No poll answer fits me. Yes I'll probably buy the 15", I need a 4-core Mac for work and they left me little choice, but I have no love for Apple or most of the mediocre fashionware they're selling at extortionate prices.

I hope this will be the last Apple product I'll ever buy.

Ive been a loyal apple fan over the years, currently owning a 2013 iMac, 2012 cmbp and an iPhone 6s. However recently I've been falling out of love with Apple.

First with the iPhone, simply can't justify getting the iPhone 7 with the lack of headphone jack, lack of innovation and price hike in the UK. I don't buy the fact that they couldn't make the phone more waterproof without cutting the jack. Just look at the Samsung GS7 which is both more waterproof and has a headphone jack. Its just an attempt to make more money from selling licensing rights to headphone companies to use the proprietary jack, I'm seeing a worrying trend with Apple money grabbing. Already purchased Samsung GS7, iPhone 6s is now on Ebay.

Now Apple has released the new rMBP, I could have possibly excused the lack of ports in order to make the laptop thinner and lighter, i could have excused the laptop only using Skylake chips in order to bring Iris graphics to the 13" models. But what i can't excuse is the price. Ive been waiting for this device for almost a year, some people have been waiting for almost 3 years, just to be shown the middle finger by Apple who has made it clear that they no longer want most of us as customers. £1749 for a base 13" with Touch Bar, which is the true macbook pro replacement with a 28w chip, is quite frankly insulting. The Dell XPS looks like a decent offering for the price so thats probably going to be my next move. Apple under Tim Cook has seriously lost its way.

what was wrong with your iPhone 6s that you had to sell it on eBay? I'm also mad that Apple removed the headphone jack since I charge and use headphones literally all the time. so I'll just use my 6s till it dies or a iPhone comes out with a headphone jack.

btw dell xps 13 has a 25w processor...

None of Apple's new laptops really entice me, I've got a 15" 2011 MB Pro, being able to upgrade the hard drive to a 1TB SSD and 16GB of memory was nice and it feels as fast as anything Apple sells now.

I have a MBP 13" 2011. Running SSD and 16GB Ram. Operates perfectly. Speed & Processing wise, I'd like to see real comparisons, know where?

I have been an apple user since the IIGS. At some point in 2015 I had 3 iMacs and an MBP in my household. I am now down to 1 2014 iMac. The other two older iMacs have died and my MBP all died last year. I have been patiently waiting.

I guess the wait is over and I don't plan on getting another MBP or iMac. The biggest let down for me was when Apple tried to make me switch from Aperture to photos. I switched from Aperture to Lightroom on PC.

Now the kids and wife use the iMac to surf the web and play roblox or minecraft and to backup their iTunes.

There is no answer to fit my situation. My older MBP was dying a slow death by occasional freezing and I ended up buying a refurbished 15" 2.8/16/500. I laughed when Apple said they cared about the MBP at the event, it took over 500 days to update when the average had been 250 to 300 days...

Sad, but true Apple`s target audience is shifting. For me the pricing does not intimidate, however the value no longer remains. Apple these days only serves Apple, I serve my family and can easily live in the W10 world. Apple wants my business, Apple needs to step up, not just offer trick & bells...

Q-6

Going with disgruntled. This is actually going to be my first Mac. I grew up with Windows, and have only ever owned Windows computers. But with the direction Microsoft has been taking since Windows 7, I thought it was time for a change. My 2008 Sony VAIO Z running Windows Vista still runs great hardware-wise, but there's no longer any software support for the device or the OS; so it was time for an upgrade. I knew I was going to get the new MacBook Pro unless it was completely terrible. I was definitely impressed with what I saw in the announcement today (Touch Bar and new form factor stand out).

My only concern is that they were priced a bit more than I thought they would be. But I don't think the prices are unreasonable, compared to both Apple's older offerings as well as those from similar competitors. The thing is, Apple doesn't have many "similar" competitors, so they can charge that supposed Apple tax. My budget didn't allow for anything better than the base 13" with Touch Bar, but I think I will be happy with it.

You know you can get the refurbished 2015 models they all all the ports and mag safe!! No need to buy the dongles and retard *****

DONGLES!!!

I picked wait and see not because I don't want one but because I want to wait for peripherals to catch up. I have Macbooks with TB ports which I use as Firewire for my external drives. I really don't want to have two (or is it three?) dongles between my MBP and my external drives. In fact I was still waiting for TB peripherals to settle down in cost when Apple went and did this. I'm not made of money and at these prices, I should have gotten several of these dongles in the box like I got a lightning to 3.5mm dongle in the box when I bought my iPhone 7.

I'm intrigued about the usability of the touch strip that replaces the function keys. Perhaps my hands are smaller than average but it's not easy for me to reach the function keys without moving my hands off my home keys. I've never used a touchscreen laptop so I don't know how much better this would be than using Win 8 or whatever MS is selling these days. One thing that continues to frustrate me is the fact my fingers aren't transparent and so many touchscreen user interfaces have screen elements that are obscured when I try to operate them (on my iPhone and iPad). Watching the keynote, I got the impression that with the touchstrip this would be less of a problem. I'm very loyal to Apple and OSX/MacOS but I'm reluctant to pick up one of these machines until I can figure out what to do with all my old peripherals (HDMI/Firewire/USB).

