Because I was duped into ordering a portenzo by the shills on this thread and then cancelled. It all flowed from there as to where I ended up ordering.

When you get your case let me know about it so i can see if it works with the ipad 3 I'll be using at the time

Alot of people in this thread aren't as impatient as you and are willing to wait for quality. I know I didn't rush to pick up the case that got to me the fastest. I would rather a quality product. I have other ways of protecting my device in the meantime.

You let me know when you put in that order for a Portenzo again after your octavo falls apart.

Now go to this link and look at the close up of the interiors of this case.
http://padandquill.com/the-octavo-for-ipad2.html

Look at the corners.

Also, Octavo has rounded corners as well. I have used the first gen and they are very smooth, sanded, etc Made of same material as portenzo.

Just wanted to clear that up since you were making comments regarding texture from a thumbnail image

If you compare Pad & Quill to their ipad 1 case to the Pad and Quill ipad 2 is not as good. They obviously rushed to get these out

No basis for this comment. Someone produces something on time and so that implies rushing vs. manufacturing ability? Now I am convinced of the shilling going on here.

My first gen Pad & Quill (also received on time) is in mint condition after a lot of heavy use.

The Portenzo defense is starting to become increasingly full of fail.

This thread is infinitely interesting. I keep planning not to read it anymore, but I can't seem to stop myself!

But, I really don't understand this. With all do respect, I don't understand how a lot of enthusiastic people (many of whom have already had positive experiences with Portenzo) translates into shills. This is what I don't get--the conspiracy theories and the need to continue to stay in this thread and bash this product and promote others.

Yes, there's a lot of hype for a product that we haven't seen yet. And yes, everyone who still has faith in this company may end up disappointed. But I don't get the bitterness that I see in this thread. If I was upset and disappointed by Portenzo, I would do the following:

1) Cancel the order and do whatever it took to get my money back (if indeed I had been charged)
2) Find another case I was excited about
3) Make or participate in a thread about that other case
4) Maybe make one post about my negative and disappointing experience with Portenzo just as an FYI to other potential customers
5) Move on.

I guess for me this is sort of a study in human nature. Having differing viewpoints doesn't make one group shills or the bad guys. And those who are disappointed, perhaps have every right to be. But I guess my response would be completely different--get my money back, make (at most) one post about why I made the decision I made, and then enjoy my experience with the alternative company/product. Anything else just strikes me as extremely strange (and unfortunately, makes me, who is doing my very best to be rational, question the motives of some of those who continue to post here).

All of this--when no one has lost any money??

Are you the authority of on time production and shipping? The iPad 2 was announced on March 2nd and delivered on March 11th. Considering that Apple doesn't prerelease design measurements, no manufacturers had actual tablets in their hands until the 11th. Assuming they started measuring and designing that night, they've had 18 days to design, order and receive materials, build, test and ship their products. I know that some people are impatient, but working yourself up into a frenzy over a product that is currently one week late to ship is a little ridiculous. After all, it is well documented that the first product to ship is always best, which is why I'm browsing this forum on Netscape.

Cue the iPad 3 joke. It's a riot!

Hey hey.. Mozilla still rulez.. :). I think a lot of the problems is just that..no news.. Im keeping my order but i understand some are jumping ship.. When i emailed darin i got quick replies.. But i think they are experiencing major overload... Im sure we will here from darin himself soon.. I just hope they clear up any conspiracy thoeries going on lol

Agree with all you wrote. Just as soon as I get an email about my refund (it has been two weeks now), I will have some closure with respect to this thread and merchant.

I'm going to hold you to that, lol! ;)

When did you cancel your order? At this point, the shipping delay in only one week and one day.

Darin responded very quickly to two messages that I sent him in the two weeks before shipment was scheduled to begin. To be honest, I really believe the Portenzo team is just overwhelmed (that's no excuse for them--just what I suspect to be the current situation).

just ordered a brown treegloo - love how customizable they are...

we will see what gets here first my 3/11 portenzo order or my 3/29 treegloo order

The model I wanted moved to a 3 week delay after initially being a 1-2 week wait. Just could not risk it moving to 5 weeks which seems likely. I have a Pad & Quill for the first ipad and it was beautiful. Wanted to give Portenzo a shot but for me any improvement in quality (according to the folks in this thread) just was not that important.

Maybe next version they will have their ducks in a row now that they have a sense of demand. Plus they probably should raise their prices.

I was going to order but sounds like no clue on shipping. Will just use neoprene case for now. When we get some reliability on shipping timeframes I will place my order. (plus also worried things might be rushed now to fill this first wave of orders).

You hadn't even ordered as of five days ago. How did you cancel two weeks ago? You officially have no more credibility on this thread.

lol.. ok we have a race.. my wife just ordered a treegloo.. im gonna order an octavo tomorrow.. lets see which comes first.. the chicken, egg, or portenzo

jk jk

Ive been craving for the composition case ever since I saw it for the first gen iPad.... I will wait for you!!! I did think about getting the grove case until I saw the 3-6 week shipping for the first batch and my friends iPhone case split on the first drop. But in the mean time I'm using the incase origami case...which I have to say...I really like it..I would recommend it if your looking for a sleeve/ stand.

Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Z.Z. Tang and I am a Portenzo scalper. I hold order numbers 1 through 3423.5. How long must I endure until I receive my supply of Portenzos. I am in a big hurry. Chop Chop Darin. :p

Agreed. These are the same people that called the experience of watching their ipad 2 ship through Lantau Island and Hong Kong "frustrating" and a "nightmare".

I'm not a fan of the clipped corners on the DodoCase or the P&Q Octavio, I would prefer a clean book-like edge. The Treegloo looks like a contender though.

Treegloo just responded to my Facebook wall post in ~10 minutes. I like the pictures/reviews of the case too.

I wish I knew what was going on with the Portenzo!

Well, I put my Portenzo order in on March 24th, and my Treegloo order in on March 28th. I have a feeling Treegloo will arrive first, but I'd really like to compare the quality of the two cases....someday.

LOL at all the bickering over a $60 case that will be obsolete in a year.

Hey cases are important. They say so much about a person. Like I don't get why you'd want a case for an iPhone or iPad that has a hole in the back for the frakkin logo. How does one spell Frak a in BSG...Colonial language?

What did you order with Treegloo. Can you do a review thread with pix when you get it I love the maps for the liner and the frame options. I want leather but man they look cool.

The P&Q for iPad 1 looked nice. Anything specific you really liked or disliked about it? What do you think of the P&Q iPad 2 version?
