Have had my watch for a week. Yesterday my neighbor was the very first to ask if "Is that the :apple:Watch?"
They are an all :apple:house like us, so we had fun talking about it!

I've had mostly cashiers ask when I'm paying with Apple Pay. I also have had people ask me when they're standing next to me in line. All positive, and how much people want one but don't want to wait.

My Apple history:

  • Original iPhone: Lots of people interested and talking about it, all of it positive, people were gushing and excited. Kinda weird feeling.
  • Original iPad: Several people interested and talking about it (maybe because I didn't have it out except in class, mostly negative saying it's just a big overpriced iPod Touch. All of my friends who made fun of me for it have at least one iPad now, if not a few in their households.
  • iPhone 6 Plus: A few people stopped and asked about it, mainly if I had it out waiting in line places. Mostly positive, some said it was too big. I agree with that now lol.

I'll be interested to see if anyone comments about my watch when I get it. I don't get the people bothering the OP. I don't go up to people who have a fancy car and ask "Hey you, how much did your car cost? Oh yeah? That's ridiculous and you're stupid." Or maybe people do that and I've just never owned a nice car so I don't know, haha. People be jelly. They need to mind their own damn business. In the scheme of stupid things that people buy the Apple Watch is pretty low on that list. The sports model doesn't cost much more than the lower-end but still nice Citizen stainless steel watches. and the SS model isn't much more than that and much less than many nice watches out there.

I didn't saddle myself with a ridiculous mortgage like some people. I still have the same car I've had since highschool which refuses to die. So what if I buy a $700 watch? It's more useful than other $700 watches on the market and fits in well with all of the devices I already own. Plus they wouldn't even know that most of it was paid for by my employer's insurance health incentive. I earn the watch by getting healthier. It's a motivation for me. But I refuse to explain that to anyone who gives me crap because I do what I want. I don't feel like I need to give them justifications but I do have them. Even if I didn't it's still my money at the end of the day. People can work hard for whatever they want. Who is to tell someone it's worth it to spend, for example, $700 on the premium sound system package in your new car that will lose $5000 in value driving it off the lot vs. spending $700 on a watch? I'm very smart with my money and the reason I'm smart with it is so that I can make purchases that I will enjoy with the excess. Heck my AAPL stock has made way more than $700 in the past year.

Im always amazed at the anger shown in these threads. I really dont care if anyone likes it or not, i do, and why i bought it.

That being said, i have not run into anyone who has not been inquisitive and complimentry.

no one noticed my black sportband SS yet. when i had my sports with a white band some guy tried to take a picture of my arm lol thats about it

Everywhere I have gone people have asked me is that the Apple Watch. Just today I went to the hardware store and one of the workers came over to me as I was checking out and ask if that was an Apple Watch I am wearing. He asked me if I liked it. I told him I am enjoying all the convenience of not taking me phone out a lot, and getting texts very quick and easy to send texts back. Perfect timing, I got a text from my wife and replied quick. He was impressed. He had a try on session last week, but he was unsure of if he would get it. I think I might of convinced him to get it. Also the cashier told me they had Apple Pay. So I tried it for the first time with the watch, and it worked great. They were both surprised how easy that was.

So yes people have been stopping me to ask about the watch

People don't notice it, my awesomeness simply overshadows the watch:cool::D

Honestly a lot of people don't care, I had a few say "cool Apple Watch" it seemed a little creepy:confused: Certainly friends have asked, but I had more public reaction to my iPhone 6.

here in Sweden the watch hasnt been released yet, got my watch from a pal in Germany who recived my order and forwarded it to me, got it yesterday, love it!

Was in the queue to order a meal on Burger King. Hear'd a couple behind me, in the aprox. age of 20-25-ish. His girlfriend was whispering (more like talking loud! :p) 'Oh, look, he has the apple watch. Damn its nice. How the ***** can he have one allready...' And her boyfriend was answering 'scccch, he might hear you.'

When i had recived my order i smiled to them and said, thanks for the compliment, i love it so far!

I was heading into boston the other day sporting my SS 38mm with a white sports band and I started to draw a crowd. The crowd grew bigger and bigger.
I was shocked. Then the door shut and trolley started moving.

I was at the store buying beer last weekend and paid using Apple Pay with my watch. The cashier asked "Dude, did you just buy beer with your watch?"

No one has mentioned mine except a waiter.

Starbucks barista, rubios cashier, etc all looked completely unphased by it when i used apple pay.

Kinda surprised. Ive had people stop me at a best buy when i first got the iphone 5 on release day.

Since the first week of release I really haven't seen in increase in watches.

nobody has noticed mine, I hate getting attention from having the latest gadgets. about a month ago I was at a coffee shop having breakfast and doing some work on my retina macbook 12" and this guy asked if this was the new apple laptop, luckily I got a phone call so I just nodded yes and he walked away.

Both of my kids liked it. The younger changed the face to Mickey and not-very-subtly asked for one of her own (not getting one unless she wants to pay for it).

One squee from the Walgreens cashier. This was a much better reaction than the "Hey, come back here! You didn't pay" from the last Walgreens cashier I dealt with using iPhone's Apple Pay a few weeks ago.

My dental hygienist and dentist both had pretty positive reactions. The dentist was skeptical of its accuracy in tracking runs without the phone coming along.

I'll test the tracking accuracy a bit later this week after a calibration run.

People are curious (if they notice).

For example, the other day waiting outside a classroom a group of guys kept looking over. Eventually one of them walked over to ask what the time was. I had my phone in hand so just read the time out from there. He seemed disappointed. Occurred to me afterwards he probably wanted to see the Watch. I wasn't deliberately trying to be obtuse :p

General reaction to mine!

Starbucks has to do this extra step so you can scan stuff. If they see my phone it's made up in their mind to go to this screen already, but with a watch not so much. I look like a fool trying to explain how I want to pay with my watch, lol.

It's like: "How the hell do you not know are you living under a rock?" I don't say that, but I look dumb holding my watch up to the scanner. I'm supposed to look cool with it.:cool: Instead I feel like a tool.

Recently people at registers have been making comments when I use it for apple pay. "Wow, I have never seen anyone do that before!". Things like that. And once at a street fair someone at a concession stand said is that the apple watch? But thats about it for me.

lol ditto! There's that awkward moment when you're trying to raise your arm slowly so they'll get the hint that you're about to pay but it's not so obvious like when you're paying with your phone.
