Yeah actually that looks a lot like the existing iPod Touch, just that the aluminium back is non-glossy. I have a feeling the next iPod Touch might look very similar to that image.
 
This is a proof that Apple is too proud of the design of iPhone 4. They just stretched iPhone 4 and make it the next-generation iPhone...

Such an odd design, why does it need the giant bezels still? Why even bother making glass sections on the back that small? Terrible.

I agree with this completely, but my biggest gripe is over the screen. I can live with the 'odd design' but I would prefer they keep the same sized screen rather than just make it taller.

I wanted a bigger screen, but height was never why. It has always been about the width for me. Sadly I'll probably buy it solely because only Apple has iOS and my iP4 is starting to run a little slow.
 
I am the most avid lover of apple and I'm sure most of you think the same to yourself, but it's OKAY to admit that these leaked photos look awful because apple is better than this and you know they won't sell a product that looks that bad compared to what expectations individuals have of the new iPhone. (yes run on sentence i know).

this could go down as the hugest rumor in apple history.

anyone agree to agree?

By the time this is released, there will have been over 20 million world wide sales of the Galaxy S3. The road map for this fall and holiday season from Motorola, HTC and Nokia (Windows) has a few nice phones coming up. There are also rumors of the next Google Nexus phone as well.

iOS6 may be nice, but Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is no slouch either.

So you think the Macbook Air, Macbook Pro, iPad, and iMac are ugly? That's what that design is based on. I think you're nuts. There's nothing wrong with admitting Apple screws up.

I wouldn't be surprised if Apple found a way not to include that stuff on the back. I hate it, like everyone else. There has to be a point where devices are becoming so thin and small there's no point to such information. It's this, or either someone has access to those aluminum tooling machines and just made something to stir up the speculations. The timing is just right.

The problem with computer models is that the designer of them has no idea how the stuff fits inside. It's not yet possible to have device that thin and all metal. There hasn't been new battery technology lately, no 12mp camera that is that thin, etc. It's just not there yet.
 
look at everything that shouts these leaks to be a rumor:

tim cooks crack down on privacy of products announcement

the changing of the dock connector (however could be a possibility)

why change the headphone jack now to the bottom, why not earlier

new aspect ratio.. wth?

why not expand the width as well as height, looks cooler i think everyone agrees

two toned back.. i don't get it

after 3 years or they should be do for a whole redesign, its been too long

lastly, these leaks just look bad, plain and simple.

If Apple only cared about such things we would have 10 versions of an iPhone with every possible screen, color and shape. It's not in their philosophy and I'm glad.

We all hope you're right.

Yeah, Tim Cook said they're cracking down on privacy but he's yet to prove us wrong. On the other hand, if this is a rumor and not the real iPhone, then he comes out looking like the greatest genius of all. But if it's not, he looks like the biggest loser in Apple history: for coming up with a crappy iPhone and for lying about cracking down. And I can tell you, it's not looking good for him (or us).

It's all or nothing for Tim. There's no in between this time.

That's great if you're a scorecard junkie.

But a new iPhone... with a bigger screen... likely LTE and who knows what else...

Yeah... Apple will have no trouble selling these.

And let's take a guess on how many new phones will have Jelly Bean by October.

that rendering is too thin for a headphone jack and would have horrid battery life.

Have you even seen what's inside an iPhone. There's some engineering that goes it, and sometimes things have to move to fit other things. Perhaps NFC. Fact, iPod Touch always had headphone jack on the bottom, no one complained.

yes, Retina screen is very important for apple, by moving things up developers don't have to re-skin their apps, everyone wins.

Again, Retina screen resolution would change, making all developers adapt again.

If you were a tech engineer you would. But radio frequencies don't travel through metal that well, so there has to be some transparent material like plastic, or glass. After all it's still a Phone.

Hmm, not so fast. Iconic design sticks forever. Apple designs for the ages, not one year. Take a look at Apple's products, not many change drastically through the years. New materials, dimentions, tech, but overall design stays true to Apple's iconic shapes.

lastly, these leaks just look bad, plain and simple.

I don't see what's wrong with the old dock connector. Who cares if it's 8 years old? The new one isn't really any better, just smaller. Who cares if it's smaller? I can't think of a single instance where that would be useful. All it means is that I would need an adapter if I were to buy the iPhone 5, which I don't plan to do.

Also, the engineering explanation for the two-toned back sounds like a bad excuse. How come no other iPhones or any other smartphones have a two-toned back? I don't think it looks bad.
 
all i know is if thats what it looks like then i'm selling my shares i bought in 2003. and if i sell mine, i bet others will too.

however, i'm so confident it won't look like these leaks that ill go ahead and buy call options tomorrow bc apple seizes to amaze me in their designs.

You could make an SD card fit in like a SIM card. I'm sure Apple just wants to make people pay more for the extra space. Would the performance be as good as built-in flash memory?

I'd be proud of the iPhone 4 design. Why change something drastically if it already looks good?

Because no other smartphone has an external antenna frame.
Besides, the first iPhone had a two-toned back as did the first, second, and third iPad.
