Do you consider loose buttons and dead pixels to be "fine"?

Yes, a dead pixel or two are fine. In fact, 10 dead pixels on a iPhone 6+ screen would only be 0.00048% bad pixels. Most people wouldnt even notice it.

Face it, you just got lucky. I have a loose mute switch, but as my other buttons are firm and my screen perfect I didn't tempt fate by exchanging my 6+.

A loose mute switch isn't a defect unless it actually affects the functionality of the device. The issue I have is that people post these "problems" that aren't actually problems.

Let's face it though, the most expensive production smartphone in the world should have perfect condition hardware out of the box. If it cost $100 outright then I might be more forgiving.

Again, nothing is perfect. A certain number of minor defects is always going to be acceptable, regardless of the price of the device you're buying.

Ever meet a hypochondriac?

I've purchased a dozen different iPhones and every one of them has been fine. Some people just expect perfection which isn't actually impossible....

*edit* fixed typo changing "is" to "isn't."
That's the point. People expecting true perfection out of a consumer grade mass produced phone.
The iPhone isn't a 3000$ product. It is pricey, but not so much. There are manufacturing margins, like a loose button, a not perfectly uniform backlight or a single dead pixel.

It can't be perfect. Face it. They are producing millions every month, some manufacturing tolerances are acceptable. On this forum there are people searching for single millimeter dust particles to return a perfectly working unit. That's insane.
Btw add me to the long list of lucky customers.

That's basically where I was going with my post. I work in manufacturing so I'm pretty familiar with tolerances and the fact that even a "good" product being shipped out has a certain level of defects that have been deemed acceptable.

As a side note, I need to be more careful about making corrections to my posts after I've had a few.

So after waiting a while after exchanging 5 iPhone 6's with defects, I finally decided I'd try to buy one today. Purchased a week 50 64GB space grey and it's flawless apart from a chip off the plastic inside the headphone jack but I'm willing to live with it.

I was told by the store that a fresh new-years batch had come through so hopefully that's why it's better.

It also has MLC flash! :)

So you inspected it INSIDE the headphone jack

Speaking about picky users that returned several units...

Yep. You corrected the right sentence :D

Mine one perfect aswell week 49 but I do have a little flaw.
I do have a little scratch on Apple logo on the back.
I was expecting to be 100% perfect.

Wow I would love having a little dent or nick in my phone if I could trade it for a better screen for real!!! The one thing that should be perfect or nearly perfect IMO is the screen of all things!

As I recall even by Apple's own definition having a single bad pixel on an iPhone/iPod is not within their own acceptable definitions.

They may, but the specifics aren't posted on their support site. I think the decision is ultimately up to the Genius looking at your device.

There is an article there with the specifics, from a few years back, but it's there. Don't have the link handy but it came up a few times in another phone issues threads (I'll post it once I come across it again).

I think we know because we're getting all those posts from members swapping them out over a single dead pixel.

That's anecdotal evidence, because every store could have a slightly different policy about that.
Btw I'm more than happy about that because the only thing I don't accept is a dead pixel. Nevertheless I still have to see an iPhone with a dead pixel in the wild.

I only ever had two two iPhones in the past with dead pixels they exchanged it without issues. At the end of the day I would never accept a phone with dead pixels too.

Dead pixels is the most annoying thing ever.

I don't know about Italy, but in the United States it's an official policy to replace debris under display glass, pixel anomaly and single hairline crack under warranty (source: my sister who's an Apple Store manager).

But, yeah, my wife and I have had iPhones going all the way to the original iPhone and we've never had dust under screens or dead/stuck pixels (at least what my naked eyes could see, as I don't run some test to seek them out like some anal-retentive members here).

I really don't mind at all if people run test to find any defects on their phone end of the day Apple needs the feedback from customers.
Without this feedback how would Apple know how to improve it's QC.

If you have to run some "test" to find defects that you can't see with your naked eyes, that's an anal retentiveness issue. E.g., that one member who performed daily clicking test with the screen faced down to see if his iPhone 6 is bent. Those people, not Apple, need help.

WOW, lol that is crazy I only run my test when I recieved the item the first time after that is fine that is it.

Well I got back my 3rd iPhone 6 64 GB Space Gray replacement yesterday and so far so good! I checked the serial on the chipmunk website and its a week 48 device. Checked on the battery and it has 0 cycles. I believe I got a brand new device. My only remaining quibble which I'm willing to bet probably everyone has is that the screen is slightly dimmer in the upper right hand side. It just must be how the backlight is in these devices. It's more noticeable on white screens. I'm going to live with it though! No dark splotches anywhere and my FaceTime camera is ligned up properly this time so far!

I would love for one of you to check my 6+ for any issues. How is it I have had a 4S, 5S, and 6+ all purchased without issues? Where are these bad iPhones coming from?
