Yes! So 10A432 is Golden Master after all. So forum members seemed to be doubting it but hopefully it really is. :)

If this is GM, then I will stick with 10.5 ! I have downloaded the above and updated my system with it, and I can tell you that it is full of bugs, very obvious bugs. But the speed increase is great !

I reckon this is not GM because most OS that Apple ships are stable. This is not, especially if there main feature IS stability.

Why, oh why did they choose an albino snow leopard?
I thought that was meant for 10.7.
Anyway, it'll scare the children. At least it scares me.

Actually, you can see some blood around the mouth.
Sort of aggressive for a company that's in bed with Disney.

The blood belongs to the guy at Microsoft in Retail Ops who came up with the name "Guru Bar."

What bugs? I've been using 10.6 for some time now, and haven't noticed any "very obvious bugs."

Ok, can you put some of these obvious bugs on the table and describe them to us?

Looks legit!

Why I think it's not legit: back of box (2nd picture) spacing between columns is inconsistent and lacks symmetry. Huge faux pas from a dtp/design perspective, especially from the aesthetes at Apple. High-school newspaper columns are better aligned. Spacing between 1st and 2nd column could be say 1 cm but between 2nd and 3rd columns half of that. Possibly could be due to a local language incorporation, but again, something that appears so jarring and obvious to the eye in such a blurry photo will look even more so in final packaging.

ha, if the people at the Genius bar knew so much, then why the need to

  1. wait half a day to get a appointment for a small problem with the key\
  2. why the need to send an item in when it can easy be fixed in under 30 seconds.
Yeah true story. I came in around 10:30 and I had to wait till 3:30 to get in. My key poped off. I told her I'll just go to the mac store over in beaverton and she got all snotty saying "they might not be certified" and I came back and said, ummm think again. and I've explain to not second guess paying customers, as they may know more then you think. I left, headed over there and it took them like what? 5 seconds to pop the damn thing in place. No charge, nothing. got out of there in under 2 minutes. Went to Chipotle for lunch

so take that you so called "genius bar"

I like the Aurora Box more. But, Why does Apple display a different box on their site? I like that one. And Why is the default wallpaper Aurora-like?

thats because that image is from leopard.

right click any image showing the box on apple's website click view image and read the URL. Notice it says leopard, not snow leopard

who cares what's on the site. They can change that at anytime they want.

Amazon's website now took off the image they had before which is the one that Apple still has on their site. Interesting.

I personally like the packaging.

What I'm more interested in is what the intro to Snow Leopard will be like!

I'm not disagreeing, I just quit my job at Apple Retail a few weeks ago. Trust me, one in a dozen are as smart as their job title leads you to believe. Most of them are people who pass tests with very little prior knowledge. They ONLY have good APPLE products knowledge, not particularly useful anywhere else.

It's like school, you can be great at SATs but does that really mean that you're significantly less likely to suck at life? I don't think so. It just means you're good at taking the SAT.

wtf does chipotle have to do with anything?

If the packaging is legit (and 10a432 is GM), intro video will be same as Leopard.

I really doubt they are moving away from the "X" theme, the packaging is most likely to be fake and 10a432 is not GM build.

how about you take a chill pill there bro.

  1. the "site" is brought up to bring note that the packaging on the site is not snow leopard, but rather leopard, thus making this image a possisble "yes"
  2. and that will tie in to #1 (the amazon thing)
  3. the same perhaps. Don't know why someone will get worked up over a silly intro let alone packaging.

SixCats.jpg

Is it me or is there a meaning to the cats on the picture??

Starting at the orange/brown one at the left, and we continue clockwise:

-the first one is puma
-the second one, the tiny cat, is cheetah: a tinier, more streamlined version od puma (it's the same cat as the first, just smaller)
-the third one is jaguar: this is the only cat in the picture I can't match to OSX :p
-the fourth one is Panther: a black cat.
-the fifth one is Tiger: you can see the stripes on both pictures :p
-the sixth one is Leopard: add a bit of imagination, and you see the dots on the cat :p
the seventh one is snow leopard: again, a smaller cat for a streamlined version.

IT'S A CONSPIRACY!!!!

Love the look. It's a refreshing departure from the "X" theme.

A photo of one of nature's most beautiful creatures in a minimalist setting. Nicely done. Less is more.

I agree - it's simple and elegant. It's a compelling picture. Very "Apple"!

To show I had extra time to grab a bite to eat instead of waiting for hours at the mall.

While we're on the topic of off-topic, I think that La Salsa would have been a wiser and healthier choice, there didn't happen to be a La Salsa around did there?

I like the packaging. Nice photo of a nice animal. Beats the faux "FUTURISSSTIIICC" motif of Leopard's packaging in some ways, a lot less pretentious and a bit less cheesy.

Though i did love the Leopard packaging in all its shiny glory.

Maybe if the snow leopard had been embossed with holographic eyes and the box roared when you turn it upside down they'd outdo Leopard's box. ;)

i would love to hear the reasoning behind "complete box art must mean that it's already being mass manufactured!"

companies make packaging prototypes all the time
