Possibility of Arrival Before the 19th

You don't have to wait in line to guarantee that you get your phone, but if there's a line when you get there, obviously you can't just cut.. That's why I opted for delivery instead of a reservation. Even if there's just 10 people there, that can be a 30-60 minute wait.
Ordered on June 12 from apple, status is 'Prepared for shipment'.
I initially ordered 32GB 3GS from apple on June 9 but then cancelled the ordered thinking that since I have an FAN account it would be better to order from AT&T, ordered from AT&T premier on June 9. On June 12 my order status at AT&T was backordered, I called the CSR, she told me that they will most probably ship it on June 19 and I should expect to recieve it on either 23 or 24. I told her that apple is promising to deliver it by June 19 and I want to cancell my order, she cancelled my order without an issue.
Reordered the phone from apple, current status is 'Prepared for Shipment'.

I had the same issue as you re: FAN. So I also ordered from AT&T. However, I did not cancel as I was a little concerned of the hassle that I would have to go through to get my FAN applied to my account. If I have to wait until the 22nd or so, it won't be the end of the world.
I've ready through most of this thread but thought I would post this message as I'm not completely certain yet if the answer has been provided.

Does this mean that the phones should show up Friday the 19th or that they will show up Mon/Tues of the following week?

Have you checked your order on https://www.wireless.att.com/order_status/order_status.jsp ?
My hunch tells me that they will start being shipped on the 19th and we won't get them until the 22nd or 23rd. But, maybe I am expecting the worst and hoping for the best

Ordered mine on the 9th and I've got the same thing. I called my my CC company and Apple has put a hold on the money, so...
The weird thing is, at least two people I know who ordered after me already have their status changed.
More than likely the order is held at apple because it looks like you can not upgrade. You would need to call T and ensure that they released the order and reset you back to eligable to upgrade. You need to get this resolved if you want to go into the store and purchase at the discounted price.

Exactly. And after they sent out that email (which I assume you received also) regarding the confusion around 'shipping on' vs. 'delivered by', I am not particularly concerned about the status of the order. The important thing is that the order is in their system.
Mine says "Prepared for Shipment" but I wouldn't be worried if it didn't. If you have a pre-order in, it will get out. The Apple website still says delivered for free by Friday. They have 4 days. What is the max time it would take to get from China to anywhere in the mainland US? 36 hours? Less?
