what nonsense. Touch ID can't be seen in a case design, but its super useful. duo tone flash can't be seen in a case design, now everyone copies it. 3D touch is innovative and i use it daily, also can't be seen. etc etc...

haters need to get over their child-like obsession with having a phone case that looks different so you can show off to your classmates. its as absurd as expecting your DVD player to look different every year. nuts!

It's not a question of hate but a question of taste! Seems you're one of the few happy and I'm really happy for you. Can't compare DVD-players with mobile phones. But maybe you like retro look.

You watch. Samsung's next phone will drop the headphone jack and so will Android's. You'll have no choice soon.

At the next Samsung event, the guy on stage will be heard saying "Guess what, we removed the headphone jack as you don't need it."
And he (as is apple) would be wrong about not needing it.

Until battery life gets (way) better and/or wireless charging becomes worthwhile -- being wireless for something like headphones is just a power decision.

All I can do is voice my concerns about it and simply not buy them and hope for the best :)

You must have money to burn , even now after years of upgrading I think Apple are just milking the customers and won't be upgrading for the first time ever.

Losing the headphone is a huge mistake as nobody wants an ugly adapter hanging out the bottom.
Agreed -- 100%

So with all the people on here saying they won't be upgrading, does that mean I will actually be able to pre-order one for release date, rather than having to wait until later because they have sold out of the first batch :D
I wish that's what it meant!

But no, as usual this does not represent the real world...at all. And the 10+ million iPhones Apple will have manufactured for launch weekend will still be insanely hard to come by.

Can't wait to hear how Tim Cook will spin this one.

I suspect it'll be along the lines of "gorgeous" design of the iPhone 6s so why change it.
Faster A10 processor, better camera, better battery in the same thin-body
No audio jack, bluetooth earbuds and charger maybe push the whole wireless theme.

No, no, no...it's going to be "magical" how it wirelessly connects

Unimpressed... Guess I'll hold on to my iPhone 6+ for a few more years.

That's what I'm doing with my 6s. I'll wait until the 8 is released, with it being the 10th anniversary iPhone, I'm sure they are pouring all their resources into that phone. This 7, is just a hold-over.

They really haven't been "insanely" hard to come by for many years now especially if you are buying the higher storage capacity models. I believe both my 6 and 6s were pretty easy to order the day or two after the pre-orders started from Best Buy, Verizon, and my local Apple stores for delivery/pickup day of the release.

That's because Tim Cook's Apple isn't about innovation. It's about stability and safety. He's just keeping the old ship going rather than bothering to create anything new. TBH what Tesla is doing now is far more exciting than Apple. Tesla are the new Apple.
Tesla loses more money every quarter. If they keep that up, don't expect them to be around in a couple of years. Apple is certainly in transition. I am hopeful to see something that gives a clue as to where they are headed with their next announcement. If they can show that they have a clear vision and that these steps are necessary to getting there, then I am okay with keeping the ship running smoothly and making a profit until the vision materializes. THere is no point in sinking the ship with moonshots the way Tesla is doing.

Wireless charging might come this year if not definitely next year.

And regarding the other post you replied to, I know we've seen rumours of an adapter but they'll most likely ship Lightning connected EarPods. If you don't get on with them, get Bluetooth ones.

Losing the headphone is a huge mistake as nobody wants an ugly adapter hanging out the bottom.

Everyone in my house that has an iPhone is already using bluetooth headphones. I haven't used my headphone jack for 2 years. I see so many more people on bluetooth and at least half, if not more, headphone options are wireless.

What were people actually expecting design wise. For me, going from a 16GB iphone 6 to iphone 7 with bigger storage (64GB or more) faster processors 3D touch and anything else is a bonus. It's a much needed upgrade for me.

Losing the headphone port is a bit odd. One of the reasons I went for a macbook pro over the new macbook. Other than the better processors etc the pro has. Having one port that does everything but you need adapters for everything seems backwards.

