been trying all day.

I was able to pre-order for my husband, who is not on our family plan, but not for the rest of us, who are. We are all eligible for the subsidized price.

Has ANYONE who IS on a family plan gotten to preorder? And if so, for both phones, the primary, or a non-primary?

negative. i have two phones on the family plan and no luck so far. always an error. i think its on the ATT side.

Ok - So -

Does anyone else not have the option to choose a text messaging plan at the Rate page? Is this "normal". I've been counting - and I'm up to 437 tries.

So frustrated.

Been trying for hours to upgrade my existing 3G. Tried to go through the process with the main - and not main lines on my family plan. No luck on either, past the Rate Plan Screen of Death.

What gives?

best,
Lewis

Confirmed with Apple that the 3GS cannot be ordered online if you have a Family Plan or FAN or anything other than an individual plan. However, preregistration can be done and then phone is to be picked up in store. Rep is checking to see if it is a guaranteed hold for the day or not.

Apparently their internal systems are down so no AT&T or Apple rep can process orders. Seems like they should have expected this issue - sound familiar in June of 2007 or 2008 a la Activation?

what do you mean "preregistration"

This seems like the best place to ask. (And It did'nt seem worth a thread)

First time getting a cellphone :O

So obviously I never have had a cell phone with at&t. (But our home phone is at&t...)

So anywayz: Would this mean if I order it from Apple's site (16GB 3GS) it will cost 199? Looked at the plans and if I get it I'll probally go for the 69.99 plan (And unlimited texting)

So it wont be any higher? 199 for phone and 90 for the plans?

just wondering. Got confused as to what my price would be.

Thanks to anyone who answers.

so these reservations are not guaranteed? What was the point of me doing it then?
Correct the fine print on the Apple site states:

Pre-authorization does not guarantee iPhone availability at an Apple Retail Store. iPhone is sold on a first-come, first-served basis.

So if they run out then you don't get one, sorry. They will have a very large stock in the Apple stores but just like last year, they will run out on a daily basis and have to be restocked.

I just got my order in about 20 minutes ago. However, now when checking my email, I have 5 email confirmations from Concierge@apple.com from my earlier order attempts that were giving me an error. I would get the error before getting to the screen where you choose the model and select shipping/in-store pickup.

Anybody else have multiple emails from unsuccessful order attempts? Funny thing is I don't yet have a confirmation from the order that was successfully submitted.

p.s. I am ordering as a new customer and am transferring my number from Verizon

Apparently preordering delivers it via FedEx on June 19th. Preregistering gets you a phone reserved in an AT&T or Apple store of your choice for the day. Am still waiting for rep to find out whether or not it is "first come first serve" or if you reserve a phone, it will wait for you all day.

But somebody just posted they were able to pre-order with both a family plan and a FAN (whatever that is). And I now believe somebody's posted they were able to upgrade two family plan lines (perhaps not here).

So what's the real story? Is it possible or is it not possible?

How do you preregister online though? I wanted to pick mine up on the 19th at a store anyways. That is if I'm guaranteed to get one. However, I have Family Plan and a FAN.

I was able to order one this afternoon.. I have a family plan and a premier discount (18%)..it was around 1pm Pacific.. I had to retry a few times.. but my order shows up fine on order status

ATT confirmed.

After 12 minutes on the phone, the price is $399 (16gb) and $499 (32gb) for early upgrading. There is also an $18 fee.

If you want to buy the phone w/out a contract renewal...they are $599 and $699.

ATT stores will open at 7am on the 19th for preordered customers.

I dont know what to say but I feel bad for those of you who are still trying, though there's a disclaimer that says that iphones are sold on a first come first served basis, so this 'reservation' could end up being pointless. Im still lining up in the early hours of the morning prior to launch.

It says right on their press release.

All preorders will be processed on a "first come, first served" basis beginning June 19.

If I can't get it resolved by the time I go to bed I'll probably just drop in the AT&T store in the morning and find out how many pre-orders they already have. I know my local AT&T store will only get a small number of phones. Ugh.

You're sure? Even though I'm supposed to pick mine up at an Apple store?

So what am I to do...wait in front of an ATT store or Apple store prior to launch?

do you have unlimited texting? i think thats the problem - ATT is throwing an error.

What's the point of pre-registering then? That makes no sense. You're reserving it, but you might not get it. When is apple gonna get this process down? This is ridiculous.

Can you pre-order over the phone with AT&T?

I think Pre-authorization is different than pre-ordering. I could be wrong.

Just pre ordered mine on the site. 32GB Black version. Arrives on launch day with free shipping.

I've tried Apple.com about a thousand times and I'm pissed off. My 2G iPhone is on its last breath. Does anyone know when att will start taking preorders online?
