all these people first complained about the white and now say they would buy it over the black. I find it amusing at the least.

Personally I would buy a red and black in a heart beat from apple. Matches the S4's interior so I'm down. I may have even utilized TMO's upgrade policy thing to get the red/black one until the next iPhone comes out. the red/white looks like a valentines day card or a candy cane imo. To each their own though.

The white front looked feminine to me, like most Apple products lately.

I don't care what anyone says, this looks AWESOME.

I personally think the white looks better. JMHO...

Was watching someone else do something similiar:

That said it would be nice to give the folks wanting black a black front option.
This is also a great video and using a black skin or even a red skin to cover up the white home button is a brilliant idea.

Coming up next, iPhone X. Hardware parts only for just $1099. Buy your favorite body color for just an extra $299. (PRODUCT) BED, do yourself the job and give Apple employees some extra sleep (on brand new beds, purchased with your money).

Doesn't matter if if looks good, it looks un-Apple like.

What I mean is, it's fine if you want to do this and own this but it's crazy to think Apple would have actually done this themselves.

Yeah I don't know, I find it kind of silly to say that red and black is "no way man!" as far as Apple's taste goes, yet red and white is somehow par for the course? Even the bright red in the first place is a little unlike Apple as far as their phones usually being more neutral subtle colors.

Apple never provides a black front with an other color besides space grey. All of the iPods have white fronts with alternate colored backs. I, for the most part agree with this decision. White looks more classy when combined with other colors. I can't think of a color that white doesn't look great with.

Apple's new (PRODUCT)RED iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, released yesterday, feature a bright red aluminum casing that many are a fan of. Unfortunately, it comes equipped with a white front plate, much like the Gold, Silver, and Rose Gold iPhones, something that's been a point of criticism for people who think it would have looked better with a black front plate.

YouTuber Danny Winget recently tore apart a red iPhone 7 Plus and replaced its logic board and front plate with parts taken from a Jet Black iPhone 7 Plus, giving us a glimpse at what an actual (PRODUCT)RED iPhone 7 Plus with a black front would have looked like.

Winget had to replace not only the front plate but also the logic board because if he swapped just the front portion of the device, the Touch ID fingerprint sensor would have been rendered unusable.

Apple ties the Touch ID fingerprint sensor to an iPhone's logic board and disables it for security reasons if any of the parts are swapped out. Therefore, most of the internal structure of the (PRODUCT)RED iPhone had to be replaced with parts from the Jet Black iPhone.

Purchasing an entire Jet Black iPhone 7 or 7 Plus for the purpose of creating a hybrid red/black iPhone 7 is probably out of the question for most people, but it's an interesting proof of concept.

This method essentially ruins the Jet Black iPhone 7 involved, making it a rather pricy project, and it destroys the waterproofing seal on the red iPhone.

It's also worth noting that this is a highly complicated process that essentially requires tearing apart two iPhones, melding them together, and hoping nothing goes wrong, something that the average person won't want to attempt.

Apple loves their white. Maybe one day they'll get it right just like the bigger screen

I think I do too, but I wish it had a red Touch ID sensor rather than silver. It looks nice either way.
I don't know if it's a money-saving thing, but Apple has done stuff like this before. When they updated the iPod shuffle a couple years ago, the icons on the white ring were all gray instead of matched to the color of the device, so I made this GIF comparing the default gray icons to colored icons:

Yeah OK, now I see why Jony went with white.

By the way - this process doesn't ruin a glossy black iPhone - it gives someone a black and white iPhone. Someone's bound to want that!

What I want is black front with silver back, like they were before they started making white fronts. And iPhone 5Cs with white fronts.

That's exactly the thing. You should be able to choose independently.

Good. The white bezel is an eyesore.
When you look at an iOS device, what's on the display (the software) should be the focus of the device, not POW! BEZEL! IN YOUR FACE!

If it were seamless with the display emerging from out of the white, then that'd be one thing, but it isn't. The display graphics butt up to a black area, which the white doesn't even completely cover, leaving you with the odd blinding white display, abrupt black ring around it to visually trip over, on your way to the bright white face, with more black holes in it. The white looks cheap, ill-fitting, and like the kind of fashion statement a teenager who goes around wearing white sunglasses is trying to make.

It is a much cleaner and better design for bold graphics to emerge from the uniform darkness of the black face.

Silver (clear anodized) should also come with the black face, as the original, classic iPhone did.

My first thought was that with the black front and the screen off, it made the bezel disappear, and that to me looks very elegant. I like the product Red finish, and would consider it if I was looking to get an iPhone 7, but I'm sticking with my 6s and will wait to see the new iPhones in the fall. Maybe Apple will read this and decide to offer product Red 7s or X!

black front looks better. but as someone mentioned before - its could be look agressive to a lot of people.

but why is no one asking for a red front? I mean this would be a truely red product, right?

For me, it's the shade of red. Brighter reds generally are paired with white, while deeper reds go with black.

This reminds me of what I had to do to run iOS 10 because Apple refused to provide an official solution without the purchasing of a completely new desktop system which was being forced upon us by the elimination of working apps under older iOS versions.

The solution was to replace two identical Apple 500KB files with a 3rd party 300KB file into the operating system of my Mac Pro in order to run OS X that supports iOS 10 iTunes.

How much better for everyone would it have been to provide this tiny file solution directly from Apple? The funniest part of this joke from Apple is often the App of the Month supports older iOS versions yet the Apple Store app required iOS 9 or higher.
