I emailed help@radioshack.com 3 time and eventually they had the local store manager call me, and of course he had no info. I wrote them back and let them know I didn't appreciate them having him call instead of someone that knows whats going on.

I'll wait for my phone from them just because I want to trade in my old one, but I'll never do business with them again!

I wanna trade mine in, too. But if I can get one from Apple tomorrow I will, and either try to sell it on Craigslist or give it to AT&T for a credit.

I'm starting to seriously consider buying from an Apple store, but my closest one is a 2 hour drive, so for now I'm trying to patiently wait it out.

Radioshack claimed they were shorted by apple when i called corporate help line today. Which can be found on their website.

They also said they were doing there best to now locate a phone for me, they found one about 30 minutes later, and are shipping it overnight.

If what they are saying is true (and news reports are saying the same thing) then its not all radioshacks fault, but why didn't they call me to just tell me this? I wouldn't be so angry with them if they knew what the deal was from the beginning.

But looks like i'm getting it tomorrowwww. :):) They came through, kinda

I feel the same! Congrats on the possibility of getting one finally. I understand completely that it is not RadioShack's fault that they were shorted phones but they certainly could have handled it a lot better. My local store has tried to communicate with me as little as possible it seems. I'm afraid that when I finally get the call I'll go into shock.

Sorry to say but my pre order was being jerked around by Verizon. So today I called the closet Radio Shack by my house. The said they had a bunch of them in stock. When I asked if I can get one without a pre order they said no problem. So i drove the 2 minutes from my house and got one with no problems.

That's my problem with RS they have stock but won't give one if you have a PO. I know it's now all there fault but being honest would have been the best thing for them instead of trying to avoid you and giving you hope that you will get it soon

Talked to a manager yesterday and they had a conference call about how there finally getting in phones but only 20,000 units for ALL the radio shacks. Certain Radio Shacks are iphone stores so some stores get more than others. Here in San Diego, the top two carriers that sell at RS are AT&T and Sprint. The manager said there's a bunch of Verizon models just sitting there.

So I just called RS and I spoke to the manager, and he said he got word that they would be receiving an iphone shipment either later today or tomorrow.

I really dont know what do to if i dont get a call tomorrow saying that they've arrived.

It frustrates me how the dispersion of the phones worked out. Granted, I am living in a town of about 20,000 but it drives me crazy that there are stores that seem to have quite a few phones and then there are the stores that didn't even receive any phones.

I finally got mine from Sprint yesterday who had the same giftcard reserve process. Going to take the advice and use the RS gift card to buy an amazon gift card tomorrow.

Suck it Radio Shack.....

The Power of twitter is fantastic. I have lots of followers and part of a news organization so I decided to send a tweet calling a local store out, about my experience I just had with my local radio shack tactic.

Telling me I need to purchase Apple Care with the iPhone5.

I attached a screen shot of the convo..... It is amazing how quick they tweeted back to me, cause I am sure they don't want this going any further.

The manager of the store where I preordered called me this morning, I can expect to get my phone later today or tomorrow. I really hope this finally over.

They told me when I got mine I had to buy at least $40.00 in accessories. I refused and she called the manager who referred her to the district manager who ultimately let me buy it without the accessories. But common. Seriously.

thats ridiculous. And then theres the guy they told he'd have to buy Applecare. And the girl they told she'd have to buy it full price. What is going on?!

There is absolutely no way I am buying anything else from them once I get my iPhone 5. I am going to be extremely annoyed if they tell me I have to buy accessories.

Sigh, does anyone know if it's possible to get a refund on those stupid Radio Shack gift cards they made us buy?... I feel like just canceling it and going to a local apple store. I just called and they said they had plenty of iPhone 5's in stock, just a half an hour line.

The sad part is that I preordered the day preordered's opened and I still HAVE NOT received my iPhone 5 >.>

I finally got a call back from the DM in the area I am in.
He apologized for the whole situation and said he had moved me to the top of the list and that the radio shack where I did the PO was getting a shipment tomorrow. I asked him if he was 100% sure and he could not tell me.
So I told him I would rather just get my gift card refunded.
He said he would call me back, but that it should not be a problem.

I leave tonight from here (columbia, MO) so I wouldnt be able to get the phone regardless if it arrived or not. I asked him if he could mail it to me and he said no. So I will take my business elsewhere.

He said he couldnt mail it because it had to be activated first.

I see some of you guys are having them sent to you, how did you get them to do that???

Yeah I hear ya. I refused and after making a few calls they "authorized" it. But at least I didn't have to buy accessories.

That's complete BS. By no means do you have to buy accessories. I would be furious if they told me that at their store. Personally, I would contact corporate about that because that is NOT true and they are just trying to get your money to hit the quota for accessories they need to sell because most people would just say "yah, w/e okay ill buy accessories" just so they can get their phones right away.

The girl said well that's how we make our money off accessories we mark down our phone lower then everyone else then sell accessories to make up the difference.

I said well that's not true because your prices are the same as everyone else. As a matter of fact their selling the Verizon iPhone 5 for 699.99 off contract which is more than everyone else

She didn't have a answer for that. Come on this is like when some sprint stores were doing the same thing. You can't force anyone to buy a certain amount of accessories to pay for a phone. Especially when your not offering any type of discount first. Craziness I would hope it's not wide spread. This was at the Radio Shack store in Eastpointe Michigan.
