The fact that the
I am hopping my MBP is on this flight. I know that the Fedex Distribution center is in Memphis. We will see in another 10 or so hours. Sadly there is only one flight per day between Shanghai and Memphis.

The fact that there is even a direct flight from Shanghai to Memphis is surprising in of itself. Usually, flights from Shanghai stop over at Anchorage to refuel. That is one long flight!

I just don't understand where my laptop is right now. Is it still in Shanghai, is it en route to Anchorage or Louisville? Where is it?
Config: 13" i5/16 GB RAM/256 GB SSD
Final destination: CA, USA
Ordered placed: 7/17/18, standard shipping

It’s either on a plane out of Shangai (most likely to Anchorage, but could be Japan or Korea), or sitting in the warehouse/tarmac waiting to be loaded on said plane.

So I called Apple about my MBP 15/i9/32GB/1TB/560X order that I placed on July 12 since it still shows as processing. I was mainly concerned that there was a billing issue or something else keeping it from moving (my credit card likes to trigger the fraud protection frequently).

The rep seemed surprised it hadn’t shipped yet, but I was told there were no problems with the order. I was also told that the configuration I ordered would be shipping from the United States and not China. I specifically asked if it was coming from China and she said it’s coming from a warehouse in the United States. She also said there’s still plenty of time for it to ship. Even if it were shipping on the July 26 it would still make the July 27 deadline.

I asked if it were being delayed due to it being a friends and family employee purchase and she said no. She also said it didn’t count as a custom configuration. Even though it’s not a standard configuration on the store site I’m thinking that it’s a common enough configuration that they are stocking it.

I’ll definitely keep an eye on the order for updates and I’ll call back if the end of the week has come and it hasn’t shipped yet. And, I’ll be calling my credit card to forewarn them of this upcoming charge so it doesn’t get declined and auto-delayed by Apple.

They sell that model in store is probably why not custom. Was not listed on the website, but local stores have plenty of those models.

Interesting. I paid using paypal as I wanted to use debit card rather than credit card (UK) and there has been a pending transaction on my paypal activity list since the 16th. This has just disappeared. Hopefully this is a good sign... fingers crossed!

No it's just authorization. It expires after 7 days :)

Oh dear, does that mean problems when they come to process it?

Not necessarily. Apple usually does this to make sure that your account has sufficient funds to process the full amount. If it clears, then the actual amount should clear soon afterward and your laptop should be shipped after that.

No they will just capture the charge when they ship it. Usually they just authorize the charge when you place order to make sure you have enough funds.

Don't worry mine is also still processing. However my Apple Care status changed to complete. So lets see ;)

I ordered on the 14th ... Order is still processing. Probably delayed due to the i9 processor... anyone else in the same boat?

Not the same config, but stuck in transporting hell.

I think I am a little ahead than you, but then again, I ordered my laptop a full day ahead of you. Here is my status. My laptop has also been sitting in Shanghai, since the 21st! Kinda pissed, but hey, my delivery date still hasn't passed, so I shouldn't be so pissed. I just want it so badly. My 1st MBP!
Ordered: 7/17
Config: 13" 2.3 Ghz i5/16 GB RAM/256 GB SSD
ETA: 7/26 (UPS), 7/27 (Apple)

Hopefully you guys get your laptops soon, the wait can be excruciating at times.

Just an update on my situation, because I'm flying to Brisbane on the 31st I've opted to return for a refund and I'll buy the same configuration when I'm there. They couldn't guarantee that I'd get a replacement by the 30th July.

I had a quick look and it appears I can get the 13/i7 quad/16/1tb ssd pickup in store same day, so it looks like that must be a popular configuration option. It's a shame we don't have apple stores in New Zealand, as I might've been able to get a replacement in store, oh well.

Apple were more than accommodating, that's the one thing I like about them is their after sales service is always top notch.

On Friday, I called DHL and asked them to ship it to my office address, since I won't be at home tomorrow. Now it still shows the old address on the "change delivery" website - is this normal or did they screw up the address change?

Mine just changed to Preparing to Ship.

Looks like they are sending these in a batch as they complete orders for each country.
