I don't get this obsession with black front, red back. That particular colour combination is too aggressive, especially for a brand like Apple. It worked better on the U2 iPod because rock n' roll was essentially the theme, but on an iPhone? Nope.
That said, to each his own.
I would be willing to bet $500 on this.
Under Jobs, if the part from the black iPhone wasn't the right shade to compliment the red aluminum, he would have had them try 15 other shades of black to find the right one. Under Cook, this is an accounting decision. Which color are we overstocked on? Yeah, perfect, use that one!
Very nice looking. I wouldn't buy a iPhone with a white front.
Red and black, very nice (I prefer red convertibles with black rag tops too, BTW).
I wish the silver iPhone would have a black front as well. Might have bought that instead of space black.
Kudos to this guy for daring to do this.
IMO both of you nailed it with this assessment. 100% my sentiment exactly.I would be willing to bet $500 on this.

This is a weird proclimation...you're basing this on what exactly?Doesn't matter if if looks good, it looks un-Apple like.
What I mean is, it's fine if you want to do this and own this but it's crazy to think Apple would have actually done this themselves.
It honestly looks like something Samsung or another handset maker would do. It's as awful looking as a gold/black combo would be.
If you don't like the look of it as-is, then don't buy it, instead of whining about it impotently on a forum nobody at Apple will read.
Use your consumer power. If you're right, and "nobody" likes the white front, it will be reflected in sales and Apple will re-evaluate it. This is how the market works.
Or, more likely, nothing will change because nobody cares what you think about what they "should" have done, because it's just your opinion and not a fact. Particularly given all the other purchasing options available to you.
That's done right. The front matches the color. Apple can't seem to do that. And look a black Touch ID ring, it even alingns with other "product red" , products from the past.
The worst thing about the new red iPhone is the silver Touch ID ring, completely out of place, $$$ ahead of branding. It should have been white like all other product red offerings in the past that had a home button

Nah , Samsung version was cooler...if you were an iron man fanthey even matched the ring around the home button correctly

The Sony Xperia is a beautiful phone. Black, square, waterproof, has a headphone jack and reasonable battery life. Red? Seems to me Apple is short of ideas.
I don't care for what reason they bring this red color but the phone looks ugly with white & red combination, the black front would have changed the whole storySeems you are short of understanding the meaning behind why Apple chose Red? It's called Product Red for a reason in support of research for Aids. They didn't choose Red because they thought it was a More popular, they chose Red for the actual significant meaning behind it and what it stands for, hence the title of this thread.
Thanks. Except in China where it's just a red phone (maybe for the Maoist patriots?). Anyway, somehow this red color has resulted in less than $10 million donations per year from Apple for AIDS research (aside from Jobs' personal donations which were phenomenal), so it lacks credibility to me. As has been said basically every year, they could be awesome and just donate $100 million for AIDS research and prevention without making a big song and dance of it.Seems you are short of understanding the meaning behind why Apple chose Red? Ah. Yes. Haha. I failed to see that, dohYou can do what you describe but then you are left with a white home button! That is the reason why they swapped the logic board, so you have a black home button rather than a white one.

Same. Ugh. Looks cheap with the white front.
Combined with not even bothering to replace the silver ring around the TouchID with a corresponding red one, this really is par for the course for Cook's Apple. Lazy, uninspired products from a successful company that went on autopilot.
