For those of you considering jumping ship, which case will you go with? I ordered on 3/14 and am STILL waiting like a lot of you. He promised they'd all be shipped by tomorrow so I'm waiting until then, but if they aren't I will need to look elsewhere.

SO, what are you going with? DODOcase? Treegloo? Octavo?

IF I have to change to another case, I will go with SwitchEasy Canvas, I have ordered from them before for my iPod touch, quality can't be beat for such a case :)

Don't know yet what I would do if I don't get a notice this week, I can wait a long time, but I'm definitely being tested at the moment (Lack of communication can be a bit frustrating). I might keep my order but I won't be ordering from them again since I didn't know when I placed my order how long I would had to wait to get it(...still don't).

Oh yeah, I used to defend them, but I've been reaching my limit, I am human after all. And I gave them the benefit of the doubt (still do) but some people just went straight for the jugular too early too soon. At the beginning Darin would usually come to the forums and communicate what was happening, but after a while people started getting nasty and trolling and he never came back. At the beginning, that could make anybody wait for a little while, communication is key, lack there of might not be a good idea

That's what I use and most of my emails are barely responded too. I emailed last Tuesday about my preordered comp II .. If there is no response by tomorrow, I am canceling for DoDo

I understand your perspective. All I can really say about that is if the fact is true that they have been slammed I would rather them be trying to dig themselves out, train NEW help and so forth so that they could get my case out. Granted I have not ordered yet, so I am sure that you feel I am just blowing smoke. But I would rather have a company focus on the production first and communication second unless there is going to have to be a delay in my current order.
I am not sure when you ordered, but most of the books I have seen on their site including the Composition II state they will ship in anywhere from 2-6 weeks. Granted from what I have seen here, they are closer to the 4-6 week shipping than anything else. So unless they are aproaching the 6 week mark I would not expect a response to "where is my order". If they spent time responding to every " where is my order " when it was just ordered last week they would have to probably have two people responding 8 hours a day. I am under the understanding that this is a small company and that is part of the charm that is associated with them versus the BIG BOX operations that have their stuff made in China for pennies on the dollar. As well as making it easier to get something custom in the long run.

The piece that you are missing is that folks ordered when it said 1-2 weeks. Very few orders hit that with the bulk being at around 4 weeks with little to no communication why. Someone managed to root out that the morocco material JUST came in last Thursday but yet Darin promised that ALL orders would be caught up by 4/25, from that same response on Facebook it is looking like another 2-4 weeks before those orders actually ship.. So yes some are at 4 weeks some are at 6 and all of those were during a promised ship time of 1-2 weeks. Additionally on Facebook they just told someone that if there was a problem with the credit card, they SUPPOSEDLY sent an email then just cancelled the order. So, even if you decided to wait, your order might just end up cancelled... I like the quality of Portenzo, but it doesn't appear to be in the cards that many will get them any time soon.

Lol. Now they've changed notebook to "New Orders 4-6 weeks (Quality Takes Time)" and composition/23.5 to "Usually Ships in 4 to 6 Weeks"

Finally they become honest.

After my ordeal I ended up purchasing a Speck Pixelskin HD wrap. Totally different perspective but I liked the looks. I will probably not ever end up purchasing a Portenzo after the way I was treated with my order.

I cancelled an order from them and go my refund pretty quickly. Went and bought a octavo and treegloo for diff purposes. Got both pretty quickly. Put another on order as I like their stylus holder and now don't care when I get it.

I was a big supporter of them early on as they were answering the emails reasonably and then all of sudden went dark on me. I cancelled when I read "we're not answering any emails now as we are trying to ship for the next few days." What is this? The Keebler elves?

Very amateur....Nice case, looking forward to getting it sometime..just not sitting around waiting for it.

No Keebler elves I am sure but I am sure that you would agree that if you are trying to utilize ALL your staff to get work orders out that you do not have the resources to have a person to sit and wait for every e-mail that comes in, especially a small company. I used to be the secretary for a MC club and people would want an update every day. If I did not give it to them they wiould get pissed, even though that never help get anything done sooner. But I hear you on sitting around waiting part, that is why I am doing exactly what you did except I will only buy one cover and then place my order and wait patiently for my Custom made cover :)

Actually I did understand that Mike and I agree that communication from what I have read here has been lacking. But like I said elsewhere in this thread I have and do deal with another comopany ( motorcycle related though ) that has a history of poor service but a great reputation for custom work and sometimes you just have to take the good with the bad.
Sometimes people make bad choices or in this case bad estimates of when they will be able to achieve a goal. I am sure that most of us have made some bad estimates before and tried very hard to suck it up and finish what we said. Clearly they have missed those estimates that you have stated and should have been forth coming with the information.
By the way, I am not defending what they have done wrong because I agree with you on many points. The difference is that I had the chance to find this thread before ordering and have the option to buy something else so that I can wait as long as need be for them to get caught up and ship on schedule. Who knows I might like what I buy better:)

sorry, disagree...temps and email templates are cheap and customer communication is a vital part of any company, no matter how small you are....even global email blasts with shipping schedules would be better than going dark. If you are big enuf to take orders nationally, and let a backlog of orders get out of control, you are big enuf to get some info out to the customers that have committed to you.

I have been enjoying my Octavo for several weeks now. So glad I cancelled my Portenzo order. The Octavo is beautiful and very function and I received it super fast with constant communication for Pad & Quill.

i ordered 1 each from Treegloo (30Mar), Pad&quill (31Mar), and Portenzo (9Apr).
Pad&Quill arrived on 16Apr, Cant wait for Treegloo and Portenzo...

Hoping to hear something today, though not expecting it. On the fence about cancellation.

Same here...ordered 3/9. Was told to expect shipment between 4/11 and 4/18. Of course nothing...website says all will be fulfilled by 4/25. Doubtful. Now my dilemma is, if I cancel...which case will I order. Who knew that getting the case I wanted for my iPad2 would be harder then getting the actual iPad!

I ordered 3/15 - hoping for at least an update
I hear that, I'm starting to lean to leaving it naked with a better sleeve than the cheap one I got at launch

I just got an email from Darrin asking me to update my payment information. DONE.
I also responded and asked if this meant my order is shipping today. I can only hope.

Got a shipping confirmation this morning, it should be here by Wednesday. Shipping was upgraded to Fed-Ex 2 Day.

Order placed 3/30

All good things to those who wait...

So no luck I guess! See the below emails.

It would have happened– that quote was generated because our supplier told us our Morroco supply would be in at a certain date. It was then lost in transit for about 2 weeks, so we focused on non-Morocco orders in an attempt to catch up.

Not necessarily. It will likely ship within the next week or so– we charge before we place the interior color, so this means your case was put on hold in production until your payment was updated.

Ordered Morocco notebook 3/25, Order #6729
Changed order to Comp II on 4/7, New Order#9342
Shipping notification email received today, 4/25.

Looks like they worked hard this weekend.

Hmmm it seems that the orders are going out in a haphazard way. Who knows. Someone cancels and it fits another order that was placed later gets the case. I ordered on 4/1 and someone posted here that they already got their 4/1 order. I'm Ok with waiting. I just can't wait to get my hands on one of their cases.
