I'm using a 16gb right now, and it's perfectly fine.

But but but...

I'm one of those that seems to have to travel, even for groceries, with their entire music collection, and over 100 apps, five of which I use nearly every day... o_O And I spent so much time deciding on what I would put on my 128gb 6+:oops:

I'm a Digital Hoarder! At least my collection doesn't weigh any more with the more I stuff into it.:(

OH! That doesn't include the literally THOUSANDS of screen shots, and pictures of stuff for the grocery, reminders, funny bumper stickers, Stupid Human Tricks I see, kid pics, etc...

And ebooks, a few videos...

Well, it does actually, but not so as you'd notice, unless you're an exceptionally pure Princess.

:D

I'm a 'He'. Always have been. I guess I'm not much of a 'princess'. Long story really short: No other username I could think of would work. I've thought of changing it, but I really went through almost a dozen, not realizing they were all so outrageously fantastic that they would already be used. So this one was desperation/frustration, and it's stuck.

I even had someone flirt with me a few years ago. This princess is packing...

But, on a physics basis, does memory increase in weight when things are written to it? Interesting question, but yeah, if there were a weight gain, the amount would be so far into the quantum mechanics realm, it would be worth talking about, short of a 'Huh. Really?' basis. I'd say no weight gain at all... Possibly a charge change over the entire chip, but no weight change. (Hey, give me a break. It's Thursday and I've been stuck cleaning all day)

You mean the new 5K Thunderbolt display? :D

What new 5k thunderbolt display?

Your a data hoarder. Have you seen the inside of a hoarders house full of junk? Thats what your phone is. Not trying to be offensive.

Oh, I know it isn't for everyone. I'm just arguing against the idea that 16gb is unusable for anyone. Buy the tool that works best for you.

The wives phone is 16gb and she is fine with it. I just feel that Apple as a company that clams to make the best devices and loves its customers should step up and give us a bonus for once. In other words quit being so damn cheap. We are paying a premium give us a premium device. Especially since you can't expand the storage.

But it limits potential significantly. Suppose you buy a 16gb iphone thinking you'll just facebook on it, but later on you discover it's got 4k video recording capability and want to use it, you are screwed. Or suppose you discover gaming on iOS which is extremely prolific, games can easily be 1-3gb each, you are screwed. Or suppose you think apple music will be just fine and you don't need more storage, but later you travel and want to have it offline. Having 32gb as default would ease many of these situations for a lot of people while costing only $5 more to manufacture.

After 9 years, one would think technology would progress and open new possibilities for the mainstream user. Being stuck at 16GB limits not just the iPhone, but also the iPad which I'd argue is probably the most affected here.

I know. I laugh... I hoard bikes, and apparently old computers. I once had a PDP-8I and a PDP11/34 with three RK-06 disk drives and a Printronix line printer in the basement, and a MicroVAX. I was bummed because I called a friend in Dec field service looking to borrow their Flexwriter to boot my 8, and she said that if I would have called a few days earlier, they would have given it to me. They sent it off for scrap! :(

If the iPhone SE is aimed at smaller, emerging markets where the iPhone straggles behind cheaper smartphones I can see why Apple *may* be releasing a 16GB variant.

There will be plenty of people out there who will be more than happy with such storage.

Personally it isn't for me (I prefer 64GB or more).

LOL thats funny.
[doublepost=1458248490][/doublepost]So a company worth a 100 billion can't throw in a extra $10+- 32gb vs 16gb chip. According to this source it cost an extra 17$ for the 64gb so I'm guessing the 32gb would be like 10$ more, its either greed or they are just getting cheap.

Um...

The girlfriend at the time was a little less than pleased...

But I did have a spectacular head crash on one of the RK-06 drives. It was AWESOME!!! Sounded like a washing machine in fast spin being dragged behind a truck at highway speed! :eek:o_O Chunks of head all over the place inside. Those heads were the size of large postage stamps too. It actually bent the end of the actuator arm the heads were attached to. Apparently those 'Archaic-Ohh-Six' drives were widely known to head crash, and one of mine coincidentally did.

The 'Owners Manual' for both DEC systems had wire-wrap diagrams from actual working blueprints, with corrections on them by hand! That was back in the 'romantic times' of computing... :) And sadly, long gone...:( (The then new wife 'misplaced' my box of PDP disk platters, head fragments, and punk rock memorabilia when we were moving)

Are they paying homage for an earlier time? I didn't mean to trash 16gb as hard as I apparently did. One would think that they WOULD up the minimum to something like the aforementioned 32gb for not other reason than the size of future OS installations. (How much does the OS take off the top now?)

I remember the old days when people would say that Windows 'x' would run on a 486 with 256M RAM, but that was only using Solitaire!

It is extremely easy to solve this problem:
1. Sell your current phone
2. Buy a new one (or used) with the capacity you need

After 9 years, one would think technology would progress and open new possibilities for the mainstream user. Being stuck at 16GB limits not just the iPhone, but also the iPad which I'd argue is probably the most affected here.

Again, you can buy 128Gb if you want it. Why are you looking at the cheapest options?

The only thing stopping you is money.

Me selling phone and getting new one sets me off $200 or so, Apple making 32gb default is $5, why is Apple greedy after 9 years of 16gb and the rest of the industry already at 32gb?

Consider it a learning experience and get the higher amount next time. I would actually say get 1 step above what you think you'll need just to make sure. The reason I have 16gb is because most people say it can't be used and I remember when 16gb was the base for everything.

Also, I remember when I had 64 and it was just too much space.

You are missing the point though, maybe 32gb was cost prohibitive in 2007 and it was justifiable for Apple to keep the same the pricing/storage structure for several years. But technology advances, costs go down exponentially, it's expected from companies to offer more as it's viable. It now costs $5 to make 32gb default. The rest of the industry already offers 32gb default, I'm arguing there is no reason other than greed for Apple not to offer 32gb default to improve the experience of mainstream users.

Okay? And my point is that you can scream at clouds or do something to improve your situation.
