As much as I loved it when Apple first launched the iMac in colors (I bought the green version), I’m not sure there is as much reason or demand for colors in a desktop computer today. Back then, computers came in either beige or black boxes, so the colors really were ground breaking visually. But color today, especially in pastels, are likely to date the product - especially an item that may sit on someone’s desk for the next 5+ years, doesn’t make as much sense, imho.

But I also understand that colors can drive decision making for some people, who want a device like an iMac have some flair to it.

Not a huge fan of the colors, IMO they are/did indeed prototype colors but that doesn't mean that they will all be available. I remember reading a long time ago that the ID team experimented on different colors of gold for ipads but couldn't make it look right, until they eventually did. Maybe it was for macbooks ? I don't remember...

EDIT: JUST RELEASE THOSE iMAC ALREADY (been waiting for a redesign since 2019...hehe).

For the first time ever I am not that excited about extra power. I have the new Mac Mini and it let's me edit 4K video in any format like it's nothing. It also exports it in next to no time. I can't think of a reason to pay double or triple for something else. I imagine Apple will find one for me all the same.

This guy's record is so much more miss than hit.
There’s a website that keeps track of that. Be fair.

The colors are awful looking but as long as the keep the gray/space gray I don't care.

Mac Pro Mini looks interesting, it will make it hard to pick between that and the iMac for me.

The colors are dull and blah and look like they're a color-scheme for a 1970's era public bathroom intended to just blend in and be ignored, where the vivid colors of the original imacs pop out and look like fun.

And the boxy box aesthetic looks like 1970's industrial design. Not something stylish or modern.

Colours would be nice to have on an iMac - got a few custom coloured ones at work which look pretty slick.. (well the ones we’ve bothered to assemble back together).

Wow these are pretty bold claims. I hope we hold him accountable *cough* MacRumors *cough*... and stop giving this guy free advertising if he’s wrong yet again. The guy seems to act like a teenager who knows a secret but waves it in our face.

I wonder if Apple is using him as bait and feeding him both correct and incorrect to discover leaks in the supply chain 😂

This guy's record is so much more miss than hit. Nearly 10 months ago he told us the new Apple TV "project Neptune" was ready to go at any time yet there has been no new Apple TV. This guy probably has a source somewhere on the supply chain but he's not to be trusted - a stopped clock is correct at least twice a day. I could make up my own Mac Rumors based on likely product releases and I'd probably have a better track record than this guy.
Yeah, the same guy that said the 2020 March event was canceled, iPhone 12 will be launching in October, iPhone SE 2020 will launch in April (+ exact date) and said it will be called just the SE and the exact price, said widgets are coming to iOS, said no hardware at WWDC, exact iPhone 12 and Pro pre-orders and shipping days, said no 120Hz, gave a first look at AirPods Max and said it will ship in December 2020 and that they will have "Max" in the name...
and all this while he was the first to say/show so.

Laugh all you want, in no way I think he 100% accurate (which is impossible), but he mostly falls down when it comes to little details like how fats the CPU will be, how big the battery will be etc. Regarding new products, generally, he's pretty on point.

It's called Spaghetti Journalism. Throw something and see if it sticks. Apple follow closely this forum so if the idea is positive, it might give them ideas.

C‘mon, Apple! All you had to do was take the chassis from the 2000’s Mac Pro and update the logic board with Thunderbolt 3, USB 3.x, user upgradable GPU/drives/etc. The logic board on the 2019 Mac Pro is customized for AfterBurner and more which many of us don’t need. A midtower starting at $3000 would be perfect. I can put my HDD’s inside as I did with my 4,1 and 5,1 Mac Pro’s, ditch my Thunderbolt 2 array that I had to get for my 4 drives when I “upgraded“ to the trash can Mac Pro, and throw in my own RAM, etc.

This isn’t a difficult solution. A Mac mini form factor most likely means external storage will still be required and I’m betting the SSD will be soldered and the GPU won’t be user upgradable.

I hope I’m wrong and Apple produces a Mac Pro for prosumers. Worst case, I’ll trade my 2014 Mac Pro in for a base model 2019 Mac Pro and load it with RAM, etc. Yet I still need an MPX module for internal storage and that runs about $2200 - otherwise I’d have a tower with unused internal space. Why Apple just didn’t add 4 SATA III bays is beyond me.

Excited by the new design, but in today’s market I don’t see the demand for a variety of colours beyond Silver and Space Grey. Even the MacBooks are dominated by the Grey with Silver and Rose Gold being not that much in demand. I see the colours being of interest to some of those special ordering their iMac, but not much at the in-store retail level.

This strikes me as idle speculation or maybe wishful thinking on Prosser’s part.

The color scheme they've been going with hasn't been the most appealing to me (maybe to others, but I am not in the marketing field). I always though the virbant, rainbow colors were the best. When they got away from them (I am thinking back to the ipod nanos) the colors just got weird.

I was a Windows guy when all those bright iMacs came out. They look a little too much like toys. I'll likely stick with the space gray or silver.

I'm willing to bet the support arm for the iMac adopts the more rectilinear design language from their Pro Display XDR's support arm (although maintaining the simpler hinge connection at the back of the computer).

Oh no, please not green. I would be far too tempted to get one that matched my 12 Mini and iPad Air 4
