You can't please everyone. I find it funny how people have already made their decision this year.

"It looks the same on the outside so it's exactly the same as last year's phone."

So funny. Once you hold on in your hand, see the pictures on Apple's website OR see all the new features it has, you'll want one.

For people on the iPhone 6 or below, this is a major change. For those with a 6s, maybe not so much, but trust me, it'll fly off the shelves.

This is the first time in memory that I am seriously tempted to hold onto a soon to be 2 year old phone, my 6+. If there's an AW2 I think I'm much more likely to upgrade to it rather than to the 7, especially when so many early rumors point to the 10th anniversary phone being the real game changer.

I can't be the only one who is more interested in the next iPhone SE sized phone instead of these big monsters.

Personally I would be more excited about a new 3gs stye/sized phone. The 3GS was the best iphone ever with its curved back etc.

Heck, you know what would be really innovative?
1) An iPhone FLIP phone. Flip phones that easily fit into the pocket, were still better than big huge flat panels that break and crack.
2) A phone that is already RUGGED without having to put a freaking otterbox on it. Make the phone itself as rugged as an otterbox and then you eliminate a whole layer of case and it will be just as protected and thinner. Seriously, a significant portion of us who use a case never actually see the smooth fancy case of their phone except the day they buy it, and the day they sell it.

I'm not banking on dual/stereo speakers. Prior to the relocation of the headphone jack to the bottom of the phone, there was a symmetrical grill design on the bottom of the phone. It was often mistaken for stereo speakers, leading to a slew of "no sound coming from the left speaker" complaints and threads. It may just be cosmetic, as it was in prior designs.

Except it wasn't just cosmetic. It was the microphone.

everyone is still going to buy. on the math alone if you are on one of the new AT&T family plans and pay full price for your phone (no upgrades), it is cheaper to buy a new one and resell every year than every two by $50.

The Apple shine is wearing off. People just don't care like they used to. It's stale and boring. The company is predictable.
"The company is predictable."

Let me guess, they're doomed? People like you make me laff. If it's not for you, don't but it, simple. As I've said already, we all know next year's phone will be extraordinary.

You watch, it'll sell out and break records from all previous years.

what nonsense. Touch ID can't be seen in a case design, but its super useful. duo tone flash can't be seen in a case design, now everyone copies it. 3D touch is innovative and i use it daily, also can't be seen. etc etc...

haters need to get over their child-like obsession with having a phone case that looks different so you can show off to your classmates. its as absurd as expecting your DVD player to look different every year. nuts!

Because a phone has the same user case as a home appliance, obviously. *facepalm*

Nope. I still Apple is holding out and is going to surprise us all in September. These are just controlled leaks.

Everyone acts like real innovation must take only 2 years. Apple doesn't throw at the wall to see which features stick. Maybe the technology for a truly great design isn't ready yet. As if this phone will be garbage because it resembles the 6. Sheesh.

why is apple falling so behind with features? They aren't simply keeping up with the innovation, what is taking them so long to put the features in iphone 7 while others have already done it? I can name a few:
- water proof
- OLED
- wireless charging
- more ram (less restarting the app)
- bigger battery

How do you get that number? I have to switch to the next plan and probably going to do next 12 and pay it off and sell it in a year instead of turning it in.

Just as all the rumours have been indicating for months, nothing new here... It's a shame Apple haven't at least tried to do anything at all to the front, I know it's limited by functionality but it's very same old same old. The overall design language is stale now.

I don't mind a consistent design language. One only needs to see how infrequent Apple redesigns their computers, to guess part of their process. Create a design that can stand the test of time. My problem is that the iPhone 6 was ugly to begin with.

This is so annoying, because it's basically going to be a 6S.5.

I've had my iPhone 6 for 2 years, so I have to upgrade, the battery life is nowhere near what it used to be (and as it's an iPhone battery, it didn't used to be magnificent anyway). And yet this... thing is my only choice.

This, or I step out of the ecosystem and get a Galaxy Note 7, which looks so much better.

I didn't realize that had been a problem, but makes sense. Imagine the complaints when a person watches a movie in landscape mode (is there any other way?), and the left and right audio both come out of the left side of the phone? A rocket flies of fun O the right side of the screen, and all the sound comes from the left side? Get ready for a new thread!

There were also some CAD renderings of the inside of the case showing those left indents not going all the way through -- so purely decorative. On the other hand, Aple might have some other purpose for them.

If there is a second speaker, it might go into stereo mode when the phone is held in portrait mode, and mono in landscape (or doing mono phone calls for added volume, etc.). But it would be ridiculous to get rid of the headphone jack for this purpose.

I'm hoping that it's some kind of inductive charging port, or other signal pass through.

Coming from someone who has owned 7 different macs, 6 different iPhones, 2 iPads and is a huge apple fan, This new iPhone does not get me excited at all. I know many of you seem to support the removal of the headphone jack, and reference the other apple risks that were right, but this is different. I don't need a thinner phone. That hasn't been an issue for me and I am sure most consumers since the iPhone 5. Because phones are used for so much right now, my biggest issue is battery life. I am constantly using my iPhone 6 with a mobile battery or lightning cable hanging from it WHILE using my beats or apple headset plugged in at the same time for work.

So why would I or any consumer who likes the option of a regular wired headset (which has also saved my phone from crashing to the grown at full speed MANY times while plugged in) want a thinner phone with the same battery life and now forced to use a dongle? Or now I have to switch to bluetooth in order to charge my phone at the same time while I listen to music. It is very anti consumer in more ways than any decision apple has made in the past. When apple got rid of the CD drive they didn't make an external super drive have to hook up to their mac through the magsafe. I think we can support apple and also recognize a really stupid decision. Now if headphones become standard with lightning ports and the iPhone magically improves its battery life dramatically I will shut my mouth.

Why would headphones come standard with Lightning plugs when not everyone will use them with Apple products? Headphones will be platform agnostic, and customers will buy whatever connection cable that best suits heir needs. And why do you assume nobody at Apple ever had the same thought that in doing this there would be no way to easily charge the iPhone while using headphones at the same time?

The annoyance of not being able to use my favorite headphones might be what finally pushes me away from Apple.

Why would that be an issue? There will likely be simple, unobtrusive, inexpensive, adapters to connect any set of headphones.
