Sorry to bore others with insanely stupid conversation but I have to say it.
You are clearly out to argue.

When objective people like me want to contribute to the conversation with an opinion (Clearly shared by MANY others on the forum [hence the "WE" ] we are lambasted by Apple fanatics who clearly want to get into a fight.

I don't want that. More often than not when someone like me tries to speak an honest thought about technology we are ridiculed, harassed, insulted and dismissed.

It seems that if you have ANY issue with a topic on MacRumors and someone disagrees IN FAVOR of Apple .......they call you a Troll.

I'm not here to pick a fight or be sent to the principle's office.

You don't like my opinion FINE , that's why we are here. Don't insult me, don't send me warnings and lets have a frank discussion.

I speak also to the MODS , don't turn this into a big kumbuyaa Apple fan Club where opposition to Apple is a bannable offence. Clearly this is not fair

Except that what you contributed wasn't objective.
It wasn't informed (any moreso than anyone else), it wasn't clever, and it wasn't relevant.
What you contributed was a dire warning (threat?) to Apple as if you had some great insight into market conditions and consumer wants and needs.
Guess what? You don't.
You could be speaking for literally thousands of users on this board and that's still a drop in the bucket as far as Apple's concerned.
Besides.... the next iPhone is already built.
Even if it isn't the design depicted here, the design is finalized somewhere.
It's not like Apple is going to read your dire warning and suddenly decide to redesign the phone.
You like the design, you don't like the design.
That's as much input from you that anyone on here wants to read.
You might even care to share why.
But spouting dire warnings like you alone hold the keys to Apple's kingdom is just obnoxious and you should probably expect to get called on it.

Phones have radios. Radio waves do not travel through metal. Hence the glass strips on the back. Remember, Wifi, GPS, Bluetooth, etc. as well as cellular radios.

Where have you been the last two years? Antenna. Band. Outside the phone.

Somethings not right

Looking at both images the first image volume down button is horizontal and second image volume button down button is vertical HMMMM!!!

I like the unibody design but i reckon something smells fishy....

Isnt that what the whole band antenna thing is for? I could be wrong but I thought the band covered gps, bluetooth, wifi, and cellular so the back plate should not matter as far as blocking reception for those components. Maybe NFC is separate and can't pass through the metal so the new back could accommodate for that...?

EDIT: Buckeyestar beat me to it.

I really sincerely hope this isn't it. And I don't mean it in the same way that was said when the iPhone 4 design first leaked. That was beautiful.

This? Who the heck wants a taller phone? I want a bigger screen, but I don't want JUST a taller screen.

Such an odd design, why does it need the giant bezels still? Why even bother making glass sections on the back that small? Terrible.

I am ok with the outside design, but, if the screen is really tall and not wide (i.e. change in aspect ratio), then I am seriously considering switching to T-Mobile with S3. I have had all iPhones since 3G!

Yes but if it was all metal on the back when you held the phone you agree create antenna gate. Putting glass strips on the top and bottom stop that.

It "diffuses " the attenuation.

This is just a stupid comparison. The reason we're not walking around with a 'brick' is because the internals (battery, etc.) changed to allow smaller designs. They didn't change the design because they suddenly thought the brick was ugly, they changed the design because they had too.

The porsche 911 is beautiful, and nothing has changed that would need another design.

Even the fact that you would compare the motorola brick to an iphone's design is moronic. There is NO reason for Apple to change the design, except that it gets smaller. The 911 comparison is a very valid one. If porsche changed it, it would be simply for 'change'. But they know that would be stupid, and so would Apple's decision to change their design, unless there was a reason to do so.

There *is* a reason for apple to change it's design, and that's for readability, and functionality. Back in 2007, phones were mainly used for txting. These days much more of what we do could be done on the phone. Even more so if you didn't need to carry a microscope around to read teeny weeny text on a screen that only has 5 words across. It's pathetic and unusable.

