My parents still sport their 8gb iphone 5c, so sometimes we just need to be thankful for the little things.

I'm not going to thank Apple for 16 GB. I've *thanked them* enough with all my money over all these years. Stop being greedy and if the customers mean so much to you, give us 32 GB. If you still want 16 GB, maybe Tim makes a few for you guys.

Everyone is well aware that there are options. The thing is that options from other companies are starting to look much better than the Apple options
Correct! I don't get the complaining by people who still buy the iPhone anyway. I mean there are options. THe fact people still buys iPhone means the pricing is right for the market, and Apple will continue their business.

For those who are complaining:
I bought 128GB model 6S plus, but for most of my other iPhones, I always selected 16GB. It was very enough for my needs as I don't install huge games and don't shoot video, but if I wanted, 16GB would be enough for some big apps and some video. But if you want more storage, buy 64GB and higher size options.

You don't have to buy 16GB and no one forces you to buy it.
16GB is actually a good option for developing countries, young users and business users.
So no reasons to complain

A base model 32gb is an equally, if not better, option for developing countries and young users. So, it's just Apple seeking more profit nothing else, despite looking ridiculous in 2016. And how can you assume people in developing countries and young users don't take lots of pictures and videos.

You might have a point with business users. But clearly, it's not the business users that are complaining, plus in most cases they don't even pay for it. I highly doubt Apple decided on 16gb just because of business users.

Let's be honest. Most small phone lovers who were "forced" to buy an iPhone 6 sized screen ended up being pleasantly surprised that all the worries of "un-pocketable!" and "My thumbs are too short!" turned out to be FUD. And the larger screen turned out to be a benefit with minimal "pocket" loss.

No offense to anyone, but considering that the existence of a "legacy" screen size is to please the "users who don't want to spend" or the stubborn people who refuse to upgrade then it kinda makes sense to keep specs low. These people are more obsessed with keeping screens small than making them more usable or packing lots of storage. And so 16GB will be just fine for them.

16GB in 2016 goodness me this will be a shameful low if it's true Apple!

I can understand complaints about the amount of RAM but can't understand the complaints on the starting storage size. You can't increase the amount of RAM but, If you need more storage, just spend more money and buy the iPhone with the storage you need.

Does this mean we'll have to wait to the year 2032 to get a 32GB base model?
Nah, we just need the same people that are complaining to stop buying iPhones. Thing is, they still did, thus validating Apple's pricing strategy.

They should sell 16 GB phones only to you. For the rest of us, we'd prefer 32 GB as the base, as it should be.
Haha, what? Why would I want 16GB? I bought 64GB 6S. But for some reason Apple only sells 16GB models where you are, so I guess it sucks huh.

16GB – wow that will never get filled in one lifetime – Thank you Apple!

I think the 16GB is there for following reasons:
- phones issued by employers for following reasons: email, sms, phone, two custom specific apps, geotracking
- 1st PHONE to a kid (if Apple wants to be in that game)
- basic phone for a person who just wants to facetime with their family IE elderly family member
- people who don't know what they are doing and getting small storage and 30 days after are kicking themselves in the aR$3 and buy a larger model.

So I see SOME point to having a 16GB baseline phone if it's the bottom of the line tier. Don't sell a 6+ or 6S+ in 16GB.

Now really, they could just get rid of it and have 32GB be a standard at a loll of $16 per phone.

16GB actually does not really bother me in my phone as I only keep essential stuff in it. That said I will get a larger one next time. What I would rather see is 256GB base for MacBooks.

I would SELL MY SOUL for a 256G, or 512G, iPhone 7+ Seriously...

Dear Goddess, your soul is worth more than all the riches in the universe. The entertainment industry is full of people that have sold their soul, they get some fleeting enjoyment for a few years, and then they are ****ed for many life times. Take care of your soul, it's all you have.

Wondering if it is remaining 16GB so they can justify only 5GB iCloud free storage. This should at least be doubled, considering the price paid for premium products.

i've had a 6 for almost a year and a half. i'd still prefer a 4" option. i never felt constrained on even the 3.5" screen. i'm fine with people who prefer big screened devices. i wonder why, if your needs are met, you need to hurl so many insults at people who have a different preference than you? i wonder what that says, if we're being honest...

No it just means that the price is right for some people. I would have bought a lot more iPhones if the price was a little more affordable. That's why the $400-$500 price tag is the most exciting rumor about the iPhone SE. But we got screwed before with the iPhone 5C, which didn't stand for cheap.

Here is some honesty for you. I need a phone that I don't have to remove from my pocket to sit down. The 5s barely fits that criteria. I tried the 6, and again the 6s. Stuck with the 5s because of the size. The bigger screen is of no benefit if it is too bulky to actually carry with me.

What's wrong with that strategy? You still bought the iPhone, right? So for you, the price is appropriate. ;) If you thought it didn't, you wouldn't have bought it.

And what's wrong with the OP saying he'd desire a 64GB capacity option?

If the price isn't right for you, there are plenty of options today. Even a mid range Android phone is well built nowadays.

Plus if the pricing structure isn't right for the market, iPhone sales would drop like a brick. But since so many people are still buying iPhones, that means Apple's pricing strategy fits he market.

Simple economics.

And what makes you think Apple won't offer higher capacity option? All the complaints here made it seems like Apple only sells a 16GB iPhone.

The average user of the iPhone, texts, selfies, social media, tunes, about it. Unless their phone fails in an expensive way, not much need to upgrade. Add the new in your face payment options, competition, iPhones life will move closer to 3 years of use. My phone was the center of the world, now not so much. Apple will continue to do well, just not as well.

I bet the cost saving factor on going 16GB this year would mean that Apple will be selling these iPhone SE for $399 or even less. Thanks Apple! /s

It's not that they *only* sell 16 GB models, which is not true. It's that they *do* sell 16 GB models, which is totally true. There is no reason for 16 GB other than greed. If you only want to use 8 GB of the 16 GB, great. But the argument that 16 GB is enough for most people and that if you don't like it, just pay more, is not a great argument at all.