They aren't coming standard with lightning right now, and I don't honestly think they will in the future. My point was, that if the technology was solidifying into a standard I can sort of understand the move to remove the jack. And I know apple has "thought" of people trying to charge and talk on a wired headset at the same time. But they clearly give zero craps because they are removing the headphone jack and that option....

So, perhaps they added inductive wireless charging when they removed the headphone jack?

How is the battery life on your Bluetooth earbuds? I have had two different people have their Bluetooth headsets die on business calls. It's a small annoyance, but an annoyance nevertheless.

I am honestly curious though on battery life and then the time it takes to charge them back to 100%

iPhone 6.5.5?

Again, no point for anyone to upgrade unless they have a 5.

Or maybe if they have a 6 and want a CPU upgrade of 3X and GPU upgrade of 6X or maybe want 2-3 X the RAM for more seamless multi-tasking, or possibly the dramatically higher quality camera, or ..... or .....
I mean seriously! if changing the look of the phone is all that matters to you, yes the repositioning of the antenna lines probably will not float you boat. But I upgrade for features and performance and we still know very little about those except what we get from history and that is about 50-100% faster CPU and 100-200% faster GPU each year. So if you are sporting an A8 the A10 will probably rock your world! With additional memory, faster wireless and who know what else, there is still a lot this phone could do.

Oh ya! and I can give you one more we don't yet know about.

If the base model is 32gb and someone upgraded to 64gb last year but didn't need it. Upgrading this year on one of the more common lease plans would actually reduce their monthly cost and give them a new phone.

This is so annoying, because it's basically going to be a 6S.5.

I've had my iPhone 6 for 2 years, so I have to upgrade, the battery life is nowhere near what it used to be (and as it's an iPhone battery, it didn't used to be magnificent anyway). And yet this... thing is my only choice.

This, or I step out of the ecosystem and get a Galaxy Note 7, which looks so much better.

Stepping out is better. There are some app credit promotions that go around from time to time, so you could get a $50 play credit if you're patient, but you also don't want to miss out on a free Gear Fit 2, 256 GB SD card, or free yr of Netflix (w/ T-Mobile only).

Pretty much paid for a handful of apps on iOS. I have spent more on Google Play than iOS. Android has pretty every app you need. It's not desolate like Windows.

Hang on a sec. I have an IP6 and an iPad pro 9.7, and find the IP6's speed still totally acceptable. I will certainly not upgrade my IP6 for the speed increase. Skip for me until there is a new design AND additional functionality.

Speed increase alone is not a sufficient reason to upgrade, that is a given due to the simple technological advancement, not innovation.

My innovation wishlist would be: better screen, new functionality, new OS features.

Can we not throw theoretical numbers to describe processor improvements? An iPhone 6 will not be that much behind the 7 making it obsolete. If it were a 3S to a 6S, that's different. #s don't mean much, real world performance and the eye test does.

That's what most iPhone users should do. Use their purchase power to say, "Apple, we have had enough with the slow upgrades. Either make a good iPhone or we're done." I regret upgrading to the 6S+ because my 6+ was about the same in performance and the upgrades are really negligible to me.

Depends on the buds of course.

Moving into the phone itself, the iPhone 7 Plus is going to have a bigger battery (3150 mAh compared to 2750 mAh on the 6s Plus) which will make a difference. The A10 chip is also focusing on efficiency more rather than speed and is also using fan-out technology which will help. We will see around 90-120 extra minutes of battery life.

I'm really annoyed that it's the same shape and size as the 6/6S but that darn camera is going to make me buy a new case.

I'm going to get it because I need a new phone, but not excited about it at all.

The Note 7 is very enticing, but I'm too deep into the Apple ecosystem to leave....Apple has me like Bangkok

So, this is going to be the lowest selling iPhone in Apple's history. I hope they have some groundbreaking Macs, Watches or whatever else to be released soon to compensate for the massive loss incured by the iPhone 7

I'm looking forward to upgrading to a 6S in September.

So whatever new features or improvements of this new iPhone over the iPhone 6S have to outweigh the benefits of using my existing headphones, which I like a lot. It's going to be a tough hurdle.
