looks ARE important ? Not function now ? Hmmm , these arguments against a larger screen are more and more disturbing. Almost as if some people are defending Apple for the sake of worship or something along those lines.

Let me ask you, Have you ever used the Galaxy S3 ?

You may have an opinion without experience, evidence or facts. In the world of tech that kind of excuses your opinion as crazy talk.

Look , /....Apple is fine and all ,...... but do you really WANT this to be the new iPhone ???? Will you buy it cus you want it so bad ???

Copied and saved so when the iPhone 5 is the largest selling iPhone in history I can bring it back and make you eat it. Will be total bliss! Also to call it a repeat of the last 2 phones is stupid as this looks nothing like a 4/4s. Hope you enjoy eating crow.

I have yet to see anyone texting one handed on that five inch monstrosity from Samsung. Then again I can count the number of times I have seen that ridiculous looking phone in public on one hand.

It looks good enough but I'm more concerned about the insides, especially battery life.
