It is. Some people would rather spend their Saturday making a multi-thread page about a whole $15 though- before even speaking to ATT about if it's legit to begin with mind you.
lol I guess...
It's Att's rule..and you signed up with them. Just ask them.

Or better yet... have then ACTUALLY been charged? Since no phones have shipped, and nobody has gotten a charge... it may never happen. Wait until you are charged, then deal with it.

Geez.

I bet you same people cooling off right now will be heated when the actual charges show up. Fake it till you make it.

Ok drama queen. No, I wouldn't be bent out of shape crying this much about a whole $15 if they do bill me, no.

Ya I said that on the last page here too. Nothing's been billed yet just holds/tentative charges. Drama queens here I swear over a whole $15.

Im going to go enjoy my Saturday now instead of hearing whining over a whopping $15. This is pathetic now really. First world problems SMH.

If they don't credit me back this 15 dollars I will be looking to go prepaid or t-mobile or something. I am so sick of AT&T constantly being so greedy. They aren't doing anything to deserve this 15 bucks so they won't be getting it from me.

I got charged with iPhone 6 plus for upgrade 15 dollars fee. They said it's still upgrade regardless where i purchased it as long as I have the service with ATT.

Another word: they don't care if you take your business else where.

AT&T counts on inertia of some number of their consumer base to make money. They already know a certain percent will call and complain. But they are banking on a number of people who believe that arguing over $15 is too trivial or beneath them and just give up.

YEs i have already talked to ATT about the fee, and they said they NO they cant waive the fee unless you have a special discount on your acount. So it is true and no they wont waive it to us little people and i was very nice to her...

Now that isnt going to stop me from talking to a different rep every couple days and trying but that is what the first rep told me....

And if that is the case when I eventually chat with them if this charge actually goes through, then so be it, I will cancel my service and move along. AT&T isn't doing anything that I can't get somewhere else.

If you purchased a phone full price without doing a next upgrade you won't see the fee. It seems the fee appears whether you are doing an upgrade or not when upgrading the phone but you shouldn't see it on your bill. Seems like they are just going through after the fact and seeing which accounts meet the waived requirements or not

That's fine for Next since it's a loan program, but NOT OK for full price purchases!

I don't get charged $15 by Time Warner when I replace a computer in my house that connects to wifi and this is no different.

I feel for you. I kid you not. To be honest, at least to me (especially if I'm working), 15 dollars is not bad if i want to maintain my plan with ATT (due to signal range). I could understand if people leave because of the greediness for charging upgrade fees. There may be many reasons why they are against it. One of the reasons that I found out was because there are people don't work or don't have enough money to get maintain with the plan (that's another whole story). Anyway, we need more competition.

i guess you didnt read what i wrote
I mis-understood it.
I just talked to a ATT rep, complained and said i am going to cancel, cancel me now and she still didnt waive it. only if you have discounts on your account can you get it waived....BS ATT BS
Sorry, I mis-read it. SO yeah..it would affect you with the business.

You are spoiling your own Saturday activities by whining about people whining about this issue. And I am ruining my own Saturday plans by whining about you whining about people whining. It is an infinite whining loop and an integral part of the MR forum dna.

Remember when NEXT 2.0 came out lowering the line access fee for those on the program?

Remember everyone losing their minds when they were charged $40 instead of the $15 or $25?

Remember when those first statements showed up with the credit applied to said lines?

Review the statement when it shows up. You may be OK.

I had an interesting chat with AT&T... I almost had them. I learned a lot about FANS, and basically they are having me go to my hr department to discuss AT&T upgrade fee waivers. I can't believe this.

I asked them if I had a fee waiver on my FAN - YES - I then said, could you credit me $40 for last year's upgrade fee that was charged to me? - NO, Last years FAN did not have a fee waiver. I checked, the FAN account is the same number.

It seems your FAN agreement can change at any time. Mine is with University of California. But it's apart of WSCA, Western States Contract Agreement. This contract represents literally millions of state workers, and entities. Billions of dollars in contracts. I wonder who's brilliant idea it was to not include the upgrade fee waiver, last year?

Anyway, last year was the only time I have ever had to deal with the upgrade fee. I argued till blue to have it waived, and they wouldn't do it. And now I know - I didn't have it in my contract.

The chances are, if you get your fee waived, it was because you weren't supposed to have it in the first place. Not because AT&T was being generous. They are charging millions of users this fee, unjustly. I think it's worth a class action, but I personally am not going to go there. Just planting an idea.

Just upgraded to a 6s and ATT just pissed me off. After nearly 20 yrs with them, and multiple upgrades, they say they can not waive the activation fee this round because I get a discount rate? Never been denied before. Asked for a supervisor and was told it will tell me the same thing. Anyone else have this issue lately? $45 is pretty step!! JMO I try again later in the week.
Seems to me att has been good to you by waving fee previously.

How long did it take to talk with a representative? I am trying to call in to get the 15 dollar fee removed after a full price no contract purchase.

If you don't want to be charged the $15 you could just get the contract free T-Mobile and just swap the sims. The only question is if the T-Mobile version is the same as AT&T with the LTE 30.

I work for AT&T. Here is our new policy for upgrade fees. Word for word...

AT&T next/installment upgrade for existing customer line already on AT&T next/installment line prior to August 1, 2015 (waiver of fee subject to change) -$0

No-commitment and BYOD activation for non-voice and non-tablet devices (e.g., wearables, IoT, WHP)-$0

New AT&T next/installment activation/upgrade-$15

No-commitment and BYOD activation for voice and tablet devices-$15

No-commitment and BYOD upgrades for voice and tablet devices-$0

Subsidized activation/upgrade(e.g., two year agreement) on all devices-$45

Prepaid to postpaid account change-$45

if you already are on a next plan prior to August 1, you will not be charged a fee

I ordered a 6S full price contract free att from apple and I was motivated to remove the fee mostly on principle. This is how the dispute over the $15 transpired:

End result: put in note to apply credit on a one time basis due to the "inconvenience" and my loyalty as a customer. However I was disconnected abruptly when trying to transfer me to someone who can provide unified billing credit and I had to set up a new chat to finalize...

End result: agent was confident that BYOD should not trigger an upgrade fee and added a note stating the credit being applied was valid and not a courtesy.