You and some others may feel that there's no need for change. That's cool. Just hang on to your 4S, 4 3GS or whatever blows your skirt up.

The rest of us, and if you read back on the 650+ comments on here (on this thread alone) a vast majority want a bigger screen, and they want something different. Some of us have been holding back waiting already since ip 4 , and if this leak turns out to be true, it will be another kick in the arse, and people will probably jump ship because they are tired of waiting - and who could blame them?

If you and some others like the current format, stick to what you got already. There's no point to bring out another phone that's essentially the same thing - apart from being able to see another row of apps.

But then again, maybe that's what you're jonesin' for... another row of apps. Now i understand.

I love the 2 step you're doing now. Face it, you got called out and now you're trying to back track. Im done talking with you as you don't have the integrity to actually stand up to what you said. I showed you exactly why I called you arrogant, it's there in black and white, yet you then try and make qualifying statements. Think before you type, re-read what you write and if the point you made isn't the one you were trying to convey re-write it. It's not my fault you couldn't properly articulate what you were trying to say the first several times you posted. Good luck with whichever phone you move on to. I have had many different devices over the last few years and enjoyed them all for different reasons, I however would not choose to speak for others regarding those devices, I voice my opinions as mine alone and let others decide. Have a great night!
Had more to say but Gjwilly pretty much summed it up perfectly so I'll let him/her add that part to our conversation.

I agree. I want to buy something different damnit!

I have never owned an iPhone. I was hoping iPhone 5 would be my first iPhone, as I've never really been a fan of 4 or 4S.

I really don't like this design. It looks worse than the 4/4S. It has a communist look to it - very square, angular, utilitarian and boring. I might stick with my free texting phone from Sprint for another year, if this is truly the new iPhone.

I don't like these designs at all. However, I believe these designs are fake so....

A what? Communist? huh? WTF?!

It's time for Apple to expand their mobile products. I believe Apple should release an iPhone nano, a standard iPhone, and an iPhone Pro.

If you read through these comments, you'll see there are varying opinions on size. Each person uses their phone for different functions, so there is no such thing as a "perfect" size. I see the benefits of keeping a 3.5" screen, but I also see the benefits of a 4.8" Galaxy S3. For example, both my mom and sister prefer smaller handsets, even if a smaller screen is the tradeoff. They have smaller hands, and don't want a massive phone. An iPhone nano would be perfect for them.

I could go on and on about this, but I believe, at some point, Apple will expand the iPhone product line to accommodate different styles of use. One size certainly does not fit all. :apple:

Wow, that is ugly.

Hey Apple, why not just stretch the current iPhone design out vertically, move the headphone jack to the bottom and make the back cheaper to produce and harder to break? It'll make the iPhone fugly as hell, but hey, it'll reduce your warranty repair costs AND allow you to recycle a three year old design, reducing your R&D costs, too.

Pfffft. So much for innovation at Apple. RIP Steve Jobs.

What a short-sighted, immature attitude. Just what specifically are you expecting? All signs point to 4G/LTE networking, more RAM and NFC. On the outside, they've apparently made it more durable, enlarged the display, added a better camera, relocated the headphone jack and FaceTime cameras to more convenient locations, and made a smaller dock connector. It's still a classy, futuristic design and it will ship with a new OS. I guess they should radically change the design each time for the sake of novelty? A revolutionarily different volume button? A complete redesign of the home button and sides would really make it cooler?

Since you're such a fan of Jobs, here's one of his quotes: "It's not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works."

But here's the thing... don't be discouraged...

As a newcomer to iphone, you will love it. All these rants you see (including mine) are because we wanted something different to what have been around for a while in the sense of screen format.

The release iphone 5 will no doubt be typical of apple's legendary quality... so it is something for you to be looking forward to.

Even though I panned the 4S, I suggested a friend look at the 4S (first time apple user), and he loves it. It may be the same for you.
