Wait, you think it's unacceptable but you will buy it anyway because you are an "Apple" user? LOL. That's called fanboy my friend.

Call it fanboy or whatever you want. Although I haven't seen it defined that way; fanboy = buying something despite not liking all aspects of it. In fact I thought that's how everyone buys things. It certainly sounds more like a fanboy if there isn't one aspect of the product you don't like, but that's just me.

Fanboy or whatever aside, jumping to a different platform isn't that easy for various reasons I don't feel the need to elaborate here. Also, there are plenty of other features I like from Apple over the respectable competition.

I just happen to think its reasonable to expect Apple to up their base model in this day and age, regardless of how many 16gb models Apple sell. I also happen to think, despite its spectacular sales number, the storage size is its biggest weakness. Yes it can have a weakness and still sell like crazy. And yes people can complain about that, just in case you haven't noticed.

That's all.
Think it's silly complaining all you want.
I don't see this talk getting anywhere really.

It was pretty obvious they were going to go with 16 as the base.

What I'm pissed about is someone got a hold of the retail packaging and didn't bother to take a picture of the FRONT so we could confirm what the device will look like.
Tbh, the only reason for that is a controlled leak.
They want the crowd to put up with the thought that the base storage is gonna be 16GB. Will minimize the outcry once it is official.

Everybody who hates 16gb phones start pretending it doesn't exist and the iPhone is really 100$ more expensive. :|

UGGGGGGHHHHHH‼︎‼︎‼︎‼︎... Goodness... It does not matter what you think it should be or the "This day and age" comments... All of that is Useless and Irrelevant.

If they were to put a 32GB baseline storage,,, that would completely CANNIBALIZE the rest of the line. If you want them to do that, tell the Millions and Millions of people out there to stop making the 16GB a COMPETE SUCCESS‼︎! They are not incentivized on changing the Minimum Storage and,,, it would be Business Suicide. They put that out,,, hardly anyone purchases anything else. It cost's them a quarter to raise the storage and costs you 100 bucks. Great profit margin and great business. People on this site make up 1 percent of 1 percent of the total sales... You wanting it to happen absolutely does not matter. You call it greed,,, that is laughable... They are a business fools.. They are not stealing from you,,,, You don't like it,, don't buy it. You are all acting like there is no other offering..

I need a new phone soooooo badly. I was given a refurb 5 by apple after the previous battery swelled, and it's got hardware error issues, and I was HOPING to replace it with an unlocked 5SE but 16GB? Please say there's more than that!

What grinds my gears is Apple is charging a $100 to upgrade when they could make the base model 32gb and it would cost them next to nothing. Most of us who still want higher capacity would still pay for it. So people who don't want to pay anything extra get a device with very limited storage its just BS.

No, they go for 16 and 64 because it will force a lot of people to go for the higher one - 16GB is just too low for most use cases. Once they go for 32, it would be manageable for the vast majority which will lead to less upselling.

16GB in 2016 goodness me this will be a shameful low if it's true Apple!

Yes! 16GB, for shame Apple!

When, in the course of iPhone upgrades, it becomes necessary to eschew the entry-level offering in the pursuit of life, liberty and sufficient memory; we hold this truth to be self-evident that 16 GB is an affront to human dignity. All men, women, and others, are endowed by their Creator or FSM with certain inalienable rights to access their entire iTunes library when disconnected from the Cloud, or display their library of cat pictures at whim. Those who refuse us essential memory in the pursuit of gross margin deserve neither commerce nor customer loyalty. I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much memory than to those attending too small a degree of it. Give me memory, or give me death!

THIS WILL NOT STAND*!

*, man.

Not as inexcusable as the upcoming 8GB iPhone 5s.

That's upright abuse.

Dear Goddess, your soul is worth more than all the riches in the universe. The entertainment industry is full of people that have sold their soul, they get some fleeting enjoyment for a few years, and then they are ****ed for many life times. Take care of your soul, it's all you have.

Nah...

I'm an American. Is has been sold for me to people who couldn't give less of a *DING* for it...

The 16GB model is mainly there so the "starting at" price is $100 lower than it would be otherwise.

But the 16G is a 'nonstarter', as it's not really good for much. It's 'a phone', but I'd bet trying to update it with anything else on it is tedious at best...

Well, I agree with you that 16GB is too low, but I think you're over-egging the pudding a bit.

Whilst it's annoying that Apple are penny-pinching unnecessarily, it's not the end of the world. We'll live.

This will be interesting to watch. I would normally instantly side with you in a 6s/7 type device. IMO, there is at least a 30% iPhone market share for this new 4" device within 15m.
It's hard to get a feel on this one for me. I think it could potentially sell very well at 16, 64, 128. I like the look of it, and it will please all the 4s, 5c, 5s users tremendously. How many of those users currenty need more than 64g will be the real question. Apple seems to think they know. IMO, this will be a larger story in 2016 than the 7 (loosing the 3.5 excluded.) :apple:

Honestly, a microSD card slot and have it just automatically integrate seamlessly into the memory when you add a card would be a great idea. Of course that does mean fewer phone upgrades.

the ******** thing will be if apple makes the upcoming iPad "pro" start at 16gb. if they really want to sell the idea that "this could replace a laptop" why does it have a storage capacity that starts WAAAAAAAAY below any laptop (outside chromebooks)

Could just be an optical issue or the paper bending in a weird way, but it's odd that the pill shape doesn't bend along the same curve as the text below it. Makes me a bit suspicious.

If you cut corners and buy a phone with just 8GB internal storage, then you should really have expected to run into capacity issues sooner or later.

I guess I never paid much attention to how much more data apps and photos and the OS use now than they did when I had an 8gb iphone 3g LOL

I'm using a 16gb right now, and it's perfectly fine.

Apple is a poor, struggling company.

i've been a shareholder since 2000...I'm as long aapl as you can be, but If you think Apple is performing well right now (when it has a p/e ratio more like a coal miner on its way out of business than any other silicon valley company) then you must be a thoroughly entranced fanboy. Sorry, the status quo is not cutting it for apple. Their policy of squeezing extra revenue from everything and underspending on r&d IS NOT increasing shareholder value as much as actually innovating would. They are being irritating pragmatists when the market would reward them for being risky dreamers (again)
