The first thing I said was that the front should have been black. But after seeing them in person today, I think white was a good choice. That said, the TouchID ring should have been red!

This looks far sharper than the white front. I know it cost a lot, but, good job!

It's clickbait. You do not need to sacrifice an iPhone for a replacement black screen / digitiser. Go to any 3rd party phone repair shop and they'll give you one for $100 approx. Which is what he did.

The only reason he's saying it was so expensive is to cash in on that YouTube destroy expensive tech tip. The lady doth protest too much...

Anyway, YouTube hustle aside - this is the correct colour matchup. Red Touch ID - as suggested by other commenters = cherry on top / bottom. Anyone left at Apple with any sense of aesthetics since Jobs passed? I'm looking at you iPhone red / Apple Watch band teams... awful crap.

Sorry I think a red Touch ID ring would have looked really tacky. It works with good and rose gold because those colors aren't so pronounced.

Another example when you think you know better than Apple and most people think the same. Maybe the black/red iPhone is for China only.

Doesn't matter if if looks good, it looks un-Apple like.

What I mean is, it's fine if you want to do this and own this but it's crazy to think Apple would have actually done this themselves.
Lol how is this un-apple like? Its a combination of 2 very basic colors which looks great together which apple deals with already. Is a matte black iPhone Apple like? What about the semi reflective black Mac Pro? Black plastic Mac Book, Gold, Rose Gold? the list goes on man.

Yeah I don't know, I find it kind of silly to say that red and black is "no way man!" as far as Apple's taste goes, yet red and white is somehow par for the course? Even the bright red in the first place is a little unlike Apple as far as their phones usually being more neutral subtle colors.
I think people forgot that they actual produced a 24k Gold Apple Watch lol

Soooo, how long before Samsung comes out with a red phone?
Any guesses?
[doublepost=1490494013][/doublepost]I don't like the white OR black.
It should of had a red front as well as the red back.
Now THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN AWESOME !

Sad... this device had more storage than entry level iPhones released until September 2016

They can, but still not (PRODUCT) RED.

Agreed. Every time I looked at it I would think of Candy Canes. That would lead to Holiday Anxiety over the next Apple purchase. Just leave it alone !!!!! :apple:

I disagree....why? If your going to buy this kind of an iPhone you want people to notice it and ask you about it, seeing a red ring around the home button only enhances the uniqueness about owning this phone. I also think the red around the ring would be very subtle anyway and would blend right into that black. It's not going to stick out like it would with a white face.

Personally I like the white one more.

It would seem than anyone with taste agrees with you.

And now we know why Apple's design aesthetic is copied worldwide, and why armchair "designers" aren't working for Apple. This is a really awkward combo - not terrible, but the red & white is SO much cleaner and fresher and appealing. :)

FWIW: My daily driver is a 6 Plus in Space Grey. Got bored one day and purchased a white face sans home button. Then just moved over the home button from the black face. Touch ID works just fine. Result:

I agree with you. Having a red iPhone shown to people online is like giving a can of red paint to people and asking them to paint a room with it, subtly and tastefully; just because you have the can of red paint, doesn't mean you need to fall for the temptation of painting everything RED.

Good taste and subtle design using nuance of colour balance and hinting is a rarity, and being tempted to go just that ONE step too far, is something most people cannot help themselves but to give in to.

If you want a red phone and already have a matte black or jet black, don't waste your money just to get a color. The phone does the same thing your current phone does.

What you can do is simple.

Buy a red skin, not case. Slap that red skin you bought for like $20-35 and bam you've got the same phone for WAY less.

I don't know who in their right mind at Apple thought that making a iPhone that cost you over 1K to look like an old iPod Touch.

I was annoyed with the white front on the red iPhone until I realized that the colour of the back doesn't matter because I always have an Apple silicone case on mine. My space grey 6 Plus has the red and black look covered well enough for me.

I think the black facing looks nice but it hardly seems worth the swap. I'd heard you'd need to have another iPhone to make the swap. I suppose a skin would be just as good for me if I was interested in changing the color, however, I honestly don't care what the color is. It would likely end up in a case for protection. I like using cases.

This seems like a strong analogy to what our president is doing to the United States. Tear two things apart swap some pieces around and be left with one worthless piece and one significantly inferior piece.
