Post 3G speeds from speedtest.net app!

Was out of town middle of last month:

AT&T iPhone 4:
LAX: 5/18/11-4:44PM 4.12Mbps down, 1.23Mbps up.
Ft Lauderdale: 5/24/11-3:14PM 4.80Mbps down, 1.21Mbps.

Ping was 292ms on both tests.

Very, very happy with AT&T data speeds, my iPad is a little bit faster at times, max I have received on DL on either device is 4.98Mbps...So close to breaking 5!
 
In my opinion these tests are not a good representation of the carrier speed. I found that Verizon speeds were just as good as AT&T (both on 3G). I'm glad I switched to VZ since I get 3G almost everywhere and I believe it's faster in some cases. I hate ATT after having to deal with those clowns!

Lol its fine just wish there was a way to merge it. Was trying to get one big thread going to people can get an idea of speed.
 
I have AT&T Iphone while the wife has the Verizon model.

On average at home i always get 3 bars of signal while she gets 5. My average speedtest is about 2.5 down and 1.2 upload, while hers is usually 1.4 down and .5 upload
 
One thing I find strange:

MY brother has an iPhone w/ ATT
I have an iPhone w/ Verizon

ATT Download Speed: 4.78 mbps..........ping: 300 ms
Verizon Download Speed: 1.87 mbps.......ping 170 ms

I cleared all the cache, history, and cookies on both the phones. I closed all the apps, and made it as fair as possible.

Next, I tested to see which was faster (on Safari). I loaded a couple websites, and almost every time, the Verizon iPhone was FASTER even though ATT was pulling faster download speeds. It doesn't really make sense, but those were the results. Weird, but why did this happen?

Latency. Verizons latency in that case was quite amazing actually double that of AT&T! Though AT&T in general has much faster speed potential as its 3G technology HSPA pretty much has upgrades pushing into 42mbs with MIMO and 21 with standard devices while Verizon's EvDO has a max of 3.1mbs downlink and the only upgrade for EvDO now is Rev B. which is 9.1Mbs and they aren't rolling this out really at all and no devices really support it except the iPhone 4 (CDMA) and some really new devices.

0.o, I cant wait for the iPhone 5 when it's 4G LTE capable! Right now, LTE is pulling up to 50 mbps down and 8 up!

Yeah its definately a very solid technology. Bummer the verizon iPhone 4 doesn't have it I was looking to really future proof my new phone. Oh well I guess I can wait. AT&T users did it with 3G and the first iPhone!
 
Att Speeds

WOW Your guys ATT 3g speeds are AMAZING! Around here its only about 1.2 - 1.5 mbps. Ill have to check again, but 3mbps + is GREAT!

Verizon will def be left behind then since iPhone 5 won't have LTE until 2012 but will have HSPA+.
