Not my mom. She took a lot of photos and I am the one who has to clean it. So 16GB is a pain for me.

Ouch! I'm sorry for your pain.

Karma, perhaps? For not helping your mother choose the proper memory option? Next time, try and be a better son/daughter and give her the help she deserves. Helping by giving a little back for all the years she helped you growing up will make you both smile.

Did anyone expect that the lower end device would start with more GB storage than the high end (6S)??
It's called progress, look it up. Sooner or later they have to increase base storage, because no one will make those tiny 16GB flash chips anymore.

Ok so you expected them to upgrade the base model for a low end device and keep the same one for the high end? Or did you expect them to upgrade both? In which case do you realize what kind of an uproar would that cause for those who bought an 16gb 6S or 6S Plus recently?

Think

Sure they will. Any company would love to have and kill for Apple's enormous business. If Apple needed 4GB flash chips there would be loads of venders in line trying to snag that contract.

Moms and more memory only means more pictures to download in the same timeframe

Look at the Apple website. The 13" MacBook Pro has a base storage of 128GB, while the newer 12" MacBook starts with 256GB minimum. Do you know what kind of uproar this caused? None.

That is not the same because those two arent flagship and low end but different category of devices. They also start at the same prices which in the iphone case would not be true. An comparable analogy would be if the refreshed 13 inch pro started with more storage than the 15 pro. Do you think that would go well?

Again, think.

Of course it will have 16GB since their top price smartphone starts with a 16GB configuration at an higher price
I expect the new iPhone to have Apple Pay, it would be no sense to release a new product without supporting it.

Reportedly Apple stopped selling the iPod Classic only because it couldn't source the parts anymore. It's not as if Apple would pay manufacturers a premium for further on producing outdated tech.

Jeez, I'm not selecting computing platforms based on price. Ended up with Windows once.

! NEVER AGAIN !
No they just don't skyrocket like they would if even stingy people like me would send a couple hundred dollars in Apples direction.
No it doesn't. A strategy fits a market when there is no way other way to make even more money and that I don't believe. There is no reason for high-end Samsung smartphones even to exist. Apple could own the whole cake and make 100% of the profits.
No the complains are about that the small base configuration makes the one you want and may end up buying another $100 more expensive.
Okay, so you now sayid that you value other things than price alone.

Last time I checked, Apple commands about 96% of the profit of mobile handsets. So clearly their strategy worked compared other OEMs. 100% is impossible as that means Apple is a monopoly, and reality said otherwise.

Wait, so what's the complaints you said? You want more GB for the money? Good news, there are products for you out there. Nexus 5X, Moto X, and many more. Much cheaper per GB. Competition is great. Buy what you want.

Many of you should better communicate what you really want. It isn't the fact that you can't get more then 16GB of storage space in an iPhone, because you can, you just want more space for the same price as 16GB...

LOL, what? No reason? If that's assumption is correct, then sales of iPhone should drop because hey, nobody would want to pay that much for iPhone right? But guess what, Apple is still selling iPhone by the boatload.

Moral of the story, buy what you want. If a company doesn't offer their product at a price you want, what the eff are you doing by paying for it anyway? I don't understand. So many great alternatives out there.

This. Vote with your wallet or don't complain.

No, moral of the story is people buying 16gb iPhones "despite" being less than a desired storage size not because they "prefer" 16gb. Many will buy and rave (reviewers) the new Samsung S7 edge. That doesn't mean people/critics are happy with touch wiz. Nor does it mean people can't voice their concerns for improvement. And the only way to voice their concern is not buying it.

When in the year 2016 literally every other company is offering a higher base model and has been doing so for a while, expecting the same for Apple isn't "greed" nor is the fact that it sells a boat load justify it.

And it is pretty much a fact that the only real reason Apple has been offering 16g base models is profit (their profits are heads and shoulders above everyone else out there already).

Why defend that?
Well, if you're an Apple employee or Tim Cook, I could see why...:apple:

Moral of the story is be the company you keep on telling the press and customers you are. One that cares about its customers. We get 1 GB of storage for every year this century! So maybe by 2032, Apple will finally give in. The moral of the story is that greed is more powerful than customer satisfaction.
Yeah, Apple customers are so not satisfied that they keep ranking Apple high in satisfaction. I am confused.

