These are the results from Geekbench and Cinebench on my new MBP. I also tried running Blackmagic's disk speed test, but it wouldn't open when I launched it from the Mac App Store. Weird.
Config: Macbook Pro 13"
  • Core i5 8259U - 2.3 Ghz
  • 16 GB LPDDR3 RAM

These are the huge performances I see when I have upgraded from my 4 year old Thinkpad to the 13-in MBP. Crazy numbers frankly. Gonna be great!

PS: The percentages are in reference to the E440 (my old machine)

Departure scan finally :)
Considering the timing and using flightaware.com , it seems like there is only one flight that goes from Shanghai to Paris today (considering it would be a direct flight) and it will arrive this afternoon in Paris.
So I'll see if anything gets updated tonight ! I believe I can reasonably hope for a delivery the 1st instead of the 2nd as UPS scheduled so far :)

Looks like ours are on the same flight! Mine is scheduled for delivery on the 1st, so would have thought yours would too.

Not sure how UPS operates, but it seems like I was completely wrong regarding where my Mac was going...

I know earth isn't flat, but... Louisville seems to me like a detour if you are heading to Western Europe from China :)

That’s so strange, I thought yours would’ve took a similar route to mine, which was:

Shanghai > Korea > Khazakstan > Germany > UK

Yep.. very.. I checked, my address is correctly set to France. I recall my last order (in 2015) went through this country more or less (and for sure not via US)

Mine has also gone via Louisville... does seem an odd way to get to Scotland lol
Waiting to see if @barnesy99 's Mac, who had a similar tracking so far and is going to UK, also lands in the US ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Do you still have your tracking to see how it went after Louisville ?

Mine is currently in Louisville, will hopefully see where it goes soon :)

Yep, mine is also in Louisville.

This seems to be the next Europe bound flight from Louisville. Unless they decide to put them on some other detour in the US

Oops... maybe not thats Manchester-Boston :oops:

Just occurred to me while checking previous UPS tracking like this one
Stopping by US adds one more "custom agency clearance" step.

Definitely strange to add such a useless delay.

Finally made the switch from silent reader for years to registered user!

My MacBook has - with the same flight like yours - arrived in Louisville.
I am also a bit confused as I thought it would take the Shanghai -> Korea -> Khazakstan -> Germany route.

In my opinion (and regarding the UPS Air Hubs in the US and Europe) there are now the following two options:
  1. Louisville, KY -> Philadelphia, PA -> Cologne, Germany -> Following destinations in Europe
  2. Louisville, KY -> Cologne, Germany -> Following destinations in Europe
All other Air Hubs in the US would be an additional detour.
But I am not able to find any matching flights..

The Apple supply chain / logistics are pretty amazing.

Ordered a BTO on Wednesday (13" i5, 16gb, 512gb) at 7:00pm CDT and the computer is on a delivery truck on Sunday afternoon at 5:30pm for delivery tomorrow morning in Kansas City. Took a non-stop flight from Shanghai to Memphis on Saturday (13hr flight) and then a 1hr flight from Memphis to KC on Sunday.

Incredible how fast this stuff moves. Less than 96hrs to custom build a PC in China and get it to Kansas.

Did pay the extra $8 for expedited shipping. Wow. Impressive. Thank you Apple and FedEx.

My guess is that this will be the flight for those of us in Europe who have parcels in Louisville atm

Yep seems about right !
And there is a flight from Cologne to Paris every two days around 3h45 CEST ! Next should be tomorrow but the flight from Louisville won't be there yet. So not sure what to expect...

I also found one Fedex between Paris and London but without any scheduled flights for tomorrow. And nothing from Cologne to London.

EDIT:
A video I found while looking up UPS flights :
Not sure this would work in Europe, but for people in US it may be useful :)

Well I guess I should have paid for expedited shipping! I ordered a 13 inch with the i5, 16gb of ram, and the 512gb ssd. I think this is the sweet spot this year.

I ordered on the 21st and the delivery date went from August 3rd to the 2nd and now to the 7th. This was within their original delivery window, but my experience with Apple is that things deliver on or before the earliest expected date. That was definitely the case with the Beats. Lesson learned!

Sorry to hear that. Where are you? I'm in the UK & I ordered the same config on the 21st and was originally quoted the 7-9 August, but it's now arriving tomorrow. Might just be luck I guess, I hope it improves for you!

I'm in Canada, but in a smaller city in the Prairies. I normally wouldn't mind the delay except my old macbook is acting like a jilted lover at the moment, stalling and crashing every few minutes. The new model can't get here fast enough. Hope you enjoy your macbook!

Fingers crossed
Finally got bounced around enough that we were able to get through to a Sr Manager. Apparently there was some issue where the processing hung up, and it was expedited. The order has finally moved to "preparing to ship"

Here's hoping it ships overnight to make their estimate.
