Man I got on the Apple Store, hit refresh about 10x, and the store was lightning fast. Got an error verifying my account, had to restart, and everything was painfully slow. We're good now, though!
I got that too when I tried to add a new line for my girlfriend. I'm not too worried.
What an experience. Couldn't get the store to come up on my laptop, so thanks to those here who said use the Apple store app. I had to go and get my iPad, and download the app. Then it said there was an error processing my request, and I clicked on the "go to full site" link at the bottom of the page on the app. And then I redid everything through the Safari browser on my iPad and was done in like 2 minutes. Confirmation email received.

same here. You think I can change it back as soon as tomorrow? Or should I wait until it is actually shipped?
man its crazy when you think about it. i bet theres already been about 50,000 preorders for the iphone 5 and it hasnt even been an hour. probably more actually
nope. random #'s. someone used this info last year to track sales quantity and apple changed it up for the ipad launch.
I had both Apple and AT&T open in both browsers as well, but it was a no go. Apple store app came through though. My brother was still trying to refresh the sites. I told him to download the app. He successfully downloaded and preordered in minutes.

Had my laptop open in ff and ie, and my ipad open on the apple store app...at 11:59 the app store on ipad was working and everything was ordered in about 10-15 seconds!! Email conf. shows 12:00am! Have been checking my pc on app store in both browsers and nothing, so glad the ipad worked!

I just ordered a 64 GB black iPhone 5 from Apple, using a regular laptop browser, not the app.

I'm assuming so. I checked during check out the plan details and mine still said Data Plan: Unlimited.
I looked again before I tapped place order and screenshot it just in case Verizon changes it next week.
Me too from verizon and apple but I received my verizon confirmation email but not the apple one??
