iPhone XR Played with the XR today - Apple is really ripping off all iPhone buyers

Waddya mean what else could he say? I say the same thing. I could return my Max tomorrow for a XR if I wanted to as could he. The extra $ is well worth it in our eyes for the Max. No idea why that’s funny or why you’d think we are trying to justify our purchase. Lol

I am not trying to say anything. I am saying straight up that many are already outside the return period and Apple already has their money. If you aren’t beyond and choose to keep it that is what you want to do. Those beyond the 14 days no longer have the option or choice.

I was pretty impulsive myself. I purchased the XS Max twice! LOL It is a great phone and honestly money is no option other than I prefer it in my account rather than in Apple’s. So I returned the second Max yesterday to the Apple store. I had received an Xr at 9 am. By 7 pm I made my decision to keep Xr and return Max. I am happy! I made the decision that was best for me and I am personally not moved by the opinion of folks on this forum. Xr rocks just fine. $450 back in my account Max not worth it to me. Display on the Max un-questionably better but again not enough for Apple to get my money. I think more people should be wiser with money, but they can do whatever they want. :D

When you say more people should be wiser with their money, are you alluding that those who chose the xs/max over xr were being unwise with theirs?

Yea I get it but it still doesn’t mean whoever was past the 14 day window wouldn’t keep the Max over the XR. I’m not past mine and nobody is taking my Max from me. :)

I think with iPhone you have so many routes nowni can’t fault any a9 and up

6s for headphone jack and physical home button and saving good coin for for the iPad
2 longevity of iPhones.

7 for being 8 screen without glass back and most features / 7plus dual cam

8 for a11 camera and glass back look/wireless charging ... More heft on 8plus tho

X bc great sale prices and dual cam / OLED

Xs/max bc latest and greatest

Xr bc price and best battery life and colors and no pwm and a reasonable $50 bump 64 to 128. Instead of 64 to 256 for $150 Still the case w Xr but there’s a mid step since many find 256 overkill.

Se for headphone jack and one handed ness mostly

It’s simple honestly many would prefer to pay a lot less. In the case of the Xr it comes with a some sacrifices. But for many that is absolutely the wise choice. Why because for me and I am sure many others the cost of admission is not worth it for the Xs or Xs Max. Again, I much prefer that money in my account instead of Apples and I am thrilled with the Xr. Everyone has to make a decision for themselves. The money for some maybe worth it, but it is an unwise spend considering what the Xr offers for me, but I speak for myself and those that don’t want to spend that kind of money.

Yup. I love me some “latest and greatest”. :)

I usually upgrade every year, however with the Max I plan I’m holding onto it for at least 2 years. Not sure what else I want in a phone. It’s the phone I’ve wanted for years...plus size without the huge top and bottom bezels.

You’re “THRILLED” with your XR, good on you. I hope you don’t ever wake up in the middle of the night, grab your phone, and feel a deep sense of regret upon seeing things on an LCD screen.

You are totally missing the point! I have already seen post after post from Max owners that wish they had waited. I would be one if I was beyond the 14 would say. Damn, I could have saved some money. But you are correct now that they have them they will enjoy them but buyers remorse is real.

“Wise” choice for who? Again, you’re making assumptions. To me the Max is the wise choice. I plan on keeping it for at least 2 years and I wanted the best current phone available and to me it’s the Max. We can go back and forth all night so I’ll stop here. Lol

Uh it has not happened on any other LCD screen iPhone I have had so why would I regret it now? That just silly! :p

Reading comprehension!! For me and those like me that do not want to give Apple all that money! :)

Yea but once you go OLED, you never go back. ;)

Haha ok gotcha. I love how Apple somehow got us to think that an $800 phone is now a bargain. Lol

I think I read that a couple of times before! LOL

It bears repeating. :D

None of these phones are a bargain, but one of them allows us to give Apple a lot less dough!

Optical zoom is enough to justify it for me. If they could add a 5x lens, even better.

Then the Max would be worth it. :D

I have a MAX now, and I went to the store today to check out the XR.

1) The XR seems like it does 98% of what the XS/Max both do, for much less. The vast majority of iPhone users would love that phone

2) The white, red, blue and yellow look great in person

3) The XS and Max feel and look “nicer” than the XR, but I’m not seeing the utility. For example, the XR screen is fine, and the camera feels excellent. All apps will work equally well on all of these phones

4) Apple really should have released a single next generation iPhone with XR dimensions and specs and an OLED screen starting at around $899 at 128G. This would have been “the new iPhone” and created a huge upgrade cycle. Instead we have this dual track system where none of the buyers actually get real value.
Oh yay, another thread of “Apple is a rip off but I bought the top end model anyway” thread.

*yawn

Having OLED, 3D Touch, 512 gb, and bigger screen are features on my max that I don’t mind paying extra for. The device is on me 16 hours a day. The few hundred extra dollars are easily worth it to me to have a premium device.

My husband and I bought the XS Max and we’re completely satisfied with them.To me the XR would be considered a downgrade. OLED displays are better for me. Since we have an OLED TV at home. I have no buyers remorse. However, I’m very glad Apple is offering an LCD X option for people with sensitivities until they can get the quirks of OLED figured out.

Since I tried a Samsung S4 Edge a few years ago, I have never wanted anything BUT an OLED display and Apple finally delivered with the X.

Then....they delivered again with the Xs MAX, a huge OLED screen with about as minimal a physical sized phone as you can have.

Do I feel ripped off? Hell no. I feel like Apple finally gave, me personally, the phone I had been waiting for since I had my first 6Plus. Is the price pretty damn high? Sure. But at the end of the day I look at this phone and feel like it is the first time I honestly can say I might keep my iPhone for more than one cycle.

As a iPhone X owner , the iPhone XR is the better value phone. Period. It will sell the most, the screen is just fine - in fact it’s brighter than my iPhone X screen. I think many will be satisfied with this phone and think Apple have actually shot themselves in the foot with this model

depends

if you want
an even bigger screen
OLED display
3D touch
Duel cameras

then not really. Depends how much those things matter to you.

The 3D Touch aspect is Apple being stupid. That functionality could easily be replicated with Haptic feedback. There’s plenty of evidence in XR usage that supports this notion.

Premium cars will get you from A to B just as good as any economy car. But they can costs 10s of thousands more. Does the premium car owner say they got ripped off? Some people just enjoy having a premium product. Some people may have a specific need for the XS / Max’s slight performance benefits. So really there’s not much else to say. I like my Max and don’t feel like I was ripped off.

There’s usually a massive difference though and with a premium car it feels premium over a mainstream model from its ride quality, performance and all the way down to the materials used within its interior.

Compare this example to an iPhone and there is not hundreds of pounds worth of improvements between models in my view. To me the XS doesn’t feel more premium than an 8+, because Apple make very premium feeling products across their range. The quality remains the same. You couldn’t legitimately say the XS Max is a Mercedes whereas the XR is a Ford for instance. I don’t think OLED and a stainless steel frame is worth £400 more but it seems some here do.

Then you’re not the target audience for the iPhone XS. That’s perfectly fine that you like an older iPhone 8, but what you’re really trying to say is, you can’t justify the price point for some of the latest technology, when others can. Again, it’s all preference and prerogative, which is what I think @Vermifuge was indicating why we choose based off what we appreciate.

Thanks! I can’t respond to every would be internet legal expert. 1. 2.

1. Nothing on the internet goes unpunished. Always an internet attorney wanting it to nitpick small details. 2. Also can’t beleave that every statement made on the internet requires numerous citations to prevent such commentary.
