Radio Shack iPhone 5 pre order

Buy a gift card

So I can buy an Amazon gift card at radio shack using my radio shack gift card? :eek: I sure hope that works, what am I ever gonna buy there after this?
 
Finally

I finally got one of my 2 AT&T iPhones. I ordered a 16gb white and 32gb black for my boyfriend. I had to email the district manager like 3 times. He managed to get the 16gb white on hold for me from another RS location near my house. Says the 32 should be available by Friday. Not going to hold my breath. Just glad I got my phone in time for my birthday tmw. :D

Trust me they hate saying "Home of the iPhone 5" as much as you hate hearing it. Unless they blatantly lied to you try to go a little easy on the employees. From what I understand from people I know when I worked there they were originally supposed to be given an allotment of 90,000 phones from Apple. The each of the promised phones was given a PIN number that reserved it for the person who ordered. That was why so many employees were convinced that they would have stock, because once they had a confirmed PIN then that meant a set aside phone. According to http://wallstcheatsheet.com/...

This is not to say that RadioShack is not responsible for the mess up. They are. I used to work there during the last to iPhone releases and each one went about as well as this one. They have a terrible logistics system that can not be overridden or modified by the local employees and would many times send product that was not needed while leaving large sections of the floor without a particular product for days or weeks. I also doubt that many are being honest about what they received. While I worked there I never saw a case where employees or their friends would purchase pre-ordered phones, but we were instructed by upper management to prioritize in-store shoppers over people who were not there yet or may have found their phone elsewhere. This was especially true if the pre-order holder could not be reached quickly. I know quite a few people got their phones this weekend, but a third party retailer like BestBuy and RadioShack are not the best places to go if you want your phone quickly. I know for many it is their only option locally, but don't expect it soon.

Buy it online between 10:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m. for in-store pickup the next day. Limited quantities may also be available for in-store pickup on a first-come, first-served basis.

I asked Apple 5 days ago if they were offering in store picked from online order and was told definately not this year.Now I see they are.I ordered 1 last year via that system but cancelled next day pickup when my 4S arrived.
It's a great system and you have to be quick at 10pm.Last year it was either 8 or 9pm IIRC.

You guys who are talking about emailing or calling the DM, why not leave his info and help others get their phone?

Yeah, that's exactly what I did. Although, the stores didn't show as in stock to me until a little while after 10PM.
 
No luck again and of coarse no clue about when its coming in. Basically it could be the end of October before they get any for all they know

My RS District Manager only manages 10 stores in the San Fernando Valley Area which is in California he would not be able to help you in another state. I had to call my local RS and get the DM's email. You should call the RS you pre ordered the iphone from and ask what the DM's email and contact phone number is. That is the only way you will get any real answers or perhaps get a refund.

I'm in a difficult spot here. My brother works for RS and I had promised I would go through him to upgrade to the new iPhone because he gets a commission on the contract renewal.
So I went in at noon on the 14th and pre-ordered a black 32gb AT&T one.
Turns out I was the 3rd person at his store to do so and on launch day they only received two 32gb AT&T models.
So I'm stuck waiting and getting no answers. I really don't want to cancel because it's my brother. So I will just have to wait it out.
I just wish someone at Radio Shack could get an update and some idea when they will start coming in.

I don't think there are any iPhone 5s on the island of Manhattan. Maybe at an Apple store. If the apple store has them I may just bite the bullet and buy one and then sell my phone on Craigslist. I wanted to just trade in my phone.

This is where I am at. I was wanting to trade my phone in with RS to save a bit of money, but now that I found out it could be up to 2 weeks until I receive my phone, I wish I would have just bought from apple or at&t during release and sold my phone on gazelle. But I waited too long for RS and now everyone is sold out so I'm sorta SOL.
 
Just picked up my iPhone 5 no thanks to radio shack. A Walmart a half hour away had 3 black 16 and about ten white 16 gig. Looks like ill buy a case with the gift card. I'm not canceling my order with Rs because I want to see how long it would actually take them

Just FYI, I talked to @Radioshack on twitter today, they said it was possible to get a refund of the giftcard by emailing them at help@radioshack.com with you store number and ticket number. I haven't tried it yet, but if I can get an order in from Apple tonight I will.

I'm going to that right now. I just got my iPhone 5 from the Apple store. They have a bunch of them.

EDIT:
I emailed RadioShack and they replied promptly and said that they will try to refund my card, and that by doing so I lose my preorder. I don't care though, I already got an iPhone 5 at the Apple Store!

This is the individual who tracked down and held a 16GB Black Verizon iPhone 5 for me after my terrible ordeal with the Forest Hills, NY store.

Oh, btw, I stopped by that store last night after getting the iPhone Farjana had held for me, and I got their attention at the door, waved the phone, smiled, and walked to Boston Market with my gf.
(the creamed spinach was delicious)

I was a happy boy. :p

Thanks for the heads up I will try that. It's one thing not to get the phone. It's just the way they were so unprofessional about when your order would be in. Good luck they are out there just call around, Walmart had more than any other store I tried. Can't understand how they have so much stock for walk ins and RS couldn't even fill a preorder
 
Well after getting the run around from the RS I ordered, i figured i would give it a try to and see if they would refund my gift card.

I asked the associate and he asked his manager, and of course they said no.
I told them if they could not give me a solid date or tracking info then they should refund me the card.

When he said no, i asked for the district manager's info and he was surprised. He asked for what, I said to speak to someone who can make the refund happen. So he gave it to me.

I left a message, so waiting to hear back from the DM.
Im in a unique situation, cause I am here only for work, in the town Im in, and I wont be coming back ever. And the preorder I did here wont transfer to my local RS.

I have a better chance of going to the apple store when I get home than getting one here. And there are no apple stores here.

mvandam, just saw your post, i will email them as well. THanks for the info.

Supposedly my local RS has a white 32gb on hold for me to pickup at 4. So we will see. The manager said he had to drive to another store to get it and it would be ready for me after work. I had a pre prder through verizon for 10/19 ship and canceled that, checked the website and it shows my upgrade is available again so im crossing my fingers they have it when i go in.
