The ultimate in stupidity. Like an adapter for a iPhone will never get lost.
An adapter or cable with passthrough for power would be a far more affordable option for you. I typically leave at least one lightning cable in each car for charging anyway, so you could always get one for each car. As an added bonus, hooking up your new iPhone to the car will be easier. Just plug the lightning end into the phone. The other ends would remain connected to the audio jack and USB power source. Currently, you have two different cables to plug into your phone each time you get into the car.We have a different definition of "need". I agree, a new stereo would solve the issue, and it would be nice. But to spend many hundreds of dollars to upgrade the head unit on each car, solely to support a phone upgrade, isn't a realistic option for me.
We need to get rid of cables altogether. Wireless everything is the way to go. End the nightmareThe ultimate in stupidity. Like an adapter for a iPhone will never get lost.![]()
I don't think wireless is ready to replace wired headphones yet. Bluetooth 5 may solve outage and bandwidth problems, but battery life is awful.I'm all for the removal of the 3.5mm jack it's had a great run but until it is gone we won't see a strong push for superior wireless headphones/technology.
I just don't get why Apple won't wait for the anniversary iPhone next year, take out the headphone jack and add a USB-C and throw in some beats wireless headphones and everyone is happy (well sort of).
What happens when they remove theirs?Yay! yet another cable thingy to purchase and keep track of.
Or not.
I'm pretty convinced to switch to Android for my next phone, and I never thought I'd say that.
Not all the time, but if the sales do flop and customers make a fuss about it, they may consider it or at least to make advancements to the alternatives.if the iphone 7 flops will the 7S or whatever have it again? Does apple have a history of hearing upset customers demands and reversing course after they made a decision ? my memory fails me.
I Don't know where the majority is. What I know is that :Its a matter of Apple telling the consumer what they need. I'd wager if you did a quick search you'd find the vast majority would take a thicker phone and bigger battery/better ergonomics.
This kind of thing is exactly why I'm leaving Apple.
You may think that this one is fake, personally it looks like a prototype/reject. The design is not fake.It is fake. The connector piece is free hanging inside the plastic cover. How lazy one can be to not use a drop of hot glue to make it look like it is centered. Cheap sensationalism.
Nope me too.. not plugged in a wired headphone in about 3 years. Bluetooth all the way. The funny thing is you get people banging on about high quality headphones etc yet they are using a 100 year old 'technically huge' connector and the fact that 99 percent of the time are playing compressed mp3s. Stoopid.
What are they? Bats?
I remember a blind test on the gadget show a whiel back and even musicians couldn't tell the difference between wire and wireless given decent cans. The only difference they coudl tell was Uncompressed audio over mp3!
There will be 3rd party adapters for that or Apple may sell one themselves, either way it will cost extra. So you can't charge your phone and listen to music at the same time?? You'd think that there'd be a split to a USB and also the headphone jack.
They probably will given that, whether Android fanboys accept it or not, Android manufacturers copy Apple with whatever they do, hence why we see camera bumps on almost all flagships now. Some manufacturers have already removed the headphone jack due to the rumors of Apple doing it, similar to how 'iWatch' rumors sparked companies like Samsung to release a smartwatch first so they can beat Apple to it.What happens when they remove theirs?

Nah, it really wouldn't be big nor bulky if done right.[/QUOTE
Even done practically in parallel, using Apple EarPods results in a solid object more than an inch long. I don't know how well-versed you are in mechanical engineering, but that's a crazy length for a solid object inserted into the Lightning port. Imagine the damage such an object could cause on the port itself. A solid adapter is a stupid idea.
Surely, in this format at least, it's not really anything more than a short extension to the headphone lead?I will never use a dongle with my iPhone. It feels like something I would ridicule a Samsung user for. I really hope that Apple won't go THIS tasteless.
why is it on a wet piece of wood in this picture?

Under Steve, hell no (you don't remember "You're holding it wrong"?)if the iphone 7 flops will the 7S or whatever have it again? Does apple have a history of hearing upset customers demands and reversing course after they made a decision ? my memory fails me.
I agree entirely with your post.
I guess an argument against the headphone jack socket is it could possibly be preventing greater uptake of the alternatives - the fact it's there means most people won't use bluetooth or lightning headphones because of their respective disadvantages and negative aspects (note I'm not saying there aren't any advantages or positive aspects in some people's opinions). And if the market demand isn't there, why should more designers and manufacturers invest in producing bluetooth/lightning earphones/headphones?
Wouldn't be possible due to the electronics inside the end. It could possibly be achieved by making the end thicker.
