Buying my wife a 16E next week to lock-in iOS 18. Hard NO to 26 in this household.
I'm not buying for a few reasons, but a big one is that it will come with iOS 26.

RIP your 16e?!No plans to upgrade my 16 Pro, it’s possibly my favourite iPhone of all time ❤️
Never say never though 😃🤣
The year-over-year improvements slowed after the 12, so I only upgrade out of necessity. Getting my wife a 16E next week because the battery on her 12 is shot, and she recently dropped it and cracked the screen. Will only get a new phone if I need one, not just because a new one comes out. So if I need one, I'll check the new offerings, including the 16e, and see what works best. Definitely not a giant Pro Max.
The are no such rumors for the regular 17, I believe. To the contrary, the screen will increase from 6.1" to 6.3", likely making it a bit heavier. If you want better battery life and lighter weight, the 16e or the 17e would offer that, saving even more money (at the cost of a single camera and no MagSafe).I’ll probably go for the regular iPhone 17. I don’t really need all the Pro features, and if the rumors about better battery life and a lighter design are true, that’s enough for me. The Pro models are tempting, but I’d rather save the extra money unless there’s a must-have feature.
I hear you. O2 is beyond dreadful – it's borderline criminal. I switched back to EE before my O2 contract ended, and woke up from the nightmare.Only upgrade ever 2 years but will be glad to ditch o2 in the UK. Service has been dreadful.
I'm waiting on a fold next year. My 12 Pro is still holding up well (it has a replaced battery), and besides I've had to buy three new Macs (a Studio, a Mini, and an Air) this year, mostly out of schedule.
You must have gotten lucky with the 14 Pro's battery - when I had one it was awful. The 15 Pro was worse but the 14 Pro for me was is the 80s% a year laterAs long as my 14 Pro Max continues to function, receive updates, and has good battery life I have no need to get a new phone. Nothing Apple has done post-iPhone 14 has moved the needle for me to want a new device anyway.
