Not until this semiconductor shortage ends, they won’t. Apple can’t afford to let units sit on the shelves because demand for “Pacific Periwinkle” wasn’t as high as they would have liked.

Sorry to say, I worked for Apple computer along with being in the computer technology field for 45 years. Apple was the first computer before the PC that had expansion slots. Just because a iPhone has a color does not mean a computer needs a color. Do I need a semi truck to be orange or do, I care about the motor, the transmission, and steering to do the long haul work everyday.
Get a MacBook Pro then.

But no need to ruin the fun for the rest of us.

Childish much? I'm sure you're a howl at parties.
Professional media companies often have put candies and goodies in professional media orders. Every order of digital betacam and DVcam cassettes I would order came with M&Ms. It was a gimmick but it worked. I’d rather hang out with the poster at parties, and compare our candy colored macbook pros.

Please not a white keyboard, you know how it will look after a while...
Yup, just like the keyboard on my folks 2012 iMac. First thing I do when I visit, before upgrading the software, is wipe that SOB down with a Clorox wipe because eeech.

I suspect the reticence for colorizing pro machines isn’t just a matter of wanting to “look professional.” If you’re doing color correction or precise image work, you don’t want distracting colors, you want a 50 percent grey background, your office may even be white or grey painted walls. I imagine that having a little splash of color on the computer wouldn’t REALLY cause problems, but I think the impression that it could skew color correction is enough to prevent pros from buying a bright red MacBook Pro or high end iMac.

Ok.

My point still stands though.

I'm a little confused by all the negative comments on the colors. I am 'assuming" the grey and silver would still be available. if you don't want red or purple...then just don't buy it. The people that do want it will buy it. Why is more choice a bad thing?
Maybe color options is "offensive" in the US? It's been the case since the 90s I think. Eg. Sony Walkman/Discman/earbuds in Asia came in variety of colors, while it's not the case in the US.

Um. What? The Micral N was the first commercially available computer with expansion slots, and the Altair 8800 was the first to introduce slots that formed an industry standard adopted by other makers, in 1973 and 1975 respectively. The Apple II wasn’t released until 1977.
Your knowledge base is either lacking or your memory is selective.

Here’s an image of the Altair 8800, if anyone is interested. I believe it is the first computer that Bill Gates and Steve Balmer programmed for.

75%? Does anyone really think using Mac OS with fingers would be a nice experience?
I somewhat agree - it would need some UI updates in macOS.

That being said, I enjoy using the new iPad with keyboard, pen, and finger - depending on the task. The problem is when I am on my MacBook I pretty often try to touch the screen for a few tasks since I am in the habit of that mix from my iPad (and since my macOS apps are more or less catalyst apps running on the mac). So I think adding that additional input mode combined with some macOS changes would be great.

I think the key is not one mode vs the other but having the option based on the task to do whatever gets you faster to the solution ... choice is nice.

That's a whole new class of Apple chip. I'm sure Apple will get there before the big MacBooks are updated, but it will probably be expensive.
Apple Silikin is quite different from Intel or AMD. There's a higher amount of SoC integration versus x64 chips. It will take a lot of new Apple Engineering to go to external RAM and Graphics chips to overcome some of those I/O limitations.

They've had such a long time to work out their own chip process, no excuse to have it so limiteds, i get its 'first gen' for a public Mac with Apple silicon but c'mon. also, see below.

The display limitation makes no sense - it’s such a grind monkeying around with displaylink adapters. If the M1 is so powerful why do they gimp it so badly.

Yep!

I guess if they’re gonna function like toys, they may as well look the part.

Pretty much what they're limiting these to now. I don't understand the thought process behind this. Port selection is awful and is confusing to consumers. I used to be involved in the tech field but got tired of the culture. anyway, hopefully with the Apple silicon stuff they finally get their roadmap on track and more cohesive.

Good, more color options = win.
And even though I love the idea of white bezels over the usual black, I wouldn't mind having the option for that too.

Yes my friend built one of these, I built this, picked it up at the heathkit factory outlet in 1978 at the Saint Joseph, Michigan my grand mother lived right down the street from the factory. It was fun to build and have a true understanding of computer technology.