Dude, in the end it's your money. Buy what you want. It's stupid if you keep paying on things that you don't want.

That is not the same because those two arent flagship and low end but different category of devices.
You do realize that Apple never named one of its products as flagship? This is merely tech press terminology.

Yes I do.

What? LOL. Why the eff in the world would you buy things that you don't want, Apple or Samsung.

And yes, if other OEMs offer the price per GB that you want, perfect. That means you can say eff u to Apple and support the company that meets your needs, great for you.

Defend? Defending what? I'm not the one that complain about Apple and yet keep buying iphones. That stupid. If I didn't like Apple's pricing, I take my business elsewhere.

With the advent of the iPhone and others, very few people were buying "classic" iPods. Not enough volume for Apple to entice vendors to keep certain chips going. And certainly not enough volume for Apple to keep going as a product. Compared to >250 million iPhone 6 units last year.

Many of you should better communicate what you really want. It isn't the fact that you can't get more then 16GB of storage space in an iPhone, because you can, you just want more space for the same price as 16GB...
That makes more sense, and guess what, Samsung, Google, Motorola, etc do provide phones with more GB per dollar. It's stupid to keep buying iPhones as if it's the only phone available on the market. If that's, the case, then I feel sorry for those who live in places where Apple iPhones are the only smartphones available.

I can see why the SE has a 16GB model but they better bump up the 7 to at least 32.

Best thing would be if everyone pre-ordered a 16 gig at launch, used it for 12 days and then took it back to swap for a 64/128 and complain loud and clear the 16 is too small. Let Apple try to unload a boatload of 16 gig refurbs.

my wife has an 8gb iphone 5C...what a pain in the butt that thing is we are constantly having to try to find things to delete. Who knew Facebook, snapchat and instagram all end up taking like 500 megatbyes of space somehow on the phone and you only start with around 4.7gb free after the OS is installed. What an abomination that thing is and its only maybe 2 years old. They should never have been selling 8gb 5Cs
Buyer beware, They did make a 32GB 5C;)

Last time I checked, Apple commands about 96% of the profit of mobile handsets. So clearly their strategy worked compared other OEMs.
That's why I don't compare them to other OEMs. I compare them to privious and next years Apple. And when I feel fancy I compare them to fantasy rumor Apple. Wishful Thinking etc.
100% is impossible as that means Apple is a monopoly, and reality said otherwise.
Even more than 100% is possible, if the others make losses one company can make more profit than the market as a whole. But I don't care so much about their market share, but how big the market could possibly become? Before Apple entered the so-called smartphone market it was a lot smaller. Not only did the iPhone conquer the whole market, it expanded the market as well. Use your fantasy, how big can the smartphone market still become? You probably can't sell more devices than there are people on earth. But you can sell more of the really expensive iPhones. Once they aren't too damn slow after just two years, you could be using them for 5 or 10 years, which makes the high initial investment much more plausible.
Wait, so what's the complaints you said? You want more GB for the money? Good news, there are products for you out there. Nexus 5X, Moto X, and many more. Much cheaper per GB. Competition is great. Buy what you want.
I already told you, I will never touch an Android phone. And I will buy what I want, once it shows up in the Apple lineup. Next candidate for evaluation, iPhone SE.

Live photos and no 3D Touch, seems odd. The best part of Live Photos (for me) is the 3D touch integration with a Live Photo on the lock screen. Looking forward to Monday.

Yeah, that doesn't make sense to me. All it is saying is it will support taking them, but you'll never be able to see the benefit unless you text them to a friend on a 6s...

You do realize that Apple never named one of its products as flagship? This is merely tech press terminology.
Yes I do.

Ok then we just have to agree to disagree. I just cant image how someone would find it a good idea for apple to introduce the 5se with more base model storage than with the 6S.

Ok so you expected them to upgrade the base model for a low end device and keep the same one for the high end?

This happens to car industry all the time. New tech/features/designs/upgrades are sometimes introduced on lower-end models before flagships get them. So, it wouldn't be strange if Apple introduced new features to SE first instead of iPhone 7.
