I'm surprised by how they're under-selling these. Not only are they not on the front page of apple.com, they're not even on the front page of the accessories page.

It’s a good thing there are a lot of choices. I’m the exact opposite. AirPods don’t move at all in my ears no matter how much I shake my head while the predecessor to these Beats headphones hurt my ears because of that rounded plastic behind the earpiece. I can wear AirPods all day without noticing they’re in my ears, but the Beats will hurt inside of an hour.
My mother-in-law naturally has a missing lower part of her ear that normally holds in the AirPods, which makes any kind of in ear headphone unusable. She can only use over ear headphones. I also know some people where one AirPod won’t move at all while the other won’t stay in.
True. And they are selling very well right now. Or they have low stock. Delivery dates are slipping fast.
Apple should refund you. That’s called stealing. And they should be very clear as to whether paying the 8 bucks gets you guaranteed launch date. Either way, early preorders should have been delivered for launch date without an expedited upcharge. Apple hasn’t handled this preorder very well.
I emailed comply a few weeks ago and asked if they knew what tips would fit. They said they’d have to wait to get a pair to test fit and make sure the charging case was compatible with their tip sizes

Thanks for throwing out some obvious reasons why people buy Beats headphones. I just think there are better cheaper options out there... I appreciate your opinion/insight though.

I ordered right when the orders opened, and it was very clear that the expedited delivery would not deliver on launch day, and that expedited delivery was only getting you 1 day earlier. I don't think it was 'stealing'.
I suspect just like the Home Pod these will tank also.

I really think people are over-reacting to the launch day thing. There's probably a good chance that 13/14 to 20/21 will actually end up on arriving on launch day for most people.

In my experience not all “sealed” earphones block all (or even nearly all) ambient sound. They could allow enough in for me to feel comfortable.
Me too. I always hear people complain about the AirPods and how they fall out or are uncomfortable. For me though I could wear them all day in comfort and go running with them without losing them.
If the reason’s were oblivious then you shouldn’t of started off with “Not sure...”

They were VERY clear. I saw the Powerbeats Pro on sale within 5 seconds of when it went up on the Apple.com store and it clearly said:

I have AirPods but I got these too. Even though AirPods stay in place during weights and cardio, my original pair went faulty due to no water resistant.

I just smeared a thick layer of liquid latex in my ear canal, wait for it to dry up, and now aIRpoDs fit in my ear now. And the AirPods still fit in its case! Win-win!

I know people get the Comply Foam tips for increased comfort and sound isolation, but I was wondering if there were any tips that actually allowed MORE ambient noise to enter over the stock tips?
My post was largely sarcasm. I guess the internet is not good at that. My larger point is that these are being released on 5/10 in the stores and like virtually EVERY apple product launch I have ever seen, preorders should be delivered on launch day. I too ordered within 5 seconds so either (a) preorders WILL still be delivered on launch day or (b) they will not. If it's (a), then yes, charging someone $8 for expedited delivery was stealing since the rest of us will get them on the same day. If it's (b), then in my opinion, Apple botched the preorder since it appears to be shipping these later than the in store launch which is highly unusual.
They will sell so many of these. Though some people will buy them just to get hands free without having little white tooth picks sticking out of their ears.
Unfortunately, if these are like the old power beats, they do not have an adjustable hook. So at least for me they don’t sit all that well. Sad, but I’m not part of the one size fits all category of folks, so this is just what I have to deal with.

Darn I was hoping pre-orders would arrive earlier than May 10. My family member that needs this will be flying out of the country May 7 (he's lost at least two sets of AirPods, plus others like the Jabra's, since they keep falling out).
I was 3 hours late placing the pre-order though (had morning meetings). So my ETA is May 28 - Jun 4 expedited.
Then again it looks like earlier pre-orders still won't arrive till second half of May, so still would arrive too late in my case.
Curious, will any store actually stock these on May 10? My local Apple & BB stored seem to suggest inventory weeks away...