I should add that I recently bought an 11 inch MBA. I considered the Macbook but that single USBC port was too stingy for me to shell out more money for less expansion options. Granted my use case is mostly sitting there using my MBA without anything plugged in but power, but just the thought of plugging something in while on a business trip and realizing I left dongle xyz at home was enough for me to stick with MBA. My lowly 11 inch MBA costs less to expand (with today's peripherals) than the flagship 15 inch MBP.

Okay, but I don't care about all those ports and MagSafe. I'd rather have a slimmer, more portable computer and the versatility of USB-C. There are many computers on the market today, but the 2016 MBP is the one that speaks to me.

I'm 99% sure I'd never use the Touch Bar after the first day or so, and everything else announced while nice isn't worth the price increase to me. So no, I'll keep what I have and see where I go in the future.

I am 100% i wouldn't use it at all other than the first day to try it out. Only thing useful is touch ID and not worth the price for it. I am happy with my 2015 MacBook pro that I got for $1,400 including sales tax on the base model but with the 256GB SSD.

I have to agree with the guy just before me. I grabbed a refurb 2015 13-inch a few months back and I'm very happy with it. The weight and feel is good and it's plenty powerful for what I do with it. I don't see anything here that makes me want to upgrade and I'm not sure that I don't see some things that make me not want to upgrade.

It's kind of the same thing with the iPhone 7.

Maybe in a few years.

I've changed my though I'm almost certainly going to upgrade, but I still don't think I'll use the touch bar. :) My late 2013 MBP still runs great so I'm sure there's even less of a reason for 2015 owners to upgrade. I just like wasting money on new Apple tech.

Not only am I not upgrading, but neither will my company. We were chomping at the bit for new MacBook Pros. These new machines don't fit our requirements for a variety of reasons. We are reevaluating Windows, something I never would have thought possible a few years ago.

I order the 13 in with touch bar. Sounds retarded and probably am myself for paying that much.

I ordered the space gray with 16gb and 256gb SSD

The new Surface Book is gorgeous. So is the new MacBook Pro.

I don't know how anybody could think either company doing what they're doing is a bad thing.

The Surface will push Apple to be better and clearly the Surface itself is a product of Apple pushing Microsoft.

This is really all a win win for all us consumers.
That's the most positive outlook I've seen in this thread, and I find myself totally agreeing.

I'm sticking with Mac because I still think a touchscreen laptop is a bad idea (when I found myself wiping all the fingerprints off my MBP's screen after a job fair, I was glad it was just a one-time thing), but we're finally to the point where neither of the Big Two's products are horrible in any way.

Since yesterday's event, there have been allot of comments regarding the MacBook Pros new line up and I think it will be interesting to see how the latest news on their features, prices and company direction have affected you as a consumer. Please choose the option that you feel applies to you
I've been making the move from Window/android to Apple for a couple of years. I have an iPad Air 2 and an iPhone 6. I wanted to replace my Thinkpad with a MBP 15 but... the new machine will require adapters to link to my other pretty late model Apple products, there is no card reader, storage is not upgradeable, I read bad reviews about the keyboard, the graphic processor lags behind the high end Surface. I was ready to make the purchase but these issues bugged me. Then I started reading more reviews and it looks like the professionals have the same concerns; I read a devastating conversation between tech writers in CNET (a source I've respected for years) and I just can't pull the trigger, even with my wife saying go ahead, you deserve a new machine! I really want to replace my Windows laptop with an Apple but it looks like I'm going to wait.

I'm on the fence right now. I'm on the market for a secondary 13 inch notebook to supplement my iMac. Waiting for the reviews first before making the final decision.

The three main issues raised regarding the new line up are:
Price/value
CPUs that are closer to being outdated.
More ram options

I think if we remove the idea of it being targeted as PRO laptops, you have a formidable premium everyday warrior that is future-proof in the I/O dept and would serve you very well for the next few years. So it balls down to what you intend to use it for and if your wallet has the muscle to appreciate the expensive value.

Yea also if you ever intend to dabble in iOS programming, something I'm trying to pick up in my spare time (I don't make money off it or ever think I will, but I am working on an app for fun currently)

Based on the tech giants keynotes of last week, Microsoft wants to empower you and then tax you, Apple wants to tax you and if you survive, empower you (hopefully).

At least I'm doing something substantive rather than bitching on an Internet forum about something I won't buy. I thought logically about my needs and likely specs for the Pro and it slightly exceeded my expectations. I set a budget more than a month ago based on 2015 Pro prices and the cost of the Pro ended up being $23 less than the budget.

The fact that my purchases help Apple and posting about it pisses of haters and trolls on the forums is just icing.

Tell me, how soon will you make your windows pc purchase?

"Haters"? "Trolls"? Those are words teenagers use when they come across people who don't share their opinion. It's great that you love Apple...more power to you. But just because someone else may not have such a positive opinion of certain apple products doesn't make them a "hater" or a "troll". It simple means...

They have a different opinion than you do.

Currently, I'm on the fence. I have a 2010 MBP that is far too slow for anything these days, and needs replaced. It's not my main machine, so I can wait it for a while as I decide what to do.

I run Windows, OSX (official and hackintosh), and Linux, so it's not like I'm going back to Windows full time. But, I'm equally disenchanted with all the other offerings from Dell, HP, etc. I can't help but think if Apple would have just brought these things out even $200 cheaper (or came standard with 16GB RAM / 512 HD), that we would all people completely (mostly) happy with the announcement. The CPU is fine; The GPU is fine; I don't plan on gaming. But, 8GB/256GB as a base for $1800 is a tough pill to swallow.
