Adding color is a good idea. Especially brilliant is the pink one. It’s going to be a must-have with many females.
Yeah the pastels in aluminum are disgusting.Yes very awful looking! Why can't the well them in bolder less wimpy looking colors like the special red, dark blue, etc.
They could just call it “mac”. After all there is a Mac mini below it, and a Mac Pro above that is configurable.
I was thinking that too. On the bottom would be the cleanest look, although maybe not the most user friendly. But the display tilts up/back, so doesn't seem like it would be too inconvenient there.Apple Silicon allows the iMac to be super slim like an iPad Pro. In that case the ports would be along the side not on the back.
The irony in doing that would be this site loses its clicks and page views it garners for piggybacking off of other people and websites. If I were the Macrumors editors, I'd give Posser 3 more failed rumor calls before they stop publishing his claims. At some point, he's just trying to get YouTube views and we should all stop giving him attention.
Yeah, not a fan of the pastel-coloured mockups. Pretty drab next to those OG iMacs. The colors are awful looking but as long as the keep the gray/space gray I don't care.
really?Who cares of the color, most people will put a bumper over it.
Yeah I don't believe this. Apple painted themselves into a thermal corner with the Trash Can Mac Pro. Why would they do the same with the new Apple Silicon Mac Pro?
Hit-and-miss leaker Jon Prosser has today alleged that the upcoming 2021 iMac models will offer five color options, mirroring the colors of the fourth-generation iPad Air, and revealed a number of additional details about the Mac Pro with Apple Silicon.

In a new video on YouTube channel FrontPageTech, Prosser explained that the redesigned iMacs will come featuring options for Silver, Space Gray, Green, Sky Blue, and Rose Gold.
He shared renders of what these new color options may look like on a redesigned iMac, but noted that he has yet to see the rear of the new design, so his renders are purely speculative beyond color.
Prosser explained that the range of color options aims to capitalize on nostalgia for the original iMac, which came in a selection of iconic colors such as lime, strawberry, blueberry, grape, and tangerine.

Redesigned iMacs with slimmer bezels and Apple Silicon chips have been expected for some time, but it is unclear exactly when they are expected to be launched this year or if both model sizes will come out at the same time.
Prosser also outlined a number of additional details about the upcoming Mac Pro with Apple Silicon, supporting previous rumors from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. Gurman has said that the new Mac Pro will be less than half the size of the current Mac Pro, putting it somewhere between the existing Mac Pro and the Mac mini. The machine is speculated to feature a mostly aluminum exterior and may "invoke nostalgia" for the Power Mac G4 Cube.
Prosser has now said that the new Mac Pro will feature a design that looks like "three to four Mac minis stacked on top of each other," and provided renders of the purported new look.

Internally, Prosser says that the Mac Pro will be designed with the "compute unit on the bottom" and a "big heat sink on top."
Late last year, Bloomberg reported that Apple plans to launch the new, smaller Mac Pro with Apple Silicon by the end of 2022, but it could arrive as soon as this year.

I am thinking the "i" is representative of an era (2000-2010) and represented your personal devices. To me the most significant move away from that naming convention was the apple watch. I think they made the switch to prevent "i" fatigue and make their naming convention a bit more modern (not sure if you remember back in the day, all the rumors were refering to an "iWatch", which kind of sounded lame to be honest).Agreed - they kind of painted themselves in a corner using the "i" naming convention across so many of their products and services over the years. At this point they have moved away from it in most areas, and it seems to be primarily synonymous with mobile products, even though ironically iMac was the first use of it.
Just calling this machine an Apple Mac does have more logic to it, and frankly is a nod to the original that was just Macintosh/Mac as well.
Thunderbolt is too slow and the number of SKUs for different CPU, GPU and storage would be a pain to keep in check. The practical limits of how computer motherboards work would limit the number of modules you could practically use. You won’t be stacking 6 boxes. The length of the signal paths would become an issue really quickly. Everything would be a soldered down box at that point. Pros would hate it and consumers would just go buy an iMac. Cool in theory, horrible in practice. Why not make the Mac Pro literally a stack of modules, connected by Thunderbolt? CPU unit, storage unit, GPU unit. Stack as many of each kind as you need.
don't forget they are rendersiMacs are ugly IMHO , maybe I am just getting old. But this design is old and boring. Love the current tappered one
How many do you plan to purchase?I hope they manage to sell the new Mac Pro for less than £2000 again. Ideally bottom end around £1500 or less.
It could be worst... I have been waiting for more than 2 years for a redesigned iMac and it feels like forever! Come to think about it, I would have been better off with the 2019 speed bump;TLDR Buy the product you need when you need it! (The old design is a classic anyway)I've just bought recently an iMac and MacBook Pro M1 so I hope none of this happens.
Yep, according to the author of Insanely Simple, it was essentially some amalgamation of "personal" and "internet" initially. And prior to Watch even, it was Apple TV that also eschewed the "i" thing too. It has slowly dropped off other parts of the ecosystem, e.g iTunes.I am thinking the "i" is representative of an era (2000-2010) and represented your personal devices. On the Mac, I would just call it the 'Mac' if there is was a change in name but I feel like there is no room for another product (between Mac mini, the iMac the Mac Pro)
It’s not much choice, really. Imagine if for a reasonable fee they could match girlfriend’s nail polish.I love these colors! So much fun!
