Photos of 'iPhone SE' Screen Display Confirm No 3D Touch

In my perfect Apple world, Apple would just offer the iPhone 6S in three sizes. They have become so erratic with names and product design in recent years that it actually annoys me.

What do you think about seeing an iPhone Pro this year?

For me the best use of 3D touch is to move cursor anywhere by pressing on the keyboard. I would´t want to lose this. The rest is just a bonus.

Well, the writing is on the wall. The 5SE or whatever it is called, will not have 3D Touch.

Modern? If it has a 720p + display, A9 processor, 2GB of RAM, 12 MP camera, Apple Pay, then I would say it's barely passable. But 640p in this day and age is a ripoff.

I meant more modern than the 4S, 5 and 5S that many people still have.

There is no guarantee for 2GB of RAM though. You have to wait for the teardown after the announcement.

I didn't say it was a guarantee, just that in my opinion 3D touch is less important than 2GB of ram for longevity and really use from the start given how poorly devices with 1GB of ram handle multitasking and multiple tabs.

Well, a 6 is more modern than all those three, yet I found the 6 to be DOA for me. I only got the 6+ and then the 6S+ because of the specs. I cannot see myself going for a phone like the 6/6S due to the lack of specs. If I am paying that much, you better put OIS, FHD panel, a nice sized battery, etc.

Then you might want an iPhone 6S Plus. It's the only iPhone that has a FHD screen, OIS, and good sized battery.

No I don't, as I want an updated iPhone 5 as the 6S and 6S+ are too big. The screen on my 5 is already great and I'm happy enough with the camera, so any improvements would be nice.

I am just explaining that you have to wait. You can be optimistic, but you'll be waiting until the teardown. Apple never discusses RAM during pressers.

Are you reading what I wrote? I want this new phone to share the processor and ram with the 6S, as it doesn't make sense for it to share the intervals with the 7 as it has not been introduced yet. The 6S is the most modern iPhone, so sharing the processor/gpu/ram with the 6S would make it speed wise up to date.

Omg, do you think I know nothing about Apple? I know they never discuss ram at keynotes, I understand that, all I said was that in my opinion, the inclusion of 2gb of ram in the 5SE would be more important than 3D touch.

Makes sense to wait for a iPhone 7 4" model if they make one this year. Makes it tougher to suggest buying a phone to use only for about 5-6 months and then having to flip it again. I would've waited till September if I were Apple. People have waited long enough, so 6-7 months isn't too bad of a wait.

I doubt they will be making one this year. I'd assume that the 4 inch model (if they continue making one) will be on a different upgrade cycle.

I'll be updating to this thing probably next year, as there is nothing wrong with my 5, I just want an upgrade path with a 4 inch screen, and the 5S is too outdated for that.

But mixing up generations could be awkward to say the least. If they do make a 4" device, although I loathe the idea, it would best served on a three model cyclical system. That way there could actually be 3D touch for the folks that want it.

Its like what they seem to be doing with the Mini. The tech goes to the iPad Air, then makes its way to the Mini eventually.

Of course I'd love a 3 tier iPhone launch, but I've given up hope on that and would be happy with anything that will perform like a 6S at this point.

No 3D touch on a "new" apple device which will probably have a "new apple device" premium price is just ridiculous.
Newness doesn't matter. Every technology comes at a cost other than money. 3D Touch requires a special vibrator called Taptic Engine, which is quicker and much bigger. That's why the iPhone 6s actually has a smaller battery than the iPhone 6. While the iPhone SE will have a bigger battery than the iPhone 5s.

iPhone 6 ( 1810 mAh )
iPhone 6s ( 1715 mAh ) with 3D Touch

iPhone 5s ( 1570 mAh )
iPhone SE ( 1642 mAh ) without 3D Touch

You can't have everything, something has to give. Apple's job is to find the best compromise.

Yeah, that iPad Mini and iPad Air discrepancy is quite disappointing. But then again, iPads are fine because you don't update tablets on a yearly basis or as often as a phone. Phones are probably more likely to be updated by the avg consumer. I just couldn't sit well with the idea that the iPad Mini 3 was just an iPad Mini 2 clone w/ Touch ID and a slimmer profile for the most part.

Well, don't forget people keep on asking for slimmer phones. I find it redundant. I applaud Samsung for adding like a mm to their S7 and improving not only the battery size, but brining in water resistance and putting a SD slot in without compromising the profile. Samsung has made significant strides. I hope Apple can follow suit because I rather have a 3000 mAh battery w/ the iPhone 7 Plus if it means adding a slight bit to do so. Compartmentalization within reason. Not slim down to infinitely small proportions. There wouldn't be a need to slim down batteries more to accommodate newer tech if people weren't so focused on slimming down their devices.

Maybe what I am getting tired of is the apple tax. At least there used to be a magical wow factor that came with the "premium price" regardless of similar features being offered on other platforms. You might call it entertainment value lol. Just isn't there anymore.

Be careful with the phrase "Apple Tax." Folks will be mad that you're saying that Apple's devices are losing their luster and are hardly worth the price points anymore. With a rise in midrangers, Apple's foothold in developing countries could slip.
